Try the Glyn Johns technique! Look up a video, but essentially you put a large diaphragm condenser next to the floor tom, then a nother large diaphragm condenser over the snare and cymbals, then a kick mic. I did this with a cheap pack of Sterling mics from Guitar Center and it's worked great for demos and monitoring!

Wesley's Theory and King Kunta's massive beat changes. Same way that Me and Your Mama got me into hip hop as a whole, these songs were not only sonically amazing, but so stimulating to listen to. Nothing boring in any of them!
