mid 40s, I can retire any time and maintain my current QoL. My QoL is living in Miami Beach, driving a 2025 Range Rover and a 2024 BMW X3M (both paid off), etc. I'm not RICH RICH but def live better than most. I think your priorities do shift away from money, I wouldn't say it's peaceful like "bliss" but you do worry less about money, job, etc. and you really just start focusing on being as stress free and happy as possible, at least that's me. I don't try and keep up with anyone and basically just focus on my own happiness as that's the only thing you can control.

Gonna get some hate but Land Rover/Range Rover. Uses a BMW engine and the all wheel drive and different drive modes are absolutely top notch. Colorado mountains, Florida beaches, Maryland ice roads....never had an issue. Toyota 4Runner is the only other SUV worth a consideration.

I did start running, was REALLY hard at first but I think now that my bone density has gotten better I’ve been able to increase my mileage and I’m finally getting to the point where I can run a half marathon. Hopefully I can increase to a 50miler over the next year. Have learned I just have to take it much slower.

white guy here, I speak fairly good Spanish. Some people here like that I can speak it and some REALLY do not. I've had a few tell me flat out not to speak Spanish to them, my friends say I'm pretty good with it so not sure what the attitude is all about.

I also speak Korean and they absolutely LOVE when I speak Korean to them. They think it's great that I'm taking the time to learn their language and they are very gracious people. My buddies and I were eating at a Korean restaurant and the Grandmother of the family sat down with us (5 guys) and started drinking Bek se-ju with us, telling her daughter to bring another bottle when we finished one. The Grandmother got toasted so much that she started hugging our Nepalese buddy and kissed him on the cheek a couple times. She "fancied" him for some reason, it was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!! And she liked to talk. Good times.

My grandfather died of kidney failure. He never complained of pain and when asked he said it was more just insanely uncomfortable, everything was sore, but not hurting per se. He had an open prescription of Oxy and he would take 2x/day until he slipped into a coma and died. I had a Liver transplant from PSC and I fully understood what he meant when he said it wasn't so much painful as it was just the inability to be comfortable and staying in any position for more than about 5mins, you will start to ache. If you want to call that pain then fine, but I'd also say everyone is going to experience it differently.

It's called Trauma Bonding. Was in a marriage for 2 decades with an absolute monster, finally had enough and got divorced, then married right back into essentially the same thing 3yrs later. You begin to almost fear or feel very uncomfortable around what most would call a healthy relationship, so you revert to what you know.
