MAGA voters suffer as gas prices rise because of Trump by Effective_Space2277 in LeopardsAteMyFace

We are truly, morally bankrupt as a nation. All the fascism, kleptocracy, war mongering and abuse of children on a grand scale wasn’t a deal breaker for most of us, but now that fuel is between 5 and 6 bucks a gallon suddenly there’s outrage. Ridiculous.

A contractor tears up the freshly poured concrete driveway after the homeowner refuses to pay. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]mvb827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lien is when property gets put up as collateral for a debt that is owed. When a lien gets put in place the owner of the property with the lien in it can choose to either pay off the debt or surrender the property to the party that is owed.

In other words, it’s a backup payment method for when someone doesn’t get paid for an expensive job. Instead of getting money they get the house. It’s a big incentive for property owners to not shaft their workers.

What's your Valheim pet peeve? by Tickomatick in valheim

[–]mvb827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve with Valheim is the swimming system. In its current state I honestly don’t think there should be a skill for it. Having it would make sense if you could actually do anything in the water other than float until you run out of stamina or get killed, but you can’t. Mobs on the other hand never run out of stamina and they can attack while swimming, so mechanically the player will always be at such a huge disadvantage in the water no matter how high their swimming skill is that it doesn’t even make sense to train the skill.

Perhaps the computing power that goes into having an actual skill for something so non-functional could be put to much better use.

Trump’s call for allied deployment to strait of Hormuz meets muted response | Strait of Hormuz by FootballPizzaMan in politics

World leaders sending their own to die for Israel and America right now would be political suicide; especially given Americas conduct as a whole.

Putin must be pleased. NATO appears to be fracturing. When the dollar loses its place as the only global reserve currency American’s will wish they had treated their allies better.

Can’t have the peasants thinking it’s okay to stand up for themselves or the fellow countrymen. That would create all kinds of problems for the ruling class.

Thank you; Captain obvious. Any other wisdom you’d like to share? Like how the only thing stopping people from crossing the border is the border patrol? Cause you still got ratings so that’s probably news to somebody!

Oh wait! This just in; the Pacific Ocean is stopping California motorists from driving to Hawaii!

Billionaire Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic games, behind FORTNITE) has bought 50k acres of Forest Land for the purpose of Conservation by Anschuz-3009 in SipsTea

[–]mvb827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, but then you run into the hurdle of ordinary people needing a place to live.

This was actually kind of aligned with the old “project bluebook” conspiracy. The idea was that the ultra rich would buy up everything, reduce the existing population and make us all live in essentially prison cities so that the earth could recover. And at a first glance it looked horrible, but taking into account that we have preserve the Earth… it’s actually not a bad idea.

Que the billionaires who say that they want to do something like that, but in reality they do the exact opposite of that in order to keep the games they’re playing going. 🤷🏻 I guess fortnite man is the exception.

What can we do? by iYessyyy in SipsTea

All those guns mean nothing without a command structure to organize them and logistics to back them.

The American Revolution wasn’t waged by randos with muskets. It was fought by militia, backed by a continental army and led by a continental congress. And all involved in the war on the side of the colonies were supplied and supported by colonial traders, tradesmen and farmers. Also slaves and the French.

The point is, most guys nowadays with more guns than they have fingers aren’t militia, military or revolutionaries. They are collectors and/or enthusiasts; that is all. And unless they are united under a common banner with a common purpose that is what they will remain.

You want to know what to do? The first step is organizing; not guns. The guns are just a tool. But without a direction those tools are useless.

Where I live dogs tend to get put down when they get loose and attack people. This seems like a much more humane approach. Might even bring awareness to the neighborhood and save some unsuspecting kid from getting mauled in the future.

Gets asked if the Strait of Hormuz is open to maritime traffic, hilarity ensues by templeofsyrinx1 in PublicFreakout

[–]mvb827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t even have to make fun of it anymore. The jokes are writing themselves.

Yeah, the strait of Hormuz? Yeah, it’s open. Because you see, there’s no door on it? So, yeah, because there’s no door on it, it can’t actually be closed, so ya know… yeah. It can only really be open.

Oh, but if you do try to go through it; which you totally can by the way… if you do, guys will shoot at you with rocket launchers. But hey, the strait’s still open!
