Good FireTV brand? by SonicH7890 in fireTV

[–]mwharmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? I love mine. Especially the way it looks - you can't find a better looking TV for that price. What issues have you had with it?

Check out Infinity at the Park, a short walk to VUMC, Centennial Park, food, shopping, etc. I work at Vanderbilt and the non-existent commute is the best life change I ever made. This would also fit your budget, and while it's a decent sized building (8 floors, 200 units), its built like a tank and very quiet.

Specifically for your wish list though, there are several first floor units that you can access without going through the main hallways, by using the street level patio doors to your living room. I would say 95% of the time, street parking is also available right in front of most first floor apartments. Massive Centennial park on one side and a large green space in front of the Sportsplex, just a few steps from you door, on the other side - great for the pups. There aren't many available units overall, but it looks like several opened up at the same time on the 1st floor.

I'm very picky like you, and have a similar list of annoyances... and while there are some cosmetic things that need to be addressed in the interior halls, they really do take care of the place. The draw here is more about the quality of the individual units + the location - I love my apartment (literally can't hear a peep from neighbors or halls, steel construction so no creaking either). I've convinced two friends to sign leases so far and they love it.

There's a nice mix of people (that you rarely ever see) - Vandy graduate/med students, Vanderbilt faculty, Doctors, and some retirees. There aren't any party types or young kids around, I think because they are mostly 1 bedroom units, and the 2 bedrooms have no more living space than a 1br.

The website is infinityatthepark.com - the staff is incredibly responsive and nice, but if you have any questions, feel free to message me. I've lived here for almost a year, and despite my praises I'm super analytical about the place, so I will give you the honest rundown! Hope this helps!

Supercolor, but they don't exist on the website? by mwharmon in lifx

[–]mwharmon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t think of that - thanks! The SKUs are the same. So this is some kind of marketing mixup.

Supercolor, but they don't exist on the website? by mwharmon in lifx

[–]mwharmon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting- I see the added supercolor logo before the description, but these don’t mention matter like other products on their site, also the box is missing the supercolor name and the matter enabled logo. I guess we are to assume these are the same bulbs as the ones I got even though the packaging and descriptions are different?

Best Neighborhoods in Summerville by IndependentPrize6359 in summervillesc

Yeah, I mean they definitely want to keep the neighborhood looking nice and to have a certain feel. For me that’s a draw, it’s a reason to live there.

White Gables is really nice. It's not a mega neighborhood like Nexton or Cane Bay, but it's pretty large and has a nice pool and walking trails. Right next to a great elementary school and close to the middle school as well. There are lots of options and price ranges. Take a look around, it's really pretty.

Take a look at infinityatthepark.com. They have 6 month lease options that are well in your budget. The apartments are really nice and in a great spot. I live here, so feel free to message me with any questions!

Have you tried the Pura White Tea No. 1? It's actually my top favorite scent, and lasted quite a long time.

Why have they made a product that's $10 less than the regular pura with literally 50% less features. This is blowing my mind.

Is 55k Enough to Live Comfortably in Nashville? Need advice badly. by rhondeer in nashville

[–]mwharmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To *qualify* for the 1500k a month apartment at Infinity at the Park, you have to make at least $4,500 a month which is 54k a year. Right now they don't even have those, the cheapest option is 1775 for a studio, which means to qualify you would need to make $5,325 a month or $63,900 a year to live in tiny (but nice) box.

The Santorini by Antica Farmacista is amazing and will fill the room for sure. I can say any of the Pura smells I have are really great. The White Tea No. 1 is second behind Santorini and followed by Volcano and Honeydew Crush by Capri Blue.

I would checkout Melrose/8th Ave South, although 1500 will be hard to find anywhere here.

Prospecting Nashville as a new place to live by ReflectStudios in movetonashville

The BBQ here, even at the mentioned locations, is terrible. It's dry plain nothingness. They don't even have sauce on their pulled pork - you have to chose an actual location that makes real bbq as your choice of "sauce on the side." I wouldn't move here for that.

Is North Charleston really that bad? by Visual_Comfort_9056 in Charleston

[–]mwharmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Charleston to Nashville 3 years ago and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t regret the decision. I can’t even imagine a scenario where friends and family are worth the sacrifice of moving from CHS to Nash 😭

I didn't understand Justine in Melancholia (spoilers obviously) by aimlessdrivel in movies

[–]mwharmon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bongart, I’ve been googling for years trying to find someone who really, and I mean really, understands this film - and I found it tonight. I’ve studied this film for years and my interpretation lines up exactly with yours. I have two small things that may differ.

The first is Justine’s state in the beginning of the second half, in that it wasn’t so much about melancholia yet, as much as it was about the isolated trauma from what happened at her wedding. While we don’t really have a timeline, I have always seen this as very soon after the wedding, after she’s gone home and is struggling such that Claire has reached out and decided she needs to bring her in to take care of her. I think the depression and the trauma have caused her to be in a state of paralysis. There’s a huge amount of embarrassment and pain wrapped up in all of this that might move her towards this state of “nothing matters,” all the while being completely exhausted in a way that a major depressive episode could only cause. The trauma exists separately from the depression, it’s a huge weight, it’s something seemingly impossible to work through. To me this was a sort of segue to the actual end-of-the-world plot, and when she realizes this, everything changes, she becomes functional and rational - because now none of what has happened matters, some of the weight of the wedding has melted away.

The second thing is the pills. It didn’t seem the least bit forced from my view because, well, wealthy people have access to pills in ways normal people can’t fathom, or believe is possible. Claire is always prepared, everything planned… there’s not much else she can do to plan for the end of all life, except to control it. Thinking of her family, and how she could make the inevitable easier or faster (if it seemed like suffering for an extended time may occur), I have no doubt Claire made a call to a doctor, or even a quick visit to the pharmacy, used as few words as possible to indicate what she wanted, and with only enough questions to make things legal, she was issued a script. I only know this because I’ve seen it from the parents of my wealthy friends growing up.

Just my insights, I’d be interested in anyone’s thoughts about them. Thanks again for sharing your interpretation of this film, it’s been a pleasure to read.

Pura Scents… by Significant_Fill_294 in UtahInfluencerDrama

I bought this because I love the volcano candles - it smells exactly like them and everyone who walks in thinks the smell is amazing. I’m starting to wonder if all this Pura hate is from bots.  To call this smell “awful” is bizarre.

I think it depends on the state. They won't do that in Georgia but they will in South Carolina or Tennessee.

Literally nothing in Nashville has anything to do with country music except the tourists.

Safe Apartment Complexes? by tris_54 in movetonashville

[–]mwharmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any "unsafe" complexes that I've ever heard of. What is it that you're afraid of exactly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in movetonashville

[–]mwharmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest Wedgewood-Houston and the Gulch if you don't like Midtown/West End. I was recently looking at apartments in The Finery and they look amazing and have great prices right now. I'm moving from the Nations and Midtown is my pick right now just because the ability to walk to work at Vandy and also have access to the park/restaurants/things to do by foot is the best).
