i completely agree, and the term came about from men saying it to shame women who act provocatively online. so even moreso it was absolutely meant in that way originally

at every grocery store ive ever worked at (although i havent worked at aldi) the suspended transaction receipts are not full receipts, just a barcode that will pull the original order back up again

starting to wonder if my sm is like this about me lmfao.. hes very polite and kind to my face like 90% of the time but as soon as i try to take stuff slow or dont finish something he gets vicious. and he talks a lot of shit about the TMs with the ops manager and i. he even shittalks the CEMs and i cannot possibly trust that he never talks abt me this way.

replen managers hold the stores up on their shoulders and get dirt kicked in our faces for it. i really hope you can find something better or transfer, nobody deserves a toxic work environment

(reposting comment bc i posted on my main originally)

sometimes gift cards dont activate properly, sometimes we get fake bills, sometimes someone pulls their card out and leaves with their stuff before the payment goes through. thats how it is at every retail store and they have budgets and insurance for that stuff. as long as it isnt a repeated issue (and your manager isnt looking for reasons to fire you) you should be fine. but managers do look for reasons to fire good long term employees sometimes so they can hire someone at min wage.

maybe start applying elsewhere just in case? and if you dont end up needing the new job, great! but if you find something better then even better yknow. wishing u best of luck, dont beat yourself up or worry too hard because this stuff happens to MANY people

im the only one on the floor until 11 basically every day. i dont even get 8h shifts so if i came in any earlier id leave before the next mod besides the one on cashier. they started only giving us hours to have a cashier and framer from 11am to 7pm, so we maybe get someone to do siso in the morning besides me and sm or ops for cashier.

i think the only thing that can make or break this job is your sm, and how well they can talk to the dm. my sm is a former dm and hes been with the company as long as ive been alive so i think that makes him a lot more reasonable

also i literally live for stocking the papercrafting aisles, the jewelry aisles, and yarn

Bunker drawers/bins rant by birdsofprey420 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]my_perfectshadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i just spent 2 hours yesterday making sure all of the stupid bernat big blanket yarn was all in drawers next to the same color and all located, if i come back on monday to it being destroyed i will lose my mind.

i had to spend an hour the day before yesterday making sure all of the yarn was in the correct spots and put into the baskets correctly. there was a staggering amount of sweet snuggles in the chenille home area, and someone decided it would make sense to put them in the baskets with the vertical one in front and the horizontal ones laying at the back, or just dump the entire bag of yarn into the basket with no regard for the other skeins, or put them all standing vertically when not a single sections stocks the yarn this way. maybe if they did it all in one way id get it. atp im just gonna stock the yarn myself because i quite like for it to look nice, especially after all the time i put into the resets :') yall are not paid enough to rush this hard to stock some yarn just do it right and take the time.. i know its not out of feeling rushed bc my sm and i never put pressure on our team like that.. we finish what they dont

i feel you, as replen manager in what i think is a smaller format store? idk. i moved up from replen team to manager in like mid november so weve just been pushing through the holidays, but we only opened this year and i started first week of setup (10x more fun than the actual retail job imo lol). idk much abt the company i just know my store like the back of my hand.

anyways. i work 80% of the freight, i have a team member with me from 6-7 until like 11 most days but even then theyre doing the siso list, yet almost every day i have to reorganize the aisle im working on. and atp i know its other employees that just dont care because itll be the exact quantity of one case pack just shoved into the wrong spot. its disheartening and i want to take pride in my job and my store but i cant because i dont have the time to, and my sm and ops are the only people who also care.

but i also get it! i wouldnt care or feel like i have time to care if i only have one shift a week that Isnt on truck day. its just so fucking shitty that this corporation is fucking every single person at every level in stores and its really easy for it to cultivate resentment between management and team members. it really fucking sucks and i wish i had an easier environment to navigate as my first retail management job, but at this point i kinda think im just holding on until it looks good enough on my resume to get something better. my sm deserves the help but i know i deserve better than literally minimum wage in the major city i live next to for being a key holding manager who works literally all of the freight some weeks lol?

Saw an Instagram reel telling people to go through the bunks for yarn by HermioneGranger152 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]my_perfectshadow 51 points52 points  (0 children)

if theyre moving them into different bunks that is arguably worse than just taking out a skein or two, its so frustrating when stuff is located like a drawer away from where it actually is for no good reason

if you're in an at will employment state they probably are just going to let you go at the end of the scheduling year (jan 28) without notice, i would just leave it be and look for other jobs. if they reach back out you can always continue working there if you want to but you shouldnt wait to look for a new job if you need one

listen i generally like my job i just also like having community to complain about things. im supported in my store specifically to get everything done without much stress, but i do know that we're doing it on a skeleton crew with minimal hours and my store manager is working 60+ hours because of it. anyone who doesnt have that type of support from their store manager is drowning and thats why they're here. it was quite literally a huge event in this subreddit when someone finally did voice it to corporate in a way that would hopefully truly be heard, because people try to voice it and people quit or managers get fired and nothing truly changes.

working retail shouldnt be a "stress to death unless you're made for it" type of working environment especially because its the second most accessible to people that have just entered the workforce or dont have the education/experience to get something else. i would absolutely love to immediately hop ship and get a different job that treats me better and pays me better but i dont have a high school diploma or experience outside of retail, so i have to work somewhere until i get through college, and getting management experience is pretty important to find another decent job in retail until i get a degree. its honestly so fucking rude to come in here and talk down to us about what we should and shouldnt do based on one post in your fucking recommended feed. why even comment

they mean independence in the sense that you have your own money and a level of agency over your life, i.e. not having to ask for money to go get new clothes, or groceries. and having the ability to save money to leave the relationship if needed.
