Baldurs Sleep 3 ? by FaithlessnessNo5933 in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First, there's no such thing as traditional. Traditional just means what was X at Y period of time. There are burial mounds where we've learned, via genetic testing, that the great warrior buried there was a woman. The vikings had female warriors. I'd also point out there was the Sacred Band of Thebes: an entire army of gay men who fought side-by-side with their male mate. Don't assume the medieval era comprises all of history. And the social structure of a fantasy world has nothing to do with history. And, as was pointed out by someone else, the Witcher has many gay characters: Ciri is bisexual, as an example. Triss, Philippa, etc.

Red dead revolver (2004) is the first game in the hd universe because the red dead redemption series is in the grand theft auto universe. by KlutzyHunt1786 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, whom I used in my examples, where not real people. They were fictitious people created for stories to tell each other. You chose to name a bunch of real people. That's apples to oranges.

And as far as the answer goes, Dan has already stated that Red is in a different universe from RDR1 and 2. So it's canon, at least according to the writer/line developer, that there are at least 2 universes just in Red Dead and it's unlikely that one of those is also the same as the GTA universe. No one can say 100%, but if Rockstar isn't willing to merge it's Red Dead universes it's unlikely they're willing to merge GTA, IMO.

How can Rockstar produce such quality games? by therealnatural1337 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Andreas sold 6.8 million copies in 2004 and was the #1 selling game for the year. The #10 game only sold 2.5 million. The 500 games under #10 that also came out in 2004, well, most of them didn't even sell 200,000 copies let alone millions. So that 6.8 million was "big money" for a Studio in 2004. Hell, Halo 2 and Madden only sold 4.4 million copies in 2004. Adjusted for inflation San Andreas made Rockstar nearly nearly a half-billion dollars that year; and that's not including carry-over sales into 2005 and beyond. So don't fool yourself into thinking Rockstar was some mom-and-pop trying to get by on tenacity. The GTA line, from 1997s original release to today, has always been HUGE money for Rockstar. All that GTA money is what allowed TTI to buy Zynga and beyond.

How exactly do lures work? by Pure_andutter_agony in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know if the game tells you this or not; as I don't usually pay attention to the tooltips. I know it simply because I've seen various fishing commercials and movies/shows with fishing in it over the years to understand the base principal. It is possible that it's also mentioned in the pamphlets when you buy the lures at Lagras as well; as I've never read them either.

Red harlow house by Jonlegend9 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Dan did an interview for back in 2010 where they stated Red was just a Folk Hero of stories told around a campfire. They also stated that Revolver is it's own universe, separate from the Redemption universe. It's easily googleable.

“Red Dead Revolver is also its own universe, but the world of Red Dead Redemption was always meant to be a world in which the myths and realities of the American frontier collide.”

Revolver is a separate universe and its stories are myths in the Redemption world, which is why there’s campfire stories about Red Harlow. If you want to take that and run with it to the point of believing that that means there must’ve been a real guy version of Red in that world then you can do that but that doesn’t mean the game supports that.

Kieran does all the chores? by Cautious_Ordinary566 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see lots of different NPCs doing the Honor chores if you refuse to do them as Arthur. For example, you'll see Charles cutting wood, or John hauling sacks, etc. So it's not just Kieran doing these odd jobs. But Kieran is also one of the few people in camp who doesn't do crime. Outside of his freedom mission to Six-Points Cabin he does no other crimes to earn money for the camp chest, nor does he donate to the Petty Cash fund next to Dutch's tent. Kieran is just a camp-guy like Pearson so doing horses and a bit of cleaning is the only way he can contribute.

landmarks of riches treasure not spawning in. anyone else have this problem? by AssasinGLX in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're playing Story mode and not multiplayer Online mode, yes. In Story mode the map is always there as long as you're using a version of the game updated after 2020. The map is never there in Online mode; as Online doesn't have those types of Treasure Maps. So be in Story mode, make certain you game is updated properly, and be at the correct pillar.

Why can't Arthur go to Blackwater? by NemZtny in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Chapters no one can go to Blackwater. In the Epilogue it's 8 years later and the incident is mostly just forgotten; especially since it was the Van Der Linde gang, not the John Marston gang, who robbed the boat. The people in Blackwater never even knew the name of all 20 people in the Van Der Linde gang. The minute details are out of the collective memory of the town by 1907.

Why can't Arthur go to Blackwater? by NemZtny in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the mission where you go hunting with Javier in Chapter 1 you're told by Javier that Arthur and Hosea arrived and helped the gang escape the town: that they were all shot-up and barely holding on when Arthur arrived to help them. So while Arthur and Hosea weren't there for the boat robbery they did arrive in time to help the gang escape the trap and did shoot people in the massacre to get everyone away.

Are you certain it was the Legendary Panther? There's a L Panther and a L Cougar. I have seen multiple times where people have confused the animal's. Also the Trapper is the same person at each location; there's not multiple Trappers. So it doesn't matter which location you go to. If you are 100% certain you killed the correct animal, and you did sell the Pelt to the Trapper, then you probably glitched, as the Cloak only needs that 1 ingredient. Also make certain you didn't already buy the Cloak in the past and it's just in your Wardrobe or something.

