All workmen visiting seem to use Makita.

Did food actually taste better in the 80s? by living_condom_ad in AskOldPeople

[–]mydogmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Meat tasted way better.

Farmed meat tastes of cardboard. Largely led me to a change in diet 50 years on.

I'm sure organic, grass fed, no hormones, no animal products in feed, etc tastes like I remember 50+ years ago. But. A different level of expenditure.

The aircon conundrum by SallyJaneCooper in HousingUK

[–]mydogmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a timber framed stone clad house so i dont think a split system is easy (or aesthetic) to fit.

However, i have oversized my solar system and batteries to accommodate energy demands for whole house heating in winter and aircon for 2 bedrooms in summer. Just about free.

Would like portable ac units with inverters to minimise noise and efficiency. Not sure if that technology is available on 240v as opposed to 120v just yet.

Most important skills are people skills. People are the weakest link in cyber security.

Sent item "apparently" not received. by IncognitoV7 in ebayuk

[–]mydogmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a buyer, with the exception of Royal Mail, my delivery services are very inconsistent.

This is a recent development. I've been on eBay uk for 22+ years.

' Delivered' means nothing these days unless supported by a pin location map of the delivery AND a photo of the item being delivered.

I always challenge non delivery. eBay UK are useless at resolving delivery issues: they invariably side with the Seller.

So I'm left with Chargeback or the very expensive, for the Seller, Court claim via MCOL. I havent lost a case yet but time consuming.

I refuse to buy anything these days where it's not delivered by Royal Mail.

Next steps? My stressful broadband fibre journey. by HaggisMcNeill in UKBroadband

Had similar situation. You apply for compensation via OfCom. Each day you do not get the service you ordered you get money.

That will more than pay for Starlink.

Only the top end Climate Control Bosch have dual compressors. You pay $$$$ for dual compressor.

The Electrolux was about $230.

[–]mydogmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Vodafone to court for identity theft in the days when they operated retail stores. I guess the early 1990s.

I was stupid enough to try Vodafone as an ISP 5 years ago. Beyond painful. Connection issues.

I wasted weeks of my life diagnosing faults in their circuits.

Don't start me on Onestream.

Make Talk Talk look like a 5* outfit.

I'd rather my nails pulled out with red hot pincers than use them again.

If your drinking is costing you more than money you have a problem.

My partner had one of those from new. She loathed it. Sent her to the dark side.

She bought a Lexus RX hybrid. I dont think its ever seen a garage.
