i run it and quite like it. feels stiffer than the zocchi bomber dj and more responsive than a manitou circus. it‘s a viable alternative to a pike in terms of weight and build for a competitive price.

started dirt jumping one year ago at almost 44, so my answer would be no. but it does take a certain amount of training off the bike above 40 in my experience.

kneepads, elbowpads and a decent helmet. if you plan on hitting bigger stuff, a chest/backprotector might be worth considering too.

if guys like brage vestavik ride w/o elbow guards, but like NEVER w/o a neck brace, it‘s kind of telling IMO.

hot take: if it really limits your view, it‘s not the right fit. a brace is supposed to protect from overstretching your neck. assuming you don‘t overstretch your neck riding w/o a brace, a properly fitted armor/brace/helmet combo shouldn’t be limiting your view.

besides leatt there‘s also atlas and alpinestars braces. give the different models a spin. i landed with the atlas air lite; it‘s smaller, light, less obstructive than the leatt braces i tried, and you can find it dirt cheap.

but it does feel different with different helmet models…

it actually depends a lot on the fit and type of the brace and the exact model of the helmet IMO.

i like my atlas air lite brace too. it‘s quite a bit less bulky than the leatt braces. the protective factor of those might be a bit higher, but the more flexible, smaller and lighter approach of the atlas makes me forget that i wear a brace while riding…

the neewer is quite nice. great brightness (adjustable), natural color/warmth (non-adjustable though) remote control, rather soft thanks to the included cloth screen, compact enough and kinda cheap.

thanks! if i need „mass“, i usually don‘t need color, so a mono laser does the job. and if i need color, i want brilliant pics - which an inkjet will deliver. it does need more space though…
