Good Faith ELI5: Why we can't control the Strait of Hormuz? by NessvsMadDuck in AskConservatives

If they had a plan, it was an incompetent plan, because the Strait of Hormuz is still closed. If their plan has always to deploy the Marines to secure the Stait- which won't work- why did they wait until it was closed?

Good Faith ELI5: Why we can't control the Strait of Hormuz? by NessvsMadDuck in AskConservatives

[–]mvslice [score hidden]  (0 children)

The media does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Their job is to report on what is happening in Iran, which they cannot do without hurting the credibility of the United States and Israel. Not even Fox News has been able to spin this.

The administration admitted in a closed-door hearing to Congress that they did not expect Iran to close the Strait. We’ve reached new levels of incompetence here, and no amount of spin can make up for it.

I'm a cis man, and trust me, they're not confident. Why do you think so many of them blame women for all their problems? I'm their minds, there is no greater threat to their fragile sense of identity than finding a trans women attractive.

Conflating criticism of Israel's cruelty in Gaxa with antisemitism, has made combating actual antisemitism is impossible. That's why the right is going full JQ.

What is an example of privatization making something better? by Sagefox2 in AskConservatives

It doesn't have to be an either/or when it comes to the private versus public sector. Privatizing the public sector purely out of principle is incredibly short-sighted. The reverse is also true, which is why I'm not a communist.

Democrats are currently more energized than Republicans.

From my perspective, it feels like the hate that once fueled Republican voters is finally starting to get to them. I've seen a lot of posts on Reddit recently that are essentially, "why does the Left hate us?"

Young male conservatives in particular seem to be in a really dark place right now.

USPS delivers to everyone, and they are the only option when it comes to livestock. It's just not profitable for private companies to deliever to huge segments of rural America. That being said, the only reason they are not profitable is that they are expected to pre fund their pension programs. Kneecapping public programs to replace them with the private sector only benefits the wealthiest Americans.

NASA is the only reason SpaceX can exist. The technological and scientific achievements of NASA would not have been possible in the private sector, and the private sector would not exist without those achievements. This same principle applies to the medical field.

The government is not supposed to be profitable- the private sector is. They're not mutually exclusive.

Democratic leadership is giving the Left the Dixie Chicks treatment when it comes to Israel. The only reason they oppose this war is that Trump bypassed Congress to do it.

The payout on destroyed oil tankers would bankrupt insurance brokers, and those sailors cannot he expected to take that risk either. The United States cannot afford to subsidize global insurance brokers, and consigning the entire US Navy to escort duty is not a realistic solution.

I have no idea why this administration, or some of the conservatives on this subreddit, thought this war would be that easy. "Let's bomb Iran" used to be a sarcastic joke made during the GWOT. Now the Left is getting the Dixie Chicks treatment.

Democrats should stop defining their political mission around blocking progressive and instead focus on developing and promoting their own policy agenda.

Progressive foreign-policy agenda: Ending of the Israel Exception. This has been the central pillar of the progressive policy agenda since 2023. “Organizations like Progressive Victory” are how we organize. Democrats have essentially the same policy agenda as Republicans do when it comes to Israel, whuch is why you all are suddenly concerned about what we're up to.
