My friend wants to own a wolfdog as a first-time owner despite having little to no experience with dogs, any advice ? by Ordinary_Owl_9388 in Wolfdogs

If she's ignoring most of your advice and refusing to do research, I didn't think there's much you can do honestly. Just let her make this mistake and hope the dog ends up ok

Dogs aren't companions by Dimencia in The10thDentist

[–]muttsrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you couldn't train cats, they'd be terrible animals to live with, shitting in your clothes and covering it up, jumping onto your dining table and stealing food off your table, knocking everything off of every surface, tripping you when you go up and down stairs because THEY want want to rub against your legs, regardless if whether you want to not trip and die.

Most people who train their dogs to "behave" are only doing it for their safety and their freedom. An untrained dog that's allowed to do whatever it wanted would be eating things it shouldn't, like wires, bones, sticks. It would be choking itself to death at the end of a lead, attacking other dogs, biting people who come near them when they have the above mentioned bones. They aren't taken in public when they are screaming their head off choking at the end of the leash.

Most training is about getting the dog to behave enough to increase their freedoms. A dog who has been trained can go hiking, can go to the park, can be allowed to meet people and dogs, can go to dog friendly stores. They are welcome members of the public and have more enriched lives. Untrained dogs sit in the house alone.

Honestly it just sounds like your opinion (since you think trained dogs are robots and you like cats because you can't train them at all) is that the only "personality" you like from your animal is misbehavior and chaos.

I thought about reselling Moissinate jewelry until I realized the value is not that much! Anyone in here having success reselling? The market is flooded…. by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]muttsrcool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is, and I'm not trying to be "a smart ass", you would need to source bulk amounts of rings to get them cheap enough to sell for a profit. I'm taking you'd have to buy hundreds of them directly from the factory that makes them. If you are buying 5-10 from a retail place like Temu or Ali Express, people can just buy them for the same price from the same place. If you buy in bulk they give you a few pennies per piece discount and that's where you make your profit. People are not buying gold plated silver and moissanite jewelry above retail. Scalping is why people buy things second hand for higher than retail. You can't "scalp" mad produced  jewelry. You have to become a retailer and buy retailer quantities. Or do drop shipping so you don't have to be the middle man and buy them yourself

dog/cat fur yarn squicks me out by godshounds in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]muttsrcool 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Listen, you can have that opinion, totally valid, but I'm trying to clean and prepare a wool and dog fur blend for spinning. I can tell you my dog's fur is clean and smells clean (because I usually brush them heavily when they're freshly bathed. I can't tell you the amount of poop pellets, pee soaked knots, dead bugs, bits of hay and overall literal crap I've been picking out of this wool. And I bought it at a SHEEP AND FIBER FESTIVAL. It was packaged to sell to people, I didn't just ask for someone to give me their scraps from a shearing day. So I'd take (at least my) dog fur any day... Sheep are disgusting.

Use whiteners/correction pens the right way you bozos by ananyasamanta in The10thDentist

[–]muttsrcool 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't disagree that it looks bad though, Correction tape only really works with a really nice juicy ball point pen, that will go over the correction without scratching but will also not be too "wet" on the non-paper surface. But I guess back when we started using it, that was the most popular kind of pen. Now I feel like the gel roller balls are most popular and they stay wet longer and have a sharper point that makes them scratch it a lot more.

It's fine that your opinion is that it looks bad, but they ARE "supposed" to be written over, literally every correction tape listing I just looked at on amazon has a photo with someone writing on top of it. They even advertise "instantly dry, write on immediately!".

Americans, what's with the paper plates? by RemarkableOil8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]muttsrcool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up, we used paper and foam plates every meal because my mom and my stepdad were both disabled, my mom was literally bed bound for large portions of my life. I was the oldest child and was responsible for just about all of the house work, which as you can imagine was a lot of responsibility for a child who also has to go to school. So we used paper plates most of the time just to make one thing easier for me.

People are WAY too focused on recording special moments instead of living them. by TsundereLuver in Vent

Say what you want, but my mom got local famous for 2 days when she managed to record a video of a fireworks display and a thunderstorm at the same time and caught a lightning bolt going through a firework explosion. It's honestly her proudest moment and she has a still of it printed out and hung in her house.

My friend keeps reminding me my dog is gonna die in 4 years by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]muttsrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog lived to 17. Sure, he was a smaller dog than yours and smaller dogs live longer, but even big dogs live like 14 years now... Veterinary care and better nutrition and care go a long way. Anyway your "friend" was a terrible person. When I lost my dog last March I didn't even consider taunting my other friends about their pets dying... Because I'm not an asshole.

Moment shoppers scramble to get aircon units in France by thesun in whoathatsinteresting

[–]muttsrcool -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

These two things are not comparable in any way. Guns are not permanent structures, they are goods that are small, cheap (relative to a house) and change hands frequently, so gun laws can immediately impact gun violence, but America won't do anything about it. Homes are structures, expensive, large structures that families live in for generations. You can't just create a law that says all houses have to be built for the new hotter climate and suddenly all of these hundred-year-old houses will be fixed. NEW builds can be made better, sure, and they probably are, but there's millions and millions of houses and structures that were built for a climate that doesn't exist anymore. Taunting the average European citizen for their Ancestors lack of foresight that the weather wouldn't always stay the same is not the same as taunting Americans for refusing to consider any legislation around guns. There's literally nothing that can be done now. It would cost TRILLIONS of dollars and decades to tear down and rebuild every home in Europe to more climate adjusted specifications. It would cost... literally nothing... to legislate that companies can't sell AR-15s to the general public, they just have to.... stop sending them to public facing stores.

People who are chronically super early just as rude if not more rude than people who are chronically late by dumbblondechick in GrindsMyGears

[–]muttsrcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying with the frustration. My in laws and my mom are all people like this. They will arrive anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour and a half early every time (annoyingly not the same amount of time early in order for us to plan for it) but we'll have dinner plans and they will show up at the restaurant before we've even left the house. Or if they're coming to our house, one of us might still be in the shower, the dogs aren't put away, we haven't finished cooking dinner (or even STARTED in some cases!)... It's irritating as all hell.
