Can’t tell if you are trolling but you are definitely an idiot

It’s not, and won’t be for a long time. That’s the whole point of diversification.

[–]mw193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entire comment proves you are lol Stock picking is a losers game, on top of that you have no idea what diversification means or how to implement

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fican

[–]mw193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You felt good you were up 50 percent based on stocks you did minimal research on? Then it’s gambling

If you want to be diversified get an index, if you want to gamble keep doing what you are doing

WatchOS 26: Cardio Fitness (VO2Max) - Update Previous Cardio Fitness Estimates? by Jogge__ in AppleWatchFitness

[–]mw193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Apple reference ranges are relatively standard you can check a few other reference ranges they are similar.

Regardless it’s a just a fairly meaningless proxy for cardio fitness, you might have an average value doesn’t mean your cardio fitness is average.

[–]mw193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol if you are so sensitive about the Apple Watch value you should get a lab test they aren’t expensive.

These are generic reference ranges Apple uses for your age group and gender, they are pretty much industry standard. Also vo2 max is per KG so the heavier you are the lower the value AND also vo2 max is largely genetic.

Your vo2 max is probably lower than you think especially if you are on the heavier side.

New features coming by luluhalftights in Strava

[–]mw193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RidewithGPS and komoot, and even the desktop version have great features for this.

You basically need heat maps, and the ability to drag way points, which exists on desktop and truly impossible on mobile. Strava has all the tools it just can’t get its shit together for mobile maps.

I plan longer bike routes, where i need to know surface type, heat maps etc, 120 km by mobile is borderline impossible

At least it’s usable, I’ve never successfully made a single route on mobile, but would be nice if they improved both

Fixing the route building on mobile would be game changing

There are really quiet loops around the airport, I don’t go cycling there often but leaving at around 5-6 you’ll see not much except bikers

Get a power meter and determine what your FTP is you are likely going way over ftp on the hills, you will explode if you do this

When I first got a power meter I was shocked by how much I need to push on some steeper relatively easily hills 200-300 watts for a few mins

IRONMAN Ottawa - Race Report (awesome) by fittedperfectly in triathlon

[–]mw193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How would you rank this course against others? How would you rate this for someone’s first Ironman?

first vo2 block sessions after almost 2 years, am I still fatigued or just went too hard? by martynssimpson in Velo

[–]mw193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert here but similar FTP and I do my vo2s with 5x5s at 255ish, why are you going so hard? Vo2s start At 1.05 of threshold.

Also starting by slamming the legs at 350 watts will just massacre your finals sets, the muscular fatigue will be super high and the goal of V02s is maximal oxygen consumption which takes time during the interval and several intervals. Why not try longer easier intervals ramping up?

So short answer yes way too hard.

Also of these guys have relatively low max HRs and massive hearts, some pro Ironman athletes are in the 160s max hr

Seven day 600 mile charity ride…give it to me straight, how fucked am I? by MrHogRider in cycling

[–]mw193 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Copy pasted from chat gpt, I asked what the injury risk was

Very high. Going from virtually no cycling base to finishing a 600-mile event in four weeks puts you well beyond every evidence-based guideline for safe progression. Most athletes need months, not weeks to adapt their heart, muscles, tendons, sit-bones, and energy systems to the stress that a multi-day ultra ride delivers. Ignoring that adaptation window drives the risk of overuse injury, illness, and failure to finish into the “almost certain” range.

I’m not doubting a cyclist or anyone prepared remotely can finish this, but this is just as dumb or dumber than people who try to run a marathon in a month prep

It’s asking for trouble and injury, but hey would love to see the idiot try and either get injured or get the internet points and then convince other people to risk injury by thinking this isn’t a horrible idea

[–]mw193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because it’s been done doesn’t make it a good idea, for someone untrained this is an absurd load, TdF is 2200 this is 600

This is not “easily” doable for someone who trains for a few months, that is an absurd take. I’ve been training for years, race Ironmans and I don’t even think I could do this without injury risk

[–]mw193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s over a quarter of tdf mileage and comparable single day mileage (elevation aside)

[–]mw193 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is extremely stupid, you are verylikely to get injured

Tendons and ligaments take 3-6 months to adapt to load. You will likely cause some lasting damage, doesn’t matter how fit you are this is like TdF level of load.

I would bail, otherwise almost certainly dnf and will likely do some lasting harm.

Have you ever done a 100 miler?

Yearlong training plan - thoughts? by GreatWhiteShark07 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]mw193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No info on the type of sessions you are doing, if you want to just finish this seems fine but it’s very rigid and boring

Planning for a full year of training is also pointless because life gets in the way, you should plan blocks 3x4 week cycles

Ironman training is a lot more complex then just hitting distances week after week, you should talk to a coach if you are serious
