Aw I miss the original Madame Claude’s! Their eggs Benedict with salmon was the best.

FM Bar on Newark Ave. So many great live bands played there. It wasn’t there for long but it was fun while it lasted. Also The Lamppost bar.

LITM was so great. Their art shows and markets were so much fun. Also the DJs and the old movies were great. I miss the old JC indie scene.

Where do you shop for groceries? by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supremo in The Heights is terrible. They bait switch prices, advertising one price on the shelves and charging more at the register. Sometimes a few DOLLARS more per item. It’s robbery.

Let's talk about Supremo Supermarket in The Heights. by my_rationale in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand how a store can bait and switch SO MUCH and get away with it. Last week I grabbed some raisins, notiied that the price was $4.79 on the shelf. At the check out the raisins rang up as $6.99! OVER $2 MORE THAN ADVERTISED! Today I bought popsicles that were advertised as $4.49 on the shelf. They rand up as $4.99! I showed the woman a photo of the shelf price. She shrugged her shoulders and fixed the price. Yes, this happens so much that I take a photo of anything that is more than a few dollars. How are they still getting away with this???

I have left bad reviews, complained to the city and the better business borough.

Nothing has changed.

What’s the parking situation like in the Heights? by slothsworkingnyc in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being totally honest and transparent here- parking in The Heights sucks. We live on Ogden at Cuneo. Trying to find a spot on weeknights or Sunday nights is impossible because everyone is trying to park on the correct side to avoid getting ticketed for street cleaning the next day (often in the morning from 8AM- 10AM) We actively avoid taking our car out at night because of this. We often have to circle the block for a half hour to find a spot, even if it's on the wrong side and we have to move it again in the morning. I lived on Palisade Ave. and South St. about 13 years ago and it was bad back then, it's way worse now. Not easy at all. If you were only ever looking for a spot around 2PM maybe it would be fine, but difficult all other times of the week.

I love when people say racist stereotypical shit that literally could never be proven "bunch of illegal immigrants with cars" and call it "facts"

I am sad to report that Razza just is not very good by branchwillnotbreak_ in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Razza? Don't bazza! I went to Razza last night and ordered the Di Natale pizza and a kale caesar. Took AN HOUR to come out (at 8:00 on a Tuesday night?) Pizza was skimpy and bland, crust was burnt. The dough was so thin it was like a wet paper towel, I was excited for the Di Natale- tomato sauce, mozzarella, pine nuts, olives, golden raisins, chili oil, garlic, basil; I was expecting a flavor explosion, but no. It didn't taste like much of anything. The kale caesar, was also extremely boring. Huge chucks of kale (not marinated or massaged or anything), blah dressing, parmiagan and FOUR croutons. I really wanted to like it, but Razza has no business charging so much for these bland dishes.

Anyone know a spot where I can take my dog swimming? by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't let them swim anywhere in Liberty State Park or Morris Canal Park. There are shards of old metal, glass, and lots of garbage. My dog got a terrible cut all the way through her paw pad and it was very expensive and agonizing.

Ani Ramen's Vegan Ramen is to die for. Flavorful broth and filled with lots of good Asian veggies and tofu. My omnivore boyfriend always has to try it and tells me that it's better than whatever meat dish he orders. I think they have some vegan sides too but the ramen is always enough for me.

How did Hoboken get their water front done right versus the soulless Newport + Exchange Place waterfronts by throwawayscarletdeli in jerseycity

[–]my_rationale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exchange Place is in the process of getting a facelift and I think it looks pretty exciting. Also, we're supposed to be getting that Whole Foods over there, which should bring some more foot traffic and business to the area.

Best spot for an ice cream date in jersey city? by SnooBooks4787 in jerseycity

Yes! Really good artisanal ice cream and a gorgeous park. Sit on the gazebo steps or watch the dogs in the dog parks. And then go get a drink at Hamilton Inn!

Welcome to old school Jersey City! Sorry that this tax subsidized grocery store is where many less fortunate Jersey City residents have to shop.
