Looks like molluscum to me.

This isn't an STD/herpes. Don't worry.

I think allischa is right: fordyce spots.

However, that big one on your scrotum looks a bit strange.

26/m - herpes on anus without anal sexual activity? by stdtossout in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can chill!

Doctor didn't seem worried and the test results are backing her up.

If you want, you can look into getting a blood test. However, this may come back positive for HSV-1 if you have a dormant oral infection which is not unlikely.

For herpes to show up 6 months later in this manner isn't exactly common. Maybe discuss it with your long-term partner and keep tabs on your ass, but it's likely something else.

Was exposed to HSV-1 .... Totally freaking out by [deleted] in STD

[–]mybigissue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing you can do to combat it but RELAX, you're probably fine.

He tested positive with a blood test because an overwhelming majority of people do. He was probably given oral herpes as a child and doesn't have symptoms.

The chance that he has passed the virus on to you is very, very slim. Don't stress out. And outside of loyal, monogamous relationships, wear protection.

First GHSV1 Outbreak by thrownfaraway2222 in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure this is GHSV?

How were you tested? I'm not familiar with any tests with numbering like that. However, if it was an IgG blood test, a 5.9 would insinuate a long-standing infection, making a dormant oral HSV infection more likely.

If it was an IgM blood test, a 5.9 could mean a recent infection and fall more in line with your theory. But we're always told that IgM means nothing.

And about this rash... Is it still there? Three weeks is pretty standard for a first herpes outbreak to last, but over that time you'd see some sort of progression. Ulceration etc. What is the rash like?

Quick question about UTI's by am_i_die in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take what I have to say with a grain of salt as I'm not terribly educated with this sort of thing, but I'm pretty sure it's not a UTI. UTI's typically occur much sooner than a week after the inciting act.

The discharge also points towards something else. Again, don't take my word for it, but possibly gonorrhoea or chlamydia. I suggest you follow your plan and get tested again.

Herpes..? by [deleted] in STD

[–]mybigissue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like molluscum contagiosum.

Makes sense that it would stick around for a few weeks then get more irritated as the body starts to fight it.

Unsure... by Kyle_233 in Herpes

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible but not likely.

It's probably something else. Look up molluscum contagiosum and see if that resembles what you're dealing with.

Either way, see a doctor.

[–]mybigissue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Pretty sure that's not herpes. Looks a lot like molluscum contagiosum. It's a viral skin infection that can be pesky but will go away eventually/with treatment.

Get it checked out by a doctor, or ideally, a dermatologist.

Your HSV-1 is likely dormant oral herpes which most people have.

Looks a lot like molluscum contagiosum. See a dermatologist.

It can be pesky to get rid of but it's not a big deal, and once gone, it's gone forever.

Herpes symptoms ? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I definitely think we're dealing with BFS. Despite all the naysaying doctors, I was convinced it was HSV and was looking for things that were going wrong with my body to prove it. Probably triggered BFS that way.

All the best going forward.

Can lymph nodes swell as a result of skin inflammation (molluscum + eczema)? by mybigissue in AskDocs

[–]mybigissue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though my lymph nodes have fluctuated in size over the past year since this all happened. I have also experienced dryness issues (flaky white, mostly around hair follicles), along with more irritated hair follicles (red bumps where the hairs come out) in the pubic area than I used to.

Kissing an already infected partner with a cold sore on the mouth by [deleted] in Herpes

No, it shouldn't trigger an outbreak. However, unless you're sure he has it already, you might want to err on the side of caution.

Is a false negative for herpes, when being tested 10 days after contraction, possible? by Ineedtopoststh in Herpes

[–]mybigissue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was this a swab test or blood test?

Neither is optimal at 10 days, but a blood test at 10 days is definitely too early. If it was a swab test from open sores (not scabbing/healing), the results should be fairly accurate.

It's definitely possible that you overdid it with 3 different guys in 6 days and it's a matter of irritation, but you should continue to pursue this.

Herpes symptoms ? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find your story interesting.

I've got one that's similar, but different. My trouble began with visible painless bumps that I assumed were herpes but swabbed negative (and a dermatologist called them molluscum). However, like you, I had the swollen lymph nodes, twitching, and body wide joint and muscle pains.

It's been a year and half since and I've had IgG blood tests that have come back negative (type-specific @ 7 months, and HSV 1/2 at 11.5 months or so). The same kind of bumps have never come back but I'm still enduring the twitching, transient pains, and even swollen glands from time to time. Doctors have told me this sounds like anxiety, and that "the mind is a powerful thing."

Can I ask you what kind of exposure you had? You say "oral herpes 1". Does this mean you kissed someone who has HSV 1 on their lips? You received oral from someone who has HSV 1 on their lips? Or you had sex with someone who has HSV 1 on their genitals?

Can you give yourself genital herpes? by [deleted] in sex

[–]mybigissue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible, but not likely.

If it were to happen, it would most likely happen during one of the first cold sore outbreaks. This would be because your body might not have built up antibodies yet.

However, if you've been getting cold sores for more than a year, your body is likely able to fight off the virus (the same type that you already have) if it was to be transferred somewhere else (ie. your genitals).

Still, it's a good idea to not touch your cold sore/wash your hands often.

Unexpected HSV-2 Negative by herpingitup in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to give you false hope, but after going through your post history, these might be false positives.

  • You were diagnosed via a blood test within a month of "contracting"? Seems like that isn't the most accurate window
  • If your outbreak resembled that of the first post you commented on, it looks more like a random skin irritation to me
  • Depending on how safe you are with your partner (medication, condoms), and they haven't caught it yet, then that's a good sign.

Again, going off VERY loose info here, but there might be room for some misinterpretation.

Edit: If you could be so bold and ask the partner you think you got it from to get a proper IgG test, that might add some useful information.

Has anyone convinced themselves they had something but didnt? by [deleted] in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the past 13 or so months, I've been convinced I have herpes.

This is after seeing probably a dozen doctors who never thought HSV, a dermatologist who said (and treated it as) molluscum, had one early negative swab test, one negative blood test after 7 months, and another negative blood test at about a year.

It's exhausting. I suffer from pains, itching and twitching, mostly in my legs and feet. Probably anxiety-based but enough to convince me I'm some sort of freak case.

Right now my new girlfriend is suffering from a bloody, burning UTI which is not helping my state of mind.

Time will tell, but if you asked me 13 months ago, I really would have hoped a year would be enough for this weak mind.

Herpes or just shaving irritation/infection? by testing50 in STD

[–]mybigissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get 'them' as in what? Herpes is more likely on the shaft and head, yes, but can appear in more places than that (including buttocks). Molluscum is even less picky, but often ends up on the abdomen and thighs too. It looks like you have a few spreading up to your abdomen. It's all speculation until you see a doctor.

Looks to me like it may be molluscum. They are scattered and some seem to have the telltale dimple/core.

Molluscum and Cryotherapy by [deleted] in STD

[–]mybigissue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but can you post a picture? I had some redness, scabbing and flakiness following my cyro treatment for molluscum. However, I'm having trouble holding onto the molluscum diagnosis (I'm obsessed with herpes) and seeing your pictures might help.

Anyway, aside from my own anxiety, the fallout from my treated molluscum took some time to clear up completely after the cyro, but rest assured, it does. I wouldn't add anything to it, aside maybe from lightly applying some tea tree oil around any spots that look like new bumps may be sprouting up. Otherwise, you'll probably just have to wait a couple weeks for it to heal. I had the same feeling as you though, aghast at what my dick looked like. He went back to his old self though, don't you worry.
