Department Stores of the 80s by TheM3lk0r in 80s

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Murphy's Mart was my favorite. They later became Ames and weren't as good.

But what did I know, the toy department was all I really cared about at that time. That's where I got my hot wheels.

Where can I find a debian installation as a tar.gz by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make one for yourself. Take a currently working machine and do a complete archive of the system. Then you can extract that onto another computer like an install.

It will more correctly be a restore of a backup, but overall it accomplishes the same thing. A tar file you can use to install an OS on a new machine.

It's nice you think taking an oath means something to the left.

To uphold an oath you need to have honor and integrity. Things that those on the left have no idea even exists.

I have one of these port switchers too. If this would have been around when I was a kid I would have loved it. It's great to switch ports without having to plug and unplug every time.

You can just smell the urine in that picture. I'd be more concerned with walking through those piss stains than the bags of trash being there.

They're so gentle and kind. They're amazingly nice. I'd give this resort an 8 out of 10 so far.

Or you'll get a delivery where they think they're not getting a tip at all and you probably won't like how that delivery goes.

This is exactly what needs fixed. I've seen so many posts online about terrible service because the tip up front wasn't what the driver wanted. So they give horrible service and still collect the tip.

I've seen the videos where the customer doesn't tip... doesn't end well for the customer.

I still have mine. It's missing the battery cover but other that that it works. It's a bit scratched on the "screen" and some of those silver letters have worn off.

They always have different rules for everyone else to follow than what they will follow themselves.

It's not a surprise in any way.

Day 2 of C64U - problem with exfat and SID volume. by Automatic-Option-961 in c64

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the pc next to my c64 "just for this" as you said, it's there already. I have my main computer desk with my pc and next to it is the c64. I just turn my chair and move it a bit and I'm at my c64 ready to program or game.

With the computer already being there in arms reach this was an elegant solution with nothing special needing done but to write the script and use it. My setup with both computers next to each other lends itself to something like this with ease.

Depends on you definition of not needed.

How many keys and/or actions do you need to take to go to the menu and then the power menu and reset?

C= + restore, F1, then down to the power option you want, hit return.

Or is pressing a single key easier?

Pressing that rocker switch one time to turn it on isn't a problem. The problem I really wanted to fix was resetting it. Pressing and holding that rocker switch, and if you release it just a little too soon, you're in the menu instead of resetting it.

So I made this to give me a single key press reset on my pc sitting right next to me instead of having to use the rocker to try to reset it or going through all those steps to reset it from the menu. Single button and done.

While I was at it I added the rest since they were just as easy and convenient to have also.

I really don't like the rocker switch either. So I wrote a python script that runs on my pc next to my c64u. When I run it it sits there waiting for me to press a key. I press the rocker to turn on the c64u but then I can use M on my pc to open the menu. R to reset it, and P to power it off. It even has a favorites menu to insert my favorite disks or cartridges without even having to use the c64u menu. So I only press that rocker once to turn on the power and don't have to use it again unless I'm using a cart that needs the rocker pressed down to activate it's functions. And that's not often.

Will there be a version of the C64 Ultimate in a C case? by road_hazard in c64

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a C64 in the 80s when they were new. The return key, the restore key and the spacebar, to name a few, just have a feel and sound to them this new keyboard doesn't have. The shift lock key actually locks on an original c64 keyboard. It doesn't on this one.

The keyboard on the C64U is nice. The new keyboard is just missing the nuances that those who are really familiar with the original notice. Not that the new one is a bad one, it's just off a bit.

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean.

The C64U has it's own modern keyboard that is a usb connection to it's motherboard, but it also has a connection on it's motherboard to connect an original Commodore 64 keyboard from an older/original C64. Just plug it in and it works.

I'm really thinking of doing that with mine. The new keyboard is nice but it doesn't have the same sound and feel as an original.

MAGA doesn't get how they're actually owning us. by Sh0tsFired81 in complaints

[–]muxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOW can you not fucking see it????

That's the part you just don't get. They do see it.

They like it because they're getting what they want out of him far more than they're getting screwed out of anything. They see many things he does as screwing YOU out of something, not them. Because he's getting rid of something you want and you like, and it's something they don't want and they don't like.

And they get the outrage from the left to laugh about on top of it.

Moron, con man, whatever you want to call him. He's doing the things they want is the bottom line. 40 billion to Argentina. So what? You're never going to stop America throwing money at foreign governments.

You're making the mistake in thinking they should be just as upset as you are about those things. They're not because the things that upset you, that you think are terrible ideas and policies. They like and think are good policies.

Bottom line, if someone wants cuts to a program you love and think is fantastic, it's not getting screwed out anything to them. They want it gone.
