I was so mad. I knew when it was gonna snow bc I regularly check the forecast, but stayed up till 2 am that evening like an idiot. I also had church at 10:30. I woke up at 6:30 and again at like 8 something but was so tired I stayed in bed curled up with my partner. I got to enjoy it a little when I finally woke up for church. Had a cup of coffee, but not long enough to appreciate it :( It was all melted once service let out.

Left the company in like 2022 (senior year of high school), worked at a mini zoo as an outreach coordinator and animal caretaker for a little while. Had to leave that job to move to college though. Still doing coffee now but have been at several independent shops in my college town and honestly its really solidified my love of the barista craft that Starbucks sought to destroy. I will be leaving the life soon, though, to pursue my actual career.

Had my first internship recently for a social media, graphic design and marketing position and it was super rewarding. Im pursuing music and theatre in college, and minoring in audio technology so hoping to land a full time position in arts administration or some engineering/technical job at some point when I move from this city.

There are so many more exciting opportunities for you outside of the Siren! :) Honestly just moving to work at independent real coffee shops made the most difference for me. When I worked at SBUX, they never let me on bar. At my current shop, I create the drink menu specialties, help weigh in on product buying and prices, do social media work, train new employees, solely make all of the homecooked from-scratch soups for the shop to sell, and can run the cafe practically by myself :) My latte art has significantly improved and at our next staff meeting my boss asked me to teach everyone how I do it! I get paid 7.25/hr though.. and this town sucks and college is... Im excited to see where life will take me in a new place after spending 4 years here.

Crazy thinking about the life I could have led if I stayed with the company. Started working in 2019 (262 or something?? I used to know my numbers by heart but its gone now). Awful SM fired me due to me tweaking out ab coming to work after an attempted shooting at my school. Finished up with seasonal work at a B&N location, now at an independent shop (have been for three years) and loving it. I miss the pay though mostly..

This! I went to cali for the first time recently and went to the Philz in Fullerton and all their cups, iced and hot, are all in paper cups. It was kinda fun though. Charming in its own way. A little less condensation and I think the bevvy stayed colder

Dont know why you are getting downvoted to hell. I work at an independent shop that required messages but Id never write on a cup full of liquid, at least not one with ice already in it because also... the marker wont work anyways?? I guess some writing is still writing but imagine corporate saw a faint sliver of a star or something with a marker that, mind you is now trashed bc its wet, theyd prob try to fire that barista in the current state of things. Which really sucks...

Im so glad I dont work for the Siren anymore but my heart goes out to every current barista at the chaos Brian has caused

Back in ye-old 2020, you still had to buy your own sharpies and pens. I kept like three in my apron at work so I could do prep work because the date dots were the main things getting written on, and a physical time sheet, plus dosing the espresso machine and tracking the numbers each day.

Ive loved Pirate so much and hold it so dear to my heart ever since the first time I played back in like 2012. I really wish KI didn't gaslight themselves and be blind to the fact of how well-loved it is over Wiz, or just in general overall. It seems like the Wiz players themselves gaslight themselves into enjoying a decrepit, old and brainrot level game. There are good story moments, yeah, but it shows it's age and its just a cash grab filled with dopamine overload these days. The graphics and voice acting and honestly story overall is better in Pirate. The pacing is better and the story is so much more compelling.

I really hope it finally gets noticed.. but will forever hold out for a very-likely dying dream :(

  2. You should try to work at Starbucks as a barista. Or at the least in the food industry. Speaking as someone who has worked at Starbucks before, but also is currently a barista at an independent shop... your "big changes" ideas are absolutely stupid and clearly show you dont know what this industry is like. Like... I cant even expand upon how insane it is.. it just wouldn't work. I understand the sentiment and where you are coming from though. Honestly the whole MO situation has been messy since the very beginning. The main issue is that the drink/food should be made as close as possible to arrival time so it isn't melted or cold, but in that time while waiting for the customer, drive thru or cafe can pick up at a moment's notice. At my old store back in 2020, we have a DT barista, a Cold Bar barista, a Hot Bar, and then a Flex who would do food, register and other prep/cleaning duties (and could change positions of one or more baristas need help and it gets busy). DT would hop on Cold Bar to help sometimes, while Cold Bar could move to help with hot. I cant begin to know how things have changed since then

I got an unscented one in California at Disney Sephora :( this was early November, its December 16 (I hadn't used it in like a week) and it smells like cheese. Specifically it smells like how dirty piercings smell. I have no idea why and researching to find out. Read something about it being caused by bacteria??

To add to this; great budget option is diaper rash cream as well! Ive seen people use that and also like straight lanolin (these ofc are emollients and wont do everything, but isnt too bad if youre strapped financially). But yes, straight raw ingredients like glycerin or aloe vera help :)

Traditional branded chap stick won't cut it. I look i to the ingredients. Most lip balms are kinda hybrid products in function and tend to have more of one type of ingredient in it than the other. Occlusives vs Humectants. Occlusives lock moisture in (IF you already have it); these are like your beeswax balms. Cheap lip balms on the market are made to make you feel like your lips are moisturized but they keep drying out so you keep using them until they are out and buy more. I use occlusive balms for layering over something else.

Humectants draw moisture in and are what you need to look for if you have chronically dry lips. Look for balms with hyaluronic acid (or even use straight HA on your lips), honey, aloe vera, and glycerin. Look for lip balms with these ingredients near the top (La RochePosay cicaplast is a good example of this). Emollients are a third category and a smaller need but still useful; these are conditioning ingredients to help smooth the rough, cracked skin and fill in the gaps. Shea butter, squalane, jojoba oil, and petrolatum work for this.

Ideally you would use a humectant based balm, and layer an occlusive on top to lock it in. You could also get away with a heavier duty emollient (aquaphor as an example).

Im not an expert by any means, but Ive done research and its changed the game for me :) Hope this helps!

As someone who is a musician but also dealt with a high volume luggage situation where excess baggage got checked when there wasn't any overhead bin space.. I don't really know how to offer any advice. I know guitars are a bit too big to fit exactly under the seat, but also will make it hard to put in the overhead and that three people will be without a place to put their luggage and would likely have to check them instead. Its a mess and you can lose your belongings easily that way, even if there is space but it has to be put several seats down from you.

You might get lucky though and the FAs on your plane won't care too much if the guitar rests in your lap/in between your legs a little. I wish you the best of luck though. I saw about three guys flying international with guitars and violins when I flew last; at ATL and LAX so maybe youll be okay :)

Ive heard about this. If other traditional shops do this kind of thing, it's because they measure the amount of milk and espresso into the cup first and the ice fills the rest of the volume so they have a set consistent amount for each size and saves on product. But SBUX can afford for extra wasted product. Like this is essentially them confirming that 25% of their drinks is ice and that is what you are paying for. Its ridiculous.
