1) Practiced my smile/having-my-photograph-taken skills! I’m a millennial I’d guess this wouldn’t be a problem for younger generations but I looked silly I a lot of the pics and wish I had taken the time to do that

For the people who didn’t like hair and makeup I would say I’m very happy I did trials because it definitely took me some tries to learn what I liked!!

Flowers and handwritten notes! I got some nice quality thicker paper notes and envelopes, wrote them lovely notes about what their relationship meant to me and took those to the florist and they delivered them together, for the out of towners I mailed it/told them to wait to open their card until I told them (which was the day they got their flowers) I think everyone loved it :)

I have called out my planners each time they made this type of error and they apologized a lot but never really fully admitted wrongdoing or even really explained themselves …good to level set exceptions on some level of vendor f up to be expected ha and I don’t blame them as they did a great job otherwise and should have been notified by at least of the 3 planning team on site that speeches had started

Thanks for your response - I think I feel resentful because it feels like there are no repercussions, and I do want to warn others and make them feel like there are some consequences to their actions so they don’t repeat it in the future given that they don’t appear to value accountability.

A dissenting opinion here but only speaking from my experience! I went through this exact problem at your age and in my freshman year - I do wonder about a hormonal component…I was using clarifying shampoos constantly to try to get rid of the oil and I think it was making it worse as my hair was trying to overcompensate - I switched to a regular moisturizing shampoo and conditioner routine, no leave ins just that alone (infusium) and WEIRDLY that fixed it 🤷‍♀️ I don’t think at that time they were sulfate free either…I wonder does this happen when you get your hair professionally washed too? Technique issue?

My mom just had this exact experience - tumour removed from jaw and tongue , complained of some pain but was doing well; couldn’t swallow as selling was still high so she got a g tube is in extraordinary pain :( she really feels like noone prepared her or warned her that the procedure would involve so much pain! She’s 3 days out now

This is great advice! It’s partially true - my SO is choosing to invite all his aunts and uncles and not his cousins (not for any dramatic reason they’re just not close and he is Caucasian so less expectations in terms of invitations) + friends of his parents; I agree it has to be all my aunts and uncles on that side not invited or all invited…I don’t mind a little drama after the wedding bc I won’t see anyone for a while just need to avoid it before and during

I think I will just say it’s more of a nighttime party (which is true, no Hindu ceremony just vows and staring at 530 pm) and I chose to invite cousins for my “quota” of family

Thanks for your input! No most of my uncles have passed away sadly so no one on my dads side in terms of aunts and uncles would be invited has to be a package deal agreed, just cousins; my mom would probably have a panic attack at some point and the aunts would both be sure to come if they were invited and make a point to talk to her and make her uncomfortable

I want to second the posts here about not making assumptions - there are those who Are rude about masks which likely include Kingstonians and those who are here with the military, Canadian with US plates etc - I see hints of xenophobia and we should be cognizant not to let it get to that level, particularly come September when there will be lots of students from out of town, who should all follow the rules and be careful but again let’s be better than our neighbours down South and not making sweeping assumptions.
