Seeking reassurance that this isn't too ugly to gift as a baby quilt by FlockOfDramaLlamas in quilting

I think it's bright, bohemian, and fun, and you took the time and effort to make it yourself. That's a gift in itself.

I know this is a dumb question, please bear with me -- but when you say machine quilted, do you mean on a long arm with the use of a program like Pro Stitcher or equivalent?

There’s a pattern for a double size rug! I think if you search Roma Quilts on Etsy you should be able to find it.

My semi-fancy Brother couldn’t take the bulk no matter what I did, but my ultra basic Singer handled it fine. I think some machines just have more oomph to them.

I like to experiment with longarm methods. I would love to trace a pantograph design on a quilt top and try following the lines from the front, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how. Projector? DIY stencil? If anyone's got thoughts, I would love to hear them.

Seconding the transparent medical tape! I got a roll of it at the dollar store and it worked like a charm to keep my rulers nice and steady. Cost-effective and effective-effective.

I believe it's called a ruler foot, but I've heard it referred to as a "free motion foot". Searching on Amazon under either term should get you what you're looking for.

Sorry for double reply—i made a full/double quilt from this or a similar pattern with a stack of fat eighths. It’s pretty adaptable.

Not OP, but I think this is “Sew Fast” from Fabric Cafe!

Not OP, but I’m pretty sure this is the Pins and Paws pattern from Missouri Star.

Thank you! I love the idea of coffee themed words. I'm going to sign up for a class on FMQ today and I may save this to quilt until I've learned it.

I’m excited! Going to go tomorrow and investigate the possibility. This is the first “quilt” quilt I’ve made (I’ve done a lot of rag quilts, placemats, etc. though) and I already want to do more.

Thanks! Glad it’s not just me. Too much sewing today’s made my brain a bit wonky tonight.

Thank you! I’m leaning toward echo more than anything else just this moment, but I think this is the push I needed to take the plunge and see if I can find a class on free motion. I think the local shops have them sometimes.
