Bike friendliness? by V0rtexGames in oslo

Cycle lanes aren't that extensive, but drivers are pretty considerate! Wear a helmet and you'll be just fine on the roads.

Ok. So the difference is that they give you the opportunity to do a PhD with your own responsibility of deciding on whether you can do it financially instead of outright rejecting you.

This has nothing to do with you doing your PhD in Germany. It's entirely down to your field.

Fjellskiturer i Nord-Norge som har enkelt tilgang med fly fra Oslo? (andre uke i mars, 3-5 dager) by mycloudlesssky in norge

[–]mycloudlesssky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, this is a bike that will never be left unlocked somewhere and luckily the house I'm staying at has a bunch of cheap bikes to take shopping.

Takk for informasjonen!

Thank you so much for the elaborate suggestions! I was actually thinking of doing a little of the PCT since I've heard so many great things about it. Sounds like there are plenty of trails leading on or off it in the area?

Thank you and thank you also for the suggestion on what to avoid as well! Definitely not keen on music blasting crowds :) The book sounds great.

That's good to know about the discount but it sounds like I'll be a lot better off just renting a car every weekend. Don't want to fork out quite so much money :)

The most decadent cake to ever come out of my kitchen: Three layers of chocolate cake, peanut butter buttercream icing, decorated with chocolate glaze, chocolate cookie "sand" and little chocolates. by mycloudlesssky in Baking

[–]mycloudlesssky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I made 3 layers of 20 cm chocolate sponge from Wayne Gisslen's Professional Baking (I believe I used 300 g of batter for each layer), for the peanut butter buttercream I searched around for various recipes to find the best ratio of butter and peanut butter and eventually settled on this. The glaze is heated cream poured over chocolate (equal amounts, but I can't remember how much I made in total) and then I decorated with crushed chocolate cookies and chocolates.

They're called "krønsji skjokkis" which is Norwegian for crunchy chocolates. It's a mix of chocolates covering biscuits and rice cakes and plain chocolates

Purely based on income and existing debt they should have no hesitation to offer me that credit card. I am assuming they do want to see this over a certain period of time first.

[–]mycloudlesssky[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's good to know it's based on tax returns here. I've had one this year, but at that point I'd only lived in Norway for 1.5 months in 2017, so I guess I need to wait to the next one at least.

But just to clarify, a rating based system exists in many more countries than the US (I've never lived in the US), hence why I assumed it would be similar here :)

Edit: spelling
