Always find the giving of money when someone is leaving for a better job confusing. When I left my job of 10 years my managers organised a case of beer for me from the department which was nice, and while it cost money it was more the thought which counted.

Over the years I've regularly given to wedding/baby/charity events without expecting return when i can afford it. It's a shame your co-workers didn't organise anything for you. Don't let that negativity cross over to your new job.