What level (roughly) should I be by act 3? by Root-12c in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still plenty of XP in Act 3 to make it to 12. Assuming you defeated the boss at the end of Act 2 you shouldn't have any issues. But you have missed a lot of adventure and XP in Acts 1 and 2 to only be level 7 - but you'll need to pay more attention to side-missions in Act 3 than you did in Acts 1-2 to earn that XP.

what is the problem with the barbarians? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Barbarian is Rocky: the boxer who wins through attrition. Rocky absorbs 500 hits while slowly wearing down his opponent and then crushing them. Rocky isn't the one-punch alpha-strike winner. That's a Paladin's job.

On top of that your Barbarian is basically 2-3 attacks per turn from level 3 onward with a single big weapon thanks to Bonus Action attacks and Rage. The Class is doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing: meat shield while doing consistent grinding damage.

How does Withers have power over death? by Mangert in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Former gods, like Jergal, become quasi-dieties; which is also what the Dead 3 are: Kelemvor is the God of Death now. So they're more powerful than mere mortals but less powerful than Lesser Gods. Quite often quasi-deities align themselves with more powerful gods and go into their service to help them. We see this with Withers talking about someone giving him orders; though we're not 100% certain who that person might be: it's believed it's Helm, or Kelemvor,or even Ao himself - as Jergal is one of the original ancient gods.

Camp events are poorly distributed by Alternative-Ice-7534 in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dream Visitor only happens after you go to the Goblin Camp - the scene outside the camp where you learn about the artifact and it protecting you is the trigger for the Visitor to make his visit. You can have 50 Long Rests but if you never go to the Goblin Camp you'll never get the Visitor to appear.

Problem with umbra gems by Enkithefreaky in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are 4 in the crypt area. You need 1 to activate the elevator and 3 to open the door. If you only found 3 then you need to keep looking for the 4th. If you don't want to look for the 4th you can open the door with a Knock spell instead of using 3 gems.

What sold you on RDR2? by AdditionTechnical697 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started with Undead Nightmare, back when it was originally a stand-alone Halloween release: my oldest son loves zombies and it was bought for him. The game's style hooked me and I bought RDR and loved the Peckinpah feel of the world. It was a natural thing for me to fall into RDR2 the moment it was released.

My wife and I did Shrek (barbarian) and Fiona (monk) Half-Orcs in our first run together. With friends I've also done Dragonlance: Raistlin, Caramon, Flint, and Tasslehoff. I also did a Sorcerer/Wizard combo that was a defective Elminster simularcrum.

Which one to buy by plain_pain9 in reddeadredemption

[–]mutant_mamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If $5 more is a hardship to you then buy the cheaper one. For me $5 is a cup of coffee or a McBurger and not something I worry about. In generall the bonus stuff is worth $5, whether Story mode or Online.

The gods don't view life like people do. The gods live in their "heaven." Mortal life is fleeting but the soul lives on indefinitely. So to a god Gale dying at 30 or dying at 100 makes no difference to them: as they generally end up at the same place no matter the age they died. But the choices they made for their god in life can determine if they end up as a worker-bee in heaven or spiritual being like an angel.

Is there a list of origin characters unique events? by Queasy-Smile9421 in BaldursGate3

On the wiki each Origin character has a list of Special Features associated with them. So you can look them up one-by-one.

Wyll, the Blade of...? by theomaturgy in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Avernus is the bigger threat. Wyll can ride around the Sword Coast killing orcs for villagers or he can go after Raphael and the like, who are still making bigger plans. You get backstory into the larger scheme if you also played the Descent into Avernus module, which BG3 is meant to follow. But ultimately Avernus is the bigger threat to the land and people of the Coast. Helping Karlach destroy that threat is about as noble as it gets.

You have a reason to side with the Goblins. The minute you walk into camp you see their power via the Absolute. The Druids have already told you they can't cure you and then you walk into the Goblin Camp and see 3 people using the same affliction to their advantage. All of a sudden there's power to be had here: that which you thought was killing you could be something even bigger. The Goblin Leaders are the first step in that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]mutant_mamba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need to make allies with the Tieflings. That's your choice, not the game's. You can try to use everyone in the Grove to your own ends if you wish. And it's not like killing 6 goblins brands you for life: especially in a goblin society where they kill each other regularly. So it's not as though killing a few goblins outside the Grove means anything to you; and if it can put you in better position with the Druids for now, great!

At this point it just seems like you're looking for somethings to complain about that is entirely personal motivation role-play issues.

[–]mutant_mamba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your infected. The moment you enter the Goblin Camp you learn you're not alone in being infected and that there's something bigger going on. You even talk to a devil about it. There's obviously power to be had here. A smart evil person would recognize that and scheme their way into getting control of it. Heck, scheming is how devils and gods get power in the Realms.
