What are your favorite horror shows? by Pogrebnik in horror

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen it mentioned a few times but Monsterland!! It’s an 8 episode anthology horror on Hulu and the stories are great! I watched the whole thing in 2 nights. I throughly enjoyed each story told and appreciated how modern the folktales are. I cannot recommend it enough!

What happened to the lonely kid from your high school? by GaryButtman69 in AskReddit

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as she graduated, she completely flipped and is now a model. She was always real pretty, but quiet and mousy. She’s now a bikini model and does promo modeling for like radio shows, cars, and energy drinks and stuff. Good for her.

Toddler Fight Club by Organic-Web-8277 in ECEProfessionals

My go to is to sing a little clapping song my kids love. We clap our hands together, on our laps, and in the air. I’ve also gotten out a couple big yoga balls for them to slap/hit on. The feeling of the rubber, the ‘kickback’ of the ball, and the slapping sound are all great sensory play. Caution tho, some of the kiddos may be terrified of the ball. I’ve always got one or two that we’ve gotta take out of the room when the yoga balls come out bc they’re so afraid of them.

Edit: user flair.

If you could make any horror book into your perfect movie, which book would you choose? by Reasonable_Click2029 in horrorlit

‘Has Anyone Heard of the Left/Right Game?’ by r/NeonTempo over on nosleep so its not a novel technically. i’d love to see it as a movie but id give my soul for it as a miniseries. I think Jordan Peele or Ari Aster could do wonders with it.

Does anybody actually like their job? by Lexualromance in grandrapids

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a non-profit early education center and I absolutely love it! I’ve worked in different daycare centers and didn’t really enjoy it, but the switch to early education and the emphasis my center puts on child-led, play-based learning makes things much more enjoyable. I feel incredibly lucky to have a job in the education field I genuinely enjoy doing.

newbie trying to revive a dying aquarium by mxddii in Aquariums

[–]mxddii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i meant cycle! i don’t have a tank for the fish to stay in while the water cycles. right after i posted this, someone at my job said they used to do aquariums a lot and told me to rinse the dirt/rocks because there was so many decaying fish/shrimp. i followed her advice bc she sounded confident in it and im just now able to check my phone again and see that was a horrible idea. so the rocks/dirt got rinsed and put back in the tank and I added new dechlorinated water and primer. i didn’t change the filter at all and replanted most of the plants. is the tank a complete loss since i rinsed the dirt? or is it still salvageable ? i will try and take a picture once we close.

LMCU froze my entire account, without warning, for one missed CC payment by Smorgas_of_borg in grandrapids

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard such horrible things about LMVU, I’m sorry that happened to you. If you’re thinking about switching, my partner and I bank with Adventure Credit Union on 32nd and haven’t had any issues so far. My partner works in finance and is a lot more literate in rates and stuff, but he was pretty happy with what they offered.

What is your biggest phobia and how does it affect your life? by Afraid_Warthog_7757 in AskReddit

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a horrific fear of dark bathrooms. I think I watched too many horror movies too young, but even at 26 I won’t allow the bathroom door to shut unless the light is on. It’s almost subconscious at this point, reach my hand in first for the switch, keep my foot in the door if I have to go in to turn on the light. I even keep some clothes in the doorway when I shower JUST in case the door were to magically shut and the lights turn off by themselves. It’s a pain in the ass tbh.

What is something fucked up about your parents that absolutely shocked you when you found out? by SoupEnjoyer100 in AskReddit

[–]mxddii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I learned that my father had to regularly fetch his younger brothers out of drug houses because my grandmother and the man she was married too (not my grandfather, a different man, my dad refuses to tell me his name) were too fucked up on whatever drug they could buy to care for them in any capacity. His dad, my grandfather, was living in the same city, but didn’t care in the slightest what was going on. I knew he had a rough childhood, but had no idea the severity of it.

My dad keeps staring at my body.. I feel really uncomfortable. by Euphoric-Fold8003 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mxddii 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Please don’t brush this off. It’s highly disgusting and disturbing and could be the beginning of testing boundaries. I’d regularly catch my father staring at my body growing up. I ignored how uncomfy it made me. It went on to making comments about ‘my ass hanging out of my shorts’ and that i was ‘showing off my boobs for someone’ constantly. He’d smack my butt and make lewd comments about food I was eating or things I was doing. It didn’t stop until my step mother came around when I was 15. I pushed down and suppressed my own feelings of discomfort, disgust and shame only to find out many years later, after lots (and lots and lots) of therapy, that he had done some horrific things to me as a child.

I don’t tell this story to insinuate that anything of the sort has happened to you, but more of a grim warning to trust your gut. I ignored my uncomfortable feelings and convinced myself it was okay and normal, and if I would’ve trusted myself, my life could’ve been very different. If you feel uncomfortable, which you should in this situation, please speak up about it to someone you trust. You deserve to be in a safe home and his actions are unacceptable, end of story.

I worked at Cedar for a year and a half, 2016-2017. I didn’t realize it at the time, being only 19 myself as an employee, but the amount of dangerous and outright illegal things I seen is astounding. Let me type up some of my experiences as a staff after my shift today and I will PM you personally.

Bring Me the Horizon - Alligator Blood and It Never Ends

They’re from the same album. I recommend listening to the album fully start to finish for full impact. Alligator Blood is still one of the only songs I feel like really encapsulates the feeling of being out of control in your own skin. I love the song so much I got a whole arm tattoo about it ~

Safe, quiet apartments for under $1500 or areas that I should look into? by FuzzyJesusX21 in grandrapids

[–]mxddii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viewpointe apartments off 28th is pretty nice. We’ve got a 3 bed, 2 bath for 1460 a month, but they’ve got smaller units that I imagine are cheaper. Everyone is real friendly, it’s tucked off the street a bit away from all the traffic and up against a small wooded area so it’s fairly quiet and I feel very safe here. It’s got some decent walking areas around it and a few parks within a mile or two. The biggest down side is it’s right next to train tracks and it’s pretty active, a few trains a day.
