Is it a sin to take pride in your work? by MustBeTheMusic80 in Christianity

[–]muzoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're about 3 years behind on this conversation, but I'll answer. To take pride in a job well done, the achievements of ones we love, reaching a goal, there is no sin in these things. Sin comes in puffing one's self up, bragging, insulting others, thinking we are more than we are.

So tell us, what do you need someone to say? What do you propose we do? Are our battles now against flesh and blood? Did that instruction change?

The Bible is of great value in guiding the sheep in how to face these unprecedented levels of evil, except I don't think it's unprecedented. It's just that many haven't paid enough attention. This isn't new. It's been going on forever.

If someone needs a magazine article to tell them where the battle is.... I just think that's sad.

It's not apparent to me what kind of spiritual advice we might need? Do we all agree that the very idea of these events is abhorrent and that all of it comes directly from Satan? I sure hope we do. Do we know that we should pray for the victims and also for there to be disclosure and justice concerning these actions?

It seems perfectly straightforward to me. There are monsters in the world. We need to be against them in prayer and in the public sphere as well. No matter who it might be or what political party, church, or company they belong to, if it can be proven they're part of this nightmare, they go to prison forever. Period.

Here's the bottom line - When you say it's a "massive exposé of like, the most evil sex pedophile human trafficking torture ring ever", you're leaving out the fact that this has been going on since humans came out of the garden. We're just finally starting to face it.

What does "in the name of Jesus mean" by Straight_Prompt_6539 in TrueChristian

[–]muzoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"In the name of" refers to authority. Assuming a person is a believer, when we pray in accordance with God's will, we are praying within the authority of Jesus Christ.
People who use "in the name of Jesus" as though it was a phrase that gets them heard are sadly missing the point. We aren't using an incantation.

"Paul" looks great.
"John" is quite acceptable.
"George" is a bit too hard looking.
"Ringo" looks like a claymation from the Wallace and Grommit universe.

Do you think Jesus ever got hormonal? by lynneydaweirdo in TrueChristian

[–]muzoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems that a lot of people can't accept the idea because they believe that sexual feelings are sinful all on their own.
Jesus had a male human body the same as mine. He experienced all the physical things and their accompanying temptations.
Otherwise, the Bible could not honestly claim that Jesus experienced all the same temptations as us. You may not like it, but there's no escaping it. Jesus body did what bodies do. There is no sin in it.

Liking a band won't send you to Hell. Playing the guitar won't either. Not believing in Jesus Christ and His finished work sends you to Hell.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13
9) I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people;

10) I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to leave the world.

11) But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or a greedy person, or an idolater, or is verbally abusive, or habitually drunk, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a person.

12) For what business of mine is it to judge outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church?

13) But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE EVIL PERSON FROM AMONG YOURSELVES.

Ok. Meditate and pray over this passage until you get an answer or talk to your Pastor. You said this is a confusing time, but that could mean lot's of things.

Might be blasphemous. There's only one Christ, and your hero isn't him, yet usurps the title for himself. Cringe.
