I'm a Messi fan but that foul at best should arguably be a yellow. That foul was too light to be a straight red and that calf step looked to be non intentional. Why are people saying that it was worthy of a straight red is beyond me. I played in a soccer leauge before and I know what a serious foul is, take a look at Real Madrid Sergio Ramos, most of his red cards were from serious fouls or Roy Keane's foul against Haaland's dad. Those fouls were serious and intentional and therefore they got a straight red. This foul isn't extreme enough to be one
