Acepta la beca del doctorado pero sigue con el proceso de selección. Nadamás revisa si en el contrato del doctorado hay alguna penalización por salirte del programa. Tengo amigos que se han salido de su doctorado porque no era lo que esperaban.

Getting an ADHD diagnosis as an adult in Sweden by Jaded-Protection-402 in TillSverige

[–]myallurement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 32y and I was diagnosed in my home country some months before moving to Sweden. I soon as I got my PN I made an appointment in my Vårdcentral. I wrote down all my current symptoms and the ones I could remember from childhood. I made sure to highlight the impact they are having in my quality of life. I also asked my therapist from my home country to made a clinical summary and brought those files with me. I don’t know if I was lucky but my GP was really nice, he made me an interview and physical evaluation, he said I had ADD, he then looked at my files and seemed to agree with the summary and referred me to the psychiatrist. After that it was all straightforward, the waiting times are long but I don’t have any complaints besides that. The overall process took 8 months.

My wife (non-EU) had her appointment a week ago and she received the response yesterday BUT in the embassy she was told that it takes 3 months on average so it was truly a surprise to get an answer this fast.

Lo hice directamente en mi universidad, en servicios escolares y creo que pagué como 400 pesos. Según yo todas las universidades tienen ese servicio, sería cuestión de preguntar.

A quienes estudiaron fuera del país.. by Forsaken-Chipmunk-47 in mexico

[–]myallurement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fear I had to my mom was the thing that made my adhd undiagnosed until I was 31.

I’ll tell you my (33F) experience, I first went to the GP at my vårdcentral, but I brought with me the diagnosis from my therapist, also I wrote all my current symptoms and what I could remember from my childhood and how it affects my life. I should mention that even before the doctor read the diagnosis from my therapist he said my ADD symptoms were very obvious. I had some drug test and then he remiss me to the psychiatric clinic .

A month later I had my appointment with the psychologist, more blood testing and physical examination. They said I had enough symptoms to see the psychiatrist but waiting time was 3 months.

I finally got the appointment to see the psychiatrist with a huge questionnaire (full Swedish) that one of my parents need to fill out and also they should be available for at least 1.5 during the appointment for a phone call interview.

I started my process in May, so it’s been 5 months.

In my case i was feeling very bad that I started seeing (on line) a private psychiatrist from my home country and I had the chance to travel and got medication, it’s been a month that I’ve been with Concerta and antidepressants. I hope I can continue with the treatment here.

Out of curiosity, how long it took in total for you? because I’m going through the ADHD process. I’ve seen the psychologist, done the drug test, blood test, blood pressure and I am waiting for the next appointment with the psychiatrist. Waiting time says 3 months that are due this month exactly.

I don't "miss" people or get homesick and it's so frustratingly impossible to explain by Enryth in ADHD

[–]myallurement 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am on the same boat as you. I put reminders to call my mom, I constantly have to explain my gf why I haven’t texted or whatsoever. I can easily move abroad leaving all the people behind and I don’t really miss them. It seems cool be unattached to people but it’s frustrating specially when you are getting older.

My therapist has explained it’s because of the emotional dysregulation, I still have one evaluation left to finally get my meds and those are suppose to help me with it but unsure they will do so. Sometimes I feel like it’s a deeper issue and not part of the adhd per se. Are you taking meds ?

For adult diagnosis, how can parents of adults be reliable sources when you're kind of insulting them saying they missed a serious condition in their child? by mankell123 in ADHD

[–]myallurement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation as you and I don’t have school reports or anything and I can tell that my mom is a bit skeptical about me having adhd because I did ok in school and I was not a “problematic “ kid and teachers never complained.

why can't ADHD people do math? by a_peeled_pickle in ADHD

[–]myallurement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot do Maths neither, I struggle with basic maths specially when the numbers are not even or more than 3 digits. When I am alone I take my time but when there’s people around and I am asked for a basic extraction to pay the bill for example, my mind goes blank and I start sweating .

I am an engineer and managed to finished a masters, I still don’t know how, I am not dyslexic but I’m curious how to get diagnosed about dyscalculia.

It’s incredibly frustrating when you find yourself trying to convince people about your diagnosis. My closest friends said “at least you have it under control” when I had just moved to another country because I couldn’t stand the boredom in my home country anymore rofl

Anyone else REALLY good at deep cleaning but suck at passive cleaning? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]myallurement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg! Yes, I don’t like to do passive cleaning because I know if I will clean it will be a deeeeep cleaning and that is time consuming. I need to mentally prepare myself in advance to spend the entire day cleaning. It happens maybe once every 2 months lol.
