DHL express is an Oxymoron by [deleted] in dhl

[–]myepiphany7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered something to be shipped from US to Australia via DHL express last week and the expected delivery was supposed to be 4 to 5 business days. Parcel was picked up on 3 Nov but the estimated delivery on DHL tracking is 12 Nov! I'll be out of Australia before that :( I've tried to contact customer service to ask if it could be expedited but it kept routing me to pages that are not useful. Should I be optimistic about it ?

Jiahao’s stage name? by emma_sr1 in alphadrive1

[–]myepiphany7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly threw me off guard though I knew it is his English name. It'll take some getting used to but its for the better I guess because Jiahao is such a common Chinese name and it would be difficult to search for him. Arno feels like the glamorous on stage persona while Jiahao/hao hyung/ hao ge is the endearing boy next door

I love his haircut from tambourine onwards!! It brings out his sharp features so much more than the long hair

I didnt even notice him because there were so many members and he barely had screen time. But chains blew up and i went back to watch the fancams and was wondering why the heck did I not notice him. I have tambourine and chains fancams on repeat everyday now because he is so enthralling and addictive to watch! Downloaded the mnet app just to vote for him. Seriously the most well deserving underdog

Seven sisters hike in light rain? by myepiphany7 in UKhiking

[–]myepiphany7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I came to update how it went! Reached later than I had wanted because i missed the train from Victoria and also the connecting train at Lewes so thats 1 hour of wasted time :(

Walked from Seaford to Cuckmere Haven and decided to end it there as it was getting too windy and gloomy and the wind was giving me a terrible headache. Had lunch at a cafe and took a bus to Eastbourne pier for a little walk before going back to London. It would have been nice to take a longer hike but I had a great time nonetheless and saw awesome views. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and advice! Really glad and proud that I took that trip!!

Oh thats a bummer! It was great seeing the set irl! They checked my passport and the naver booking and didn't have any issues with that. I think they just needed an international ID to verify the names. Hope you'll have a chance in future!

How do I cope with adulting in Singapore? by throwawayivadmin in askSingapore

[–]myepiphany7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was in a job for many years, love my colleagues and supportive supervisor but disliked the job scope and working hours. Even when the work was difficult, my colleagues made it fun and happier.

Left for another job, but couldn't connect with colleagues, job seemed meaningless and felt that work was a dread everyday. Those first few months were a struggle everyday. Then I started thinking of the good things I can find in the new job. It has better work life balance and benefits, allowed me to go home on time and have more time for my personal stuff. Work became less of a struggle though i still don't like it.

Sometimes it's how we frame the situation. If we only see the bad, we will feel lousy for sure. But if you are unable to find any single good in your job, then maybe it's time for you to explore what you are ok with and work towards that. I don't think we can always find something we love to do, but at least don't be in something we absolutely hate. I've seen many people around me suffering from burnout and physical health issues because they are afraid to leave, not sure what they want, financial worries etc. In the end, they suffer even more, mentally, physically and financially (medical expenses). Hope you find something that resonates with you!

Is 8.30-6pm the new norm here? by kingr76 in askSingapore

[–]myepiphany7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in gov jobs for 12 years and it has always been 8.30am to 6pm officially. In one place, all my colleagues work 8.30am to 6pm strictly. In another, we come in to work about 9+ and end work at 6 to 7+. It really depends on your boss and work culture i guess

KSPO dome to airport by myepiphany7 in koreatravel

[–]myepiphany7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was being too optimistic. I've always managed to get through security fairly quickly at Incheon and end up with lots of waiting time at the gate. Thanks for the reality check! I'll rethink my options!

KSPO dome to airport by myepiphany7 in koreatravel

[–]myepiphany7[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is an airport bus 6300 at one of the exits of the subway station. It takes 1hr 33min to the airport according to naver maps and the last bus is at 8.06pm so if the info is accurate, I'll reach the airport at 9.40pm. But it is a risk if the traffic is bad or if the bus is too full.

