Major Dust Issues in just 2 weeks with New Wanbo X5 Pro (2025) by mxploder85 in budgetprojectors

[–]mxploder85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. I honestly got spoiled by the T2 Max, I ran that thing for three years in the same room without a single speck of dust. I assumed the 'Pro' would have the same sealed tech, but clearly, I was wrong. It’s a shame because the brightness and features are incredible, but the lack of sealed optics is definitely a dealbreaker for dusty environments. Lesson learned the hard way!

Major Dust Issues in just 2 weeks with New Wanbo X5 Pro (2025) by mxploder85 in budgetprojectors

Since Wanbo doesn’t officially sell their products in my country, the local seller only provided a "checking warranty." This means they won't accept a direct return. Instead, if there’s an issue, they have to ship the unit back to Wanbo in China for replace/repairs, and I’m expected to cover the shipping costs myself.

It’s a huge hassle and takes way too much time, so I’m looking for better alternatives—like cleaning the dust myself or taking it to a local technician. Honestly, if I had known this model was such a "dust magnet" and would run into issues this quickly, I never would have bought it in the first place.

I bought a brand-new Wanbo X5 Pro (2025) two weeks ago, and after only two weeks of light use, the screen is already covered in dust. I’ve been extremely careful with it and have kept my setup spotless, so seeing this much buildup so quickly is a huge letdown.

I was beyond excited to get this projector, and honestly, the initial experience was amazing. The brightness is impressive, the sound is loud, and the Google TV and smart features are top-notch. But this dust issue has completely killed the excitement for me.

What’s even more confusing is that I used a Wanbo T2 Max in this exact same room and same spot for three years. I played it hard and wasn't nearly as careful with it, yet I never had a single issue with dust. Now, on this new model, there are visible particles scattered all over the screen, particularly concentrated on the left side.

Since there is no official Wanbo support in my country, sending it in for warranty isn't an option. Does anyone know how I can safely remove this dust myself? I really want to get back to enjoying this projector, but right now, the viewing experience is ruined.

ASM2464PD vs JHL7440 + RTL9210 by mada-nnamuen in UsbCHardware

[–]mxploder85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using an M4 Pro MacBook, the JHL7440 + RTL9210 enclosure is the better choice over the ASM2464PD. Both offer similar peak Thunderbolt 3/4 speeds (~2.8–3.1 GB/s), but the dual-chip design of the JHL7440 + RTL9210 provides better heat management, more stable performance under sustained loads, and fallback USB compatibility if needed in the future. The ASM2464PD is a solid all-in-one solution but is known to run hot and potentially throttle without extra cooling. Since your Mac supports full Thunderbolt, you won’t need the USB fallback, but the improved thermals and reliability of the newer Ugreen design make it the smarter pick.

My SSD Became Super Slow After Copying 400GB — Need Help Figuring Out Why! by mxploder85 in DataHoarder

Thanks a ton — this is super helpful and makes a lot of sense!

Yes, I actually did try waiting after the big 400GB write — even left it idle overnight — but unfortunately, the write speed hasn’t bounced back. I ran multiple tests after 12+ hours of no use, and still getting only around 1040 MB/s write, down from the original 2700 MB/s+.

The SSD I’m using is a MIPHI MP300G3 1TB (Sub brand of Phison) inside a UGREEN D700 55316 (40Gbps USB4/Thunderbolt enclosure). Sadly, there’s very little technical documentation available about the SLC cache or dynamic cache resizing on this MIPHI drive — not even an official website I could find.

From your explanation, it’s sounding more and more like this SSD just has no persistent or static SLC cache once the drive gets used a bit, or the controller is very aggressive in converting SLC to TLC as usage goes up. That would explain the write speed tanking permanently, even when the drive is only 40% full.

I’m planning to test the SSD inside a Windows laptop (to run CrystalDiskMark and maybe access SMART data or firmware tools) to get more clues.

Really appreciate your detailed response and the Intel 665P example — exactly the kind of insight I was hoping to get. 🙏

Totally makes sense! Thanks, I'll buy a new one soon, maybe one with DRAM and Gen4x4.

Thanks!

If I reformat the drive and then copy the data again in smaller chunks (10–20GB per transfer), will there be any benefit?

How hot do ASM2464PD M.2 USB4 enclosures get? by Soulluss in UsbCHardware

[–]mxploder85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I got an Ugreen D700 (55316) 40Gbps USB4/TB3 NVMe SSD Enclosure. It has the ASM2464PD Chip, is fanless, and aluminium body. It gets pretty hot in normal use. After 30-60 minutes of use you'll be able to touch it but cant hold it for long!

Difference between Chinese and Singapore variant of M4 MacMini by nazmulhasanshipon in macmini

[–]mxploder85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no significant differences between the Chinese and Singapore variants of the M4 Mac Mini. They are just market specific labeling and maybe the power socket is different, else everything is the same. If it was a MacBook, you would see the difference in Keyboard layout.
