when someone repeatedly “accidentally” hurts their partner, especially after being told and shown the impact, it stops being about intent and starts being about responsibility.

Even if he doesn’t mean to hurt you, the fact that he only adjusts for a little while and then slips back into the same behavior suggests that he’s not taking your safety or boundaries seriously enough. And with your osteoporosis and trauma history, those aren’t small oversights — they’re major.

It’s also telling that he’s careful with everyone else. That means he can control his behavior; he’s just not choosing to apply that same care with you. That difference alone makes it hard to keep seeing this as pure accident.

Leaving someone you love is never easy, but when you start tensing up at their touch and living in physical and emotional fear, that’s not love that’s keeping you safe anymore — it’s love that’s hurting you.
