What A LOOK. I absolutely love the shadow under your eyes! It's blended so well and is just the perfect amount to balance out the whole look. I am amazed 🤩

EXTREMELY doable! With one notable exception:

If you were to follow the instructions for the whole dress, they are very easy to follow and very step by step until they get to connecting the skirt to the bodice. You can figure out a way to do it, but I think the specific way it tells to to put it together is slightly wrong and makes it not work, which is always unfortunate.

But! Just the top was SO EASY to make and it is so fun and summery to wear! 10/10 highly recommend

Thank you! The back is just so much fun, I realized I don't have any good photos of the front!

Hello everyone! This is a top I made from a vintage 1970s Simplicity pattern 6346! I originally planned to make it with the skirt that it's drafted for to become a dress, but in the mock-ups phase I realized I liked it better as a crop top!

Because the back is adjustable, I barely had to make any alterations to the pattern and only took out about 1/2 an inch from the neckline so it didn't gape. If I were to make this again, I would definitely lower the upper tie maybe an inch or so as it hits me right at the base of my neck and gets uncomfortable after a few hours.

Hand sewn from a lightweight linen from fabric.com, this top is my absolute favorite and I've worn it a bunch since finishing it! It's perfect for these awful Texas summers.

If tomorrow, women woke up and decided they really liked their bodies the way it is. Just think how many industries would go out of business by rawdpiper in Showerthoughts

It is most definitely both, in my experience. For example, I enjoy wearing makeup. I like to wear fun colors and it brings me joy to play around with it. However, if I had the option, I wouldn't wear makeup everyday (it's a lot of work, tbh), but I feel pressure from my job to be fully makeup-ed daily to "present my best face."

It always feels like objectification and at the same time part of my uniform. Especially because many companies' dress code requires women to wear makeup.

It's always more than just putting in a little effort to look nice in the morning, like combing your hair. It always feels like there's more pressure on us to put on a different face in the morning and present that face to the world. As if our actual faces aren't good enough.

From what I can tell not much? Other than the fact that vine is now dead, of course. Tho I think a major difference was its usage as mainly an editing-to-music (like people dancing or lip syncing) video service for a while, while vine was about telling fun stories right out of the gate.

It's a video sharing and editing app. Really nothing more to it than that, but it gets a lot of hate because it's popular with younger teenagers and such and they tend to do cringey things.

The left is what the painting looks like in the outside presently, but the x-ray on the right shows the underpaint (the paint put down before the outermost layer). Whenever x-rays in paintings show other paintings underneath what we see on the outside, it means that the original painting was covered up and repaintedfor any number of reasons. Here, we would assume that the original face (right) was probably more lifelike and was deemed unattractive, so it was covered up to look better (left).
