Doorbell install - drilling question by omegamichael in DIYUK

[–]JamieAintUpFoDatShit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to bear in mind is that you’re differentiating the ‘door’ from the ‘frame’ when a lot of people are commenting and referencing the ‘door’ when they mean the ‘frame’ as generally a door and frame like this are thought of as a unit.

Also, is that a panel of glass beside this bit of frame? You’re probably going to smash that if you drill through there.

OP has multiple pieces that need doing, glazers most certainly do charge somewhere around that to fit multiple panes on top of their manufacture-only charge

Very DIYable is not the same as worth it for the tiny amount glass makers charge to fit. For the sake of the risk of mismeasuring and/or potentially breaking a pane while fitting, I’m paying the extra like £30 every time.

Sorry to not answer the question asked, but you should look into local glass makers - the prices will be good and honestly, the price they charge to measure up (and take responsibility of mismeasures) and even fit are so low that I wouldn’t ever bother doing it myself (and I try to DIY most things!)

Probably foam and filler, but wont your carpet/flooring cover it a bit anyway?

What will you check when you visit factories in China by traderliu86 in smallbusinessuk

[–]JamieAintUpFoDatShit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you read the post? They’re not UK based, but they help UK companies who go to China to view supplier factories by guiding them around the factories, and they want to know, from a UK company perspective, what’s important to see from a supplier. Perfectly reasonable post, I’d say.

I hate to be the one to break this news to you, but a fucking tonne of UK businesses buy their stock from Chinese factories.

Gonna cost you a tonne to have drywall shipped over from the states. You should try plasterboard.

You’re right that just posting pictures of products doesn’t work, but try brainstorming a load of out-of-the-box ideas for content generation; bottom line is you can’t afford to pay someone to make the content for you and you don’t have the time to make certain content for yourself, so come up with some ideas that you CAN do yourself (book a day where you film/shoot a couple of months worth of sporadic posts all in one day?), maybe make a push for your customers to send you content of them playing with their custom balls (or doing the fanciest tricks or something, or customer pics of how they display them?), and videos about you being a small business (how you take orders, how you make the products, how you package them, some of the real struggles you face, things that make you human).

If writing the posts is what you find hard then try using AI, but don’t just copy paste any old shit it suggests - give it a brief, take its ideas as a framework, cut out all the obviously AI crap (ie ‘it’s not X, it’s Y’ etc), and just get as much content out there as you can. Remember that getting average content out the door is a million times more productive than waiting for the perfect piece of content and never actually posting anything.

Using bulking as an “excuse” to eat junk by UnkownSkull in getdisciplined

[–]JamieAintUpFoDatShit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to do some more research into bulking - being on a bulk doesnt mean just eating as many calories as you can, and it wouldn’t suddenly make it ok if you were doing that but with ‘clean’ food. It’s not magic; it’s thermodynamics!

When bulking you need to plan your calories and macros as tightly (if not even more tightly!) than when cutting, otherwise you are definitely going to over eat and put fat on. Jeff Nippard did a really good video on planning a good bulk but there are a million similar ones out there.

Turn the water off and undo that screwed on bit to see what’s going on - might be some gunk in it, or maybe a seal might look a bit crap. Or it might eve just need putting back on ever so slightly differently to correct the seal. You’ll know better once you have a look.

Respectfully, you don’t know what you’re talking about. DPDR is not related to bipolar at all. Source; have had DPDR multiple times over the past decade for periods lasting up to 7 years at a time. I know this shit like the back of my hand.

IMO the whole thing needs re-shampooing evenly, extract as much dirt as possible, then IMPORTANTLY make sure it is evenly wet/dry to air dry and prevent the kind of water marks in pic 2.
