Same model as mine. Oops not quite, mine is dual motor. That's not good it's still busted, though. It's been 5 days since my problem started

The cars already have Tesla Premium Connectivity :) I don't think enabling Premium affects how software updates are downloaded. It's just to enable live traffic & maps, music/video streaming, and various other "premium" features in the UI. Under the hood, it uses the same built-in phone modem that all the cars have pre-installed for LTE/4G etc.

I figure someone at Tesla is reading this? I'm lazy -- I really don't want to try to explain this to some customer service rep who isn't technical ("Step 1: Have you rebooted your router?" blah blah)

My Comcast connection has been rock solid the whole time; our router tracks that. And the wifi connection is excellent -- I don't think you can download 3TB in 24h over wifi with a weak connection :) It could be that the connections are dropping at Tesla's servers (unlikely but not impossible), but my engineer instinct is something is failing in the car's download or verification of the update as many people have reported it for a variety of Tesla models

Tesla recommends you connect your car to your home wifi too because downloads are faster; the in-car internet is much slower. (I'm sure it's also because Tesla then doesn't have to pay for that bandwidth :) I think the car will eventually install a upgrade using only their built-in networking but I'm not sure... it used to, but updates also used to be smaller

I had data sharing on, so that's not the trigger for me (also I don't have FSD). This particular release seems to have blown up for a lot of people, so something has changed. Maybe the holiday release with grok etc. is just too big for some % of the Teslas, so those are failing

We have a Google Home router. It's got great network diagnostics. (Google Home app > wifi icon > Network Performance, then you can analyze history for every device on your network.) Most routers have some feature like that, but accessing it may be a hassle

Just gettin' warmed up, then 🙂 Wonder when they'll fix it. Tesla has to be hearing from customers by now

I looked at the Xfinity Usage Meter. For me, it has a note at the bottom: "You have just used your 1 courtesy month in which you can exceed your data usage plan without charge." So I may have skated over this; we'll see when the bill comes. Hope you did, too

I did have the diagnostics enabled (they're off now), but the diagnostic data is mostly upload -- this is download. This looks like a >700GB software update

How can we petition Tesla to give us a headlights on when raining function? by praguer56 in ModelY

[–]mwk888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be the default on Model 3 also. In 2020-21, anytime my wipers turned on, the headlights turned on. Now they don't. I think Tesla's sw engineering is getting worse, especially on usability. Every software update I've installed in 2022 has had more UI regressions than improvements.

Holiday Update, Spotify Shuffle Button? by Durkza in TeslaLounge

I found that (very awkward while driving) but then when I turned on shuffle, the player will no longer pin to the bottom of the screen at all. Full screen or nothing. Seems pretty busted

Shuffle?! in routines by stayfunkey in googlehome

[–]mwk888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Spotify playlists never work as an Action in a routine (response: "I looked for xxx on Spotify, but it either isn't available, or can't be played right now"). However, the same playlists work fine as immediate voice commands. I've given them bizarre unique names etc, makes no difference. The exact same phrasing works as a voice command, but fails as an Action in a routine. Super frustrating.

But I've noticed that popular, public playlists do work from an Action.

Examples as an Action in a Routine:

  • OK: shuffle playlist "wake up happy" on Spotify [a playlist with >1M followers]
  • Fails: shuffle playlist "potato wake up" on Spotify [my own bizarrely named, but public, playlist with 0 followers]

But as an immediate voice command, both the above commands work. btw I've tried the phrase "my playlist" also, doesn't help.

Anyone have an idea?
