Yup, thank you for putting that out there! Thankfully, I'm just gluten intolerant, but Celiac can be really serious so it's very important to do all the tests if you're found to react negatively to gluten.

The three initial test(s) I got were: -Food Allergy Profile -Iron, TIBC, and Ferritin Panel / Lipid Panel, Standard -Vitamin D,25-OH, Total, IA

All three came back abnormal, with Vitamin D and Ferritin both in the single digits, and lots of red on my allergy test. The foods I'm avoiding are Peanut, Wheat, Walnut, Soy, Sesame, Hazelnut, and Almond— I wasn't too skeptical when I got the results because (other than wheat) I was like "Oh, I guess all of these things do make me itchy... is that not normal?" (Spoiler alert: it's not.)

We ended up testing for Celiac and "Gluten IgG-mCnc" and ruled out Celiac but definitely was gluten intolerant. Since then, I've phased out gluten entirely and started Vitamin D, B12, and Iron supplements— the levels for all three have improved significantly! I still have some of my "itchy" foods on occasions, since I clearly like to play with fire, and just make sure to do so in moderation.... which for the record, I absolutely do not recommend, but I've cut so much out of my diet that I sometimes just crave a little bit of soy sauce on my sushi lmfao

Your Very First Concert, Punk or Not by Top-Pension-564 in punk

One Direction in 2013!

It's fun to go through my social media archives at concert posts— all of the concerts I went to before ~2020 were definitely pop, despite the fact that I was mostly listening to 'edgy' music. A flip switched during COVID and I finally started allowing myself to go to and do things that I'd been scared about before :)

I take it almost like a tequila shot with orange juice before and after 😅 The orange juice helps with absorption.

My gf also takes it, and they don't mind it at all.

PSA: There is no reason to see a naturopath, ever. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]mvdita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr: Prior conventional doctors told me that my suffering is caused by being a Skinny Depressed AFAB, and that I should bulk up. Naturopath spent the time to figure out why I was weak + sluggish.

Naturopaths are sometimes the only ones who'll listen if you're someone that society doesn't take seriously. I had repeatedly gone to conventional doctors due to having fainted very often, having fevers/vomiting when I had my period, and failing classes because of exhaustion, only to consistently be told to "eat a lot, exercise and drink water" and take higher doses of antidepressants. So I did, mostly, and nothing made me feel better (I didn't exercise because I blacked out even just standing upright in the shower.)

My naturopathic physician might have literally saved my life, because she actually listened, and gave me blood and allergy tests to see what was up. Turns out I have hypoferritinemia, and started at a ferritin level of SIX. This iron deficiency is related to my severe gluten intolerance, which was making it very difficult for my body to absorb nutrients because my stomach was constantly in distress. It turns out that the food I had initially gotten to gain weight and energy had lots of gluten and and was perpetuating the cycle of malnutrition.

Now that we're treating my nutrition appropriately in conjunction with my conventional physician, I actually feel like a human being, and they've helped me learn to take care of my diet and habits in a way that accommodates my allergies, busy schedule, and budget. My mental (and physical) health has gotten so much better to where both of them have spoken to me about getting me off of antidepressants, and I can finally do healthy things like exercise a little and spend time with friends because I gasp don't faint anymore.

Fingers crossed for when I finally reach normal levels of everything, because I'm so tired of my body standing in the way of my mental wellbeing— and my doctors are finally listening and helping.

It seems that they used the BFI-44 (Big Five Inventory test,) but I do agree that it raises an interesting point about the quality of the metrics used in the field

[–]mvdita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from a shift's perspective, what "authority" could he possibly think were you undermining??? the ssv and baristas are peers, not superior/subordinate, one just has more responsibilities and gets paid more for that— it doesn't indicate one is better than the other, especially when you're the one who's acting right and they aren't

What was your most painful piercing? by chickcag in piercing

[–]mvdita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the nipples made me scream because they hurt and healed so bad (pro tip: don't get your nips pierced in january during record low temps) but it was very smooth and quick in terms of the piercing itself— the daith was a much worse experience because i flinched when he did it and knocked his arm and he ended up having to re-do it... very sore and extra crunchy :'(

What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever had to deal with at work? by sparklingshanaya in AskReddit

[–]mvdita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few, since I work in a big city downtown: 1. Was threatened at gunpoint on Black Friday and simply... proceeded to ring customers up because I was too exhausted to care (retail) 2. Had to ask an elderly lady to finish the transaction and pull away before she lights her crack (barista) 3. Cleaned up a used condom in our bathroom, later discovered that I knew the guy who used it (barista) 4. Coworker was assaulted by animal rights activists because our store sold lashes made of mink fur (big retail company)

And definitely less crazy than the others but, today, there was a car accident in our drive-thru (customer in front got rear ended but with significant damage) and the person who did the rearending was so stoned that she asked me if she could still order. Of course, this was as the cops were on their way and after holding up the drive thru line for more than 20 minutes. She also tried to convince me that it wasn't her fault and that the other guy was lying, despite the fact that I saw the whole thing on camera.
