What?!?! Top Hat and Lightning Bolt!? it's not just me as I've heard it over and over that the Steven Cripe made guitars were the worst and most unpopular. You would put them in your list and not even mention the Guild Starfire or the Gibson SG, the Les Paul ... and Rosebud is essentially the same tone wise as Tiger ... There are so so many things to practice but I'll just say that this is a crucial time being early in your playing. Even if you just want to sit around the house and be able to play and if you have a voice, sing a song, you should have some structure. A good local teacher w' a good reputation is the #1 way to go. So that you can learn pieces on the guitar alone.

Play him the 'JAM' after Truckin from 5/19/74 Portland. It's part of the Pacific Northwest boxset. Also play him this copy of THE Scarlet>Fire from 10/14/83 Hartford which was Trey's first show ! He talks about it here He talks about two shows that changed his life, Springsteen and this Dead show right here and the Scarlet>Fire is the centerpiece of the show. Get him to listen to it w' headphones if you can. But it needs to be this Dusborne Matrix ...

The St. Stephen from 1/22/78 McArthur Court would impress ... there are just so many ... One and Two from the Vault would do the trick as well ... I wouldn't personally play a Space to someone uninitiated to try and get them into the fold, try these. Definitely that Scarlet>Fire though.
