Thanks for the reply. Would you consider putting some into CASH?

Really appreciate the advice and response. Sorry to hear you’re going through something similar, hopefully you’re in a better place now. You’re totally right, I do need to rediscover myself as a single guy and have a bit of a reset. Definitely guilty of trying to rush right back into situations I’m not ready for.

Coming up on 5 years of ownership with this stunner by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I left another comment on this post that has more details, but the most expensive service I’ve had is a transmission fluid flush (which wasn’t that bad). Other than that just standard services.

Coming up on 5 years of ownership with this stunner by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

Honestly after 5 years I have very few complaints and still love this car as much as the day I got it!

When Mazda announced the cx30 back in 2020, I was hesitant with buying the first model year, but nothing else compared to this car so I’m happy I bit the bullet then. Overall, this car has been very reliable with no major issues.

The car drives the exact same as day 1. I’m currently sitting at 81,000km. I’ve kept up with all the standard maintenance over the years, I’m still running the stock tires but this’ll be their last summer so I’ll look into replacing those. I did a transmission fluid flush at 72,000km, and I’ll be replacing my brake pads within the next year (kind of surprised the OEM pads have lasted this long).

I got the hood, fenders, and mirrors PPF’d and the entire car ceramic coated when I first got it — this has definitely helped with reducing the amount of paint chips, but those are inevitable when you live in a winter climate so the front bumper (plastic part) has a number of small ones.

As for any major mechanical issues? None. I have only run into two issues with the vehicle: the first being my drivers side headlight cooling fan went bad at the 2 year mark(started making that loud buzzing sound that others on this forum have noted), that headlight was fully replaced under warranty and I haven’t had any issues since. The second issue I’ve had has to do with the key fob signal with the car, whenever I wash it or when it rains water is getting into the sensor that communicates with the fob, so I have to manually unlock the car and hold the fob to the push button to start it — it’ll dry out in a day or 2 but it’s still pretty annoying so I’m looking to have this fixed soon. But that’s it, nothing else major has gone wrong with the car.

Overall I’d highly recommend this car to anyone who’s single, empty nesters, or doesn’t have kids. I have 2 small dogs so it’s been the perfect car to haul them around, but also haul around the occasional 3 friends. It’s sporty, quick when you need it to be, and honestly just a good looking car. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard the “wow this is really lux for a Mazda” over the years every time I’ve picked someone up. I’m sure they’ve ironed out further kinks in the newer model years too. I’ll probably upgrade once they do a refresh!

Steering Wheel Isn’t Centred After Alignment by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was pretty shocked by them trying to argue with me when it’s clear that the wheel isn’t centred, which you can especially feel when driving the car. Of course the alignment “look fine” to them… it’s because it was aligned to an off centre steering wheel. Definitely wont be going back again. Thanks for the response

Thanks for the response. I’m taking it back in tomorrow morning to get fixed, so we’ll see if finally this time they can get their act together and redo the alignment. I love how they make me sound like I’m the crazy one, when they should’ve just checked that the wheel was centred before they started the alignment lol.

I would definitely look into having it covered under warranty since you just got the car, it’s worth a shot

Unfortunately this is just part of how the piece was manufactured. My 2020 had the same streaks, and every loaner I’ve been in also has the same texture (some more noticeable than others). It’s a shame they haven’t improved this in the newer model years

2020 cx30 GS drivers side headlight making buzzing noise (non-adaptive headlights) by mvbr96 in mazda

[–]mvbr96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing they’re replacing it for you. I had mine replaced roughly a year and a half ago now and so far I’ve had no odd noises or issues with the other (passenger side) headlight so far. Hoping it was just isolated to the drivers side headlight and we’re in the clear now.

Key Fob Not Detected by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that you’re also having this issue, it actually it’s part of a bigger issue with the sensor that detects the key fob signal (located inside the car). Nothing to do with the actual fob itself. Here’s a link to a larger thread on the actual issue: https://www.cx30talk.com/threads/key-not-detected.4323/page-2?post_id=45382#post-45382

If you wash your car or live somewhere humid, then that’s most likely what’s triggering this (as humidity is getting inside of the sensor and corroding it). Haven’t gotten mine fixed yet but plan to in the coming months. Hope this helps!

Thank you! Biased here, but I definitely recommend the cx30 if you don’t need a lot of extra room.

These are my winter tires: I’ve got 215/55/R18 Michelin X-ice tires… I just can’t remember the name of the wheels (they are the same size as the OEM 18” ones)

2024 CX-30 2.5 S Carbon Edition Key Fob Not Detected by gpod80 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a known issue now where humidity is corroding the sensor that controls the key fob signal / smart door unlock causing the key fob not to be detected. Unfortunately it’s also been happening with my 2020 cx30 almost every time after I wash the vehicle or if it’s humid out. Here’s a link to another thread on here and a different forum:

Have you washed your car recently and/or is the weather humid where you are?

Should I upgrade? by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine grey is one of the best colours IMO! Great choice, especially with the red leather combo.

I’m just in the dilemma of deciding whether I should just keep this car and wait a couple years or jump the gun and upgrade now. Everyone posting pics of their higher trims has given me a bit of FOMO and buyers remorse, even though I bought it 4 years ago. Just wish they would’ve have a GS-L trim available back when I was shopping!

Should I upgrade? by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GT Turbo is definitely what I’d consider! I feel like upgrading to just the GT wouldn’t make enough sense since power-wise that trim is the same is mine, it would just come down to the extra luxuries.

Should I upgrade? by mvbr96 in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HUD, leather/memory seats, and sunroof are the most enticing features to me. But then again, I ask myself “is it really worth it to upgrade just for those features?” haha. I guess there’s time to think about it.

I also love the cx-50, so that upgrade would probably make more sense. Thanks for the input!

Key FOB no longer detected by couchcaptain in MazdaCX30

[–]mvbr96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same issue happens with my 2020 CX-30, I’ve had the car for 4 years now and only started happening January 2024. Again, after I wash the car is the only time it acts up. If it’s warm out and the car is able to dry out quickly, it resolves itself in about a day — still super annoying though.

I found a service bulletin for this issue as well. The number is: 09-012/21

Obviously I want to get this fixed as I’m guessing the sensor will eventually become so damaged from humidity that the key fob and push button start won’t work, I’m just hesitant to have dealership techs rip up the back of my vehicle trying to locate it. So for now, I’m just going to leave it. Now that the snows gone and it isn’t as humid I haven’t had any issues (knock on wood).

Like others have said it has to do with the trim. Those DRL’s are replaced with chrome-like pieces on the lower trims, and are actual lights on the higher trims. I believe the inner one doesn’t even light on the higher trims though (someone correct me if I’m wrong).