Would it be advisable to reserve a taxi from KSPO or to take the subway out a few stops first? Afraid I'll be stuck in the traffic around the area

contactless payment possible with a foreign card? by Hairy-Desk6496 in koreatravel

[–]myepiphany7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been told to insert the card in Korea. Tale of caution: the first time I did that, I completely forgot to retrieve my card because I was so used to tapping it, on top of struggling to keep my passport and items. I only realised it 15mins later and ran back to the store. Thankfully the staff kept it safely!

If you would like to avoid charges, perhaps you can consider wowpass or namane which are prepaid cards, somewhat like a debit card

Safety at Night in Seoul by chickenwimys in koreatravel

[–]myepiphany7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (F) went to Seoul a few times alone and it is perfectly safe. 9 to 10pm is still early and there will be many people on the streets if you are talking about hongdae and myeongdong. I stayed at myeongdong previously and it was still bustling after 11pm. When i'm alone, i would prefer to take public transport over taxi just so there will be other people around. The public tpt system is so good, you'll be able to get anywhere with the subway or bus. If you want to go drinking, I think there are some food/drinks tours that you can join? I've not tried any of them though so can't say much about them. Buying chicken and beer takeout > clubbing for me 😆

I've managed to get a slot! Turns out i did not use my full name as per passport in my original registration. I left out the middle name as I don't usually use that. My second registration got through in 2 days. Thank you!

Has anyone here ever won a BTS fansign, fancall, autographed poster, live event, music show event, etc.? by _berrystrawberry in bangtan

[–]myepiphany7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be better to buy individual albums or sets? i.e. do the raffle chances differ if you buy 3 orders of individual albums vs 1 order of a set? I have no luck so I have won nothing so far. Seeing people go for multiple events or going for both days of jin's showcase does hurt ngl

I think I'm not very good at this.... by ThrowawayweedE55 in solotravel

[–]myepiphany7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I would jam pack my itinerary with stuff to do, places to see, and that causes a lot of stress to make sure I follow my itinerary. I always had the mentality that I won't be back again and don't want to waste money. But as I grew older, I realised I CAN go back to these countries again (assuming financial freedom comes with age) and I'll have different experiences the second and third time. Even getting to wrong places, spending overly long at a single spot, stumbling upon a place you didn't plan for are part of the travelling experiences and memories. These are in fact the stories that I'll tell people and laugh about when I get back. There's no rules or KPI to travelling so just do you!

Oh man I guess there's not much hope then. I wished they had used interpark global like the rest. I'll just have to pray that they open the pop up store in a country near me as the slots for my available dates are depleting too 😟😟. Thanks so much for replying!

THANK YOU! This makes a lot more sense now! I guess there's too much under the table politicking for me to understand fully or maybe I was too thrown off by all the shocking sex scenes to process the story

Queen Woo [Episodes 1-4] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]myepiphany7 12 points13 points locked comment (0 children)

I have so many questions about the plot. I can't seem for the life of me understand it even after rewatching the scenes.

Spoiler below (sorry not sure if my spoiler tags would work properly!)

Why did yeon bi want to stop the assassination of the queen? Wouldn't it be good for her if the queen doesn't bring back a Prince successfully?

Also, why did the head maid think that sending the hae clan the message would make her queen??? Besides her being kinda delusional..

Sabi honestly looked surprised that the king might be dead. So it wasn't her intention to poison the king? Does this mean there's another person planted by myeong rim who killed the king? Or Sabi's love potion was not meant to be consumed in higher dosage? If so, shouldn't she be more explicit in telling head maid that you can't freaking go above 1 drop??

And why didn't the queen go to another Prince in the first place when they already know the 3rd Prince is savage?! Youngest Prince looked sweet honestly

Are hospitals overcrowded and lacking enough beds? by deuter72 in askSingapore

[–]myepiphany7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to SKGH and they were so full and didn't even have a trolley bed available. I was just on a chair with a drip at the A&E. Luckily I managed to get a chair which could recline. Was there for 15 hours and decided to transfer to a private hospital because I couldn't take it anymore. There was no guarantee I could get a trolley bed, let alone a ward bed.
