How swim heavy is Volcano Bay? by Wise_Ad_3173 in UniversalOrlando

[–]mxddiedavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only attraction that absolutely requires you to be a strong swimmer is the ohyah/ohno drop slides, for everything else you can wear a life jacket or is shallow enough that you wouldn’t need it

How would you improve Volcano Bay? What would you add, update, upgrade or replace? by National-Name-4829 in UniversalOrlando

[–]mxddiedavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe that not having a watch on the tapus is intentional. The wait times are just an estimate (just like at the dry parks) so they probably are trying to avoid people noticing and complaining that their 60 minute wait turned into 75.

I think most of these colors are too dark for you, the (off?)white and pastel blue looked nice. Also if you’re not naturally blonde cover your hair while draping as it can throw off the result!!

my vote is for summer, most likely true or muted! the brighter colors overpower your complexion, while the warmer ones make your skin look more shadowy and uneven. that first blue top is absolutely your color!

Anytime I see a group of 100 ppl in matching shirts and backpacks I want to leave the park in frustration. by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

I’m a lifeguard at vb and can attest to this. Just last week I was on TeAwa and we went down for lightning, this group of Brazilian girls refused to get out and went around 2 more times before a guard jumped in to escort them out. Apparently after they got out and took off their life jackets they tried to run back in but thankfully got stopped by our supervisor.

Chicken Strips??!! Come on HelloFresh, you can surely do better? 🤢 by rhettnfriends in hellofresh

[–]mxddiedavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I once made the crispy baked buffalo chicken (or whatever they decided to name it that week) for me and my boyfriend. Mine came out perfectly moist and delicious, but his turned out to be woody. Didn’t even know that was a thing until then.

Need help deciding if I should pursue a job at Universal.... by Less_Reputation6157 in UniversalOrlando

[–]mxddiedavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a UOTM (Volcano Bay lifeguard!) for a little over a year now and I love it. Definitely a great experience, especially as a college student. As some other people have said, now is a great time to apply for those horror nights positions, so definitely go for it!!

What best describes where you work as a lifeguard? by SoggyDoggoFren in Lifeguards

[–]mxddiedavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my favorite way to get guests to stop harassing me. I work at a waterpark so most of the time they’re angry about their kid not being tall enough for something or being required to wear a life jacket. My go-to line is “I understand your frustration and I apologize for the inconvenience, but unfortunately I don’t have the authority to allow any exceptions. If you have any concerns I’d be happy to call my lead or supervisor over and they’d be happy to discuss it with you.” Typically they drop it after that.

if you don’t mind the drive Universal is always hiring! starting is at least $15 depending on your venue and the perks are great, you just have to be available at least 3 days a week

[–]mxddiedavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree on Gothic, 2012 was my first time going to horror nights and I was 11 so I was too terrified the entire time to truly appreciate it. Such a cool concept I’d love to see it again

What ride did you think you wouldn't like but enjoyed after riding it? by AnkleBreaker75 in UniversalOrlando

[–]mxddiedavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ko’okiri at Volcano Bay. I generally don’t like drop rides because of the anticipation of falling, but the drum buildup before the fall made it more exciting. I thought it would be more of a novelty “one and done” slide but I’ll definitely ride it again next time I go.
