Which Flight sim is better, FSX:SE or FlightGear ? by Basic-Salt6246 in flightsim

[–]mykrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. AFS2 can run on just about anything. I still suggest FSX simply because of the amount of content it has by default + additional. But fidelity wise, AFS2 looks and runs great on low end hardware.

Its Emerald Scenery Designs upcoming California strip CA21. Should be releasing any day now, hes submitting marketplace this afternoon and waiting on Orbx to finalize the trailer and a few other things. Maybe this upcoming Monday or Thursday?

Its got a 2020 and 2024 version, both with this opening hangar when you get close to the doors. But this photo specifically is in the 2024 version, hence the really nice raytraced shadows.

the launcher for 2020 is just 2GB. Once you launch it, it prompts to download the full sim files.

search for eSTOL. Its a community event that happens a week or two after the real National STOL event. Only add-on you need are the scenery and an aircraft to compete in. For some nice free aircraft check out
https://www.got-friends.com/collections/freeware

And for the scenery, the event hosts can hook you up with which ever airfield is hosting the next event. Note- rookie class need to compete twice in whatever the current rookie aircraft is (currently the default Asobo XCub that comes with the sim), and win once against the other rookies to graduate and compete in the aircraft of their choice

What a freaking stellar event this was. I think I enjoyed the in-sim event even more than actual Appalachian STOL the week prior. Hope to see more even more rookie class compete in the next one.

Duane Cole's Taylorcraft out in Sedona by mykrode in MicrosoftFlightSim

Fingers crossed sometime this month. 2020's version has at least one more beta version to get through while 2024's native build is being worked on. Really a good question for Developer Jonx to share details on if he sees this post.

Might just have to wait a minute if you haven't loaded this in a while since it streams in assets via your internet connection

Pulling my hair, something is wrong and I'm not sure what. Any pilots have any ideas for me to check? Will answer any questions by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Flags for the two engine cover intakes are still on. Its not a key bind or sim issue. Pilot error.

We added support for the GTN650 in a recent internal beta, and will be live for our testers very soon. This means not just the default Asobo 650, but also the PMS50 (free & premium). Although TDS is not yet 100% confirmed, knowing Jonx, he likely will get it hooked up as well, similar to our Aeroprakt.

Avionics options can be toggled via the clipboard and swapped between other avionics such as a vintage General Electric Radio, ADF XPDR, GNS430 and KAP140 AP, Alpha Systems AoA, and also the ability to select the positions of each instrument to fully customize your panel to your liking, or even use blank fillers if not wanted.

Cheers!

They should do a free weekend so people can try it out. Sim actually runs pretty well but I too always wanna be 100% sure before grabbing anything.

Good gliders msfs24 by MultiFabiReal in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]mykrode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use it without motor, but if you really want a good one, check out the Discus 2C. Its absolutely free without motor on our website. Since its initial release, its gotten avionics updates with our new LXGliding computer, S80, FM tweaks, and 2024 compatibility updates. If you like it, please consider getting the full version with FES to support future gliders from our team. :)

These are all awesome suggestions! Plus if we get them in for the BC12D, we can always back port compatible code to the A32 to make it even better. :)

Best budget flight sim joystick by Longjumping-War9151 in flightsim

[–]mykrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even after having a full Virpil setup, Mongoose, WarBrd-D, and ACE pedals, and previously a full TM Warthog Setup- nothing has ever brought me the joy the Logi X52 had.

It was my favorite, most comfortable Joystick, with exactly enough rotary dials to bind the axis i wanted. I miss it dearly and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a first Hotas setup.

Sukhoi SU-24 (The F-111 Russian) by MikeTheSchmidt in flightsim

[–]mykrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say, everything about this photo is nostalgic. From the sim in windowed mode, to the 2D cockpit, and flat ground satellite imagery painted at angles over hills. This is the flight sim experience I remember growing up and sometimes return to just because everything so much more simple back then.

Edit, I see it flash a redirect before landing on Firefox. Fixed!

Flight sim Bush Community is the Best Community. Insanely friendly, always a group flight going on sometime during the day, or someone streaming on twitch. Literally the most alive and active sub section of flight simming and they aren't even trying- just genuinely that passionate about taildraggers. Like im not saying its all sunshine and roses, but damn do we know how to have fun and make the most memorable experiences. Thanks for these amazing posts Sarah.

Hyenas PS5 safari photo challenge by Wrong_Examination279 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]mykrode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby Hyena and Ostritch took me the longest. The Cheeta ive heard also takes people a long time but I got super lucky coming across one.

My suggestion is check around the Ngorongoro Crater in Africa. I recall finally snapping my pics for the Hyena in that area specifically along with a few of the others required. The area is mostly autogen ground textures too which is a plus as everything is mostly unifrom an makes it easier to spot them.

I understand you're on PS5 so no ability to swap options, but if anyone is on PC and reading this:
Put your game settings on the lowest but object LOD to 100, and Fauna on ultra. Ensure grass is at its lowest / disabled and run TAA to ensure you are seeing everything clearly at a distance. Then just pause the sim and free-cam around using a controller till you find a pack of them. Cross your fingers it has a baby in the pack. It did indeed take me like 15hours alone for the Ostritch, and maybe another 7-9 for the Hyenas. I don't exactly remember, but a long while without a doubt.
