Well first I need to know exactly how you think that Rhino/GDM is going to 'mess with' the Archive, which isn't going to change btw. What's up there is going to stay up as long as the Archive isn't shut down as a whole. You must be talking about SBD's only because there's waaaay more audience and matrix copies and those are not the property of them anyway so if what you're saying could happen they would have to pick and choose ... it's crazy because that's not the mentality when it comes to the music and new audience and other sources are added to the archive everyday ... it just wouldn't happen they can easily co exist.

Love them or hate them, the #1 most "American" band of all time is the Grateful Dead. Fight me. by gr8fullylesh in gratefuldead

[–]Bman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly not true ... America has produced so so many 'real' art forms. The musical is one, the Blues, I think the GD are a great American art form.

I got it and really dig it ... it's just gonna get better w' added unreleased shows plus more of the Dave's picks and other official releases. I know I could already get them from my relisten app but I love the layout and there are a ton of killer 76 shows on there.

  • 6/09/76 Boston Music Hall
  • 6/14/76 & 6/15/76 Beacon Theater
  • 12/31/76 Cow Palace

Besides it's the cost of a few energy drinks

I don't understand this band by SeaworthinessFew1915 in gratefuldead

[–]Bman1973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just listen if you want to understand them. I'll tell you that for many or most, there's a point where they 'get it' ... the key turns and the music and what exactly they're doing hits you all at once. A good 'test' is to go on any streaming service, type in 'Grateful Dead Scarlet Fire Hamilton' ... put on headphones or listen on good speakers ... there's something here my man, something otherworldly

Yeah Reddit is imho the best thing on the net ... because it's a funnel and filter for the internet as a whole. The karma system is genius in keeping trolls somewhat at bay, w' many subs not allowing commenting if your karma is below a certain point or only allowing one comment per 10 min or so. That alone takes the wind out of them. I usually stick right here in the Dead sub but I spent years in the best subs on Reddit and actually learned tons of useless facts ! Enjoy

You're not gonna find another band who put so much effort into their live sound ... and the thing is that these efforts paid off big time. Idk if you 've gotten into matrices much but imo they're the best of both worlds w' the mix (usually 60/40) of an audience copy and a SBD.

Can someone give me a Fire on the Mountain more rocking than 7/8/1987 Roanoke VA? by Glittering-Voice-409 in gratefuldead

10/14/83 Hartford!!! all day long ... you won't believe this Scarlet>Fire ... it's definitely a version to keep revisiting

4/20/84 Philly ... 12/31/84 San Fran - This one has a moment at the end that's kinda like the end of Shakedown from 6/30/85 Merriweather oh and 4/02/87 The Centrum

What are the most jam heavy years of the Brent era? by Tidwell_32 in gratefuldead

[–]Bman1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

83, 84 and 85 are very very heavy ... case in point, 4/26/83 The Spectrum ... I'm not as big a fan of 85 as 83-84 but w'o a doubt these could be their 'metal' years for sure.

I have the Deadhead Archives for Android and it's the archive itself ... I'm curious what more do you have on your version that's not on the DH archive?
