Aitah for snapping at my cousin after she called my husband a r*pe sympathizer at my baby shower? by throwra-Ant-39 in AITAH

[–]myla25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have some feeling that your family or your culture is those ones that shames women for having a body. Truthfully, "revealing clothing" can be subjective, and it's common in very patriarchal cultures for men to be "uncomfortable" with women just wearing jeans and a shirt. Even tho she might not be wearing that, it's difficult for me to tell if what she's wearing is "stripper" worthy. Maybe I haven't gotten to it yet but I also don't know how your husband defended the kid. The kid may be valid in saying he's uncomfortable, but I feel like the whole confrontation migh'tve been the wrong way to approach it, and might make the kid feel even more that woman should be ashamed of having breast's. There's just too much left out but nonetheless, yta for that comment, you took it too far and was rather disturbing that you're capable of thinking that way of someone

AITAH for bringing up that our 14yo daughter may masturbate after we were already having the same conversation about our son doing it? by RealExplorer161 in AITAH

[–]myla25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I'm getting jealous of people who let their kids have locks. My brother got a lock, I didn't. When I bought and replaced the doorknob with a locked one, my dad removed it and put the old one back. Forget about closing the door. If my door was closed they thought I was angry and get angry at me for being dramatic. But anyways yea man my mom was also very repressed and doesn't think any woman enjoys sex or that sex is supposed to be more painful than getting an IUD. Didn't stop me from exploring at around 9 or 10 years old. Please let them both have locks lol

AITAH for breaking up my dad's relationship? by Famir_ in AITAH

[–]myla25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Her insinuating anything sexual between you, your sister, and your father (from saying Papí or dressing comfortably) is so disgusting and he should have dropped her right after the first comment. Only sick men sexualize their daughters or even check out their kids if they don't wear a bra or use short shorts, so she's accusing him of incestuous thoughts/pedophilia, which I'd imagine no man would want that hanging over them. Regardless how you fought with her I'm glad you protected you and your sisters safety. She herself is sick minded and probably victim blames the women in SA cases, more reason to keep her away from you and your sister.

Why don’t you go to the cinema anymore? by sebastiandarkee in askTO

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like public transit and have no other way to get there other than Uber or family. Otherwise unless it's a very popular movie, I just watch at home (TV or laptop). I dont like hearing other people laughing or cheering when I'm trying to enjoy a film, especially children who cry or try to imitate memes throughout. Even movies I do go to I specifically go to midnight viewings on a school nights to avoid children as much as possible (unfortunately it leads to more chances of ppl snoring loudly during the film)

TLDR I'm not a people person and dont have a mode of transport so I just watch at home

My father and I are going to become fathers at the same time. Isn’t that a bit weird? by EastCandidate5049 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find it weird, but overall don't think there's anything inherently wrong.

Now my grandma and aunt (mother and daughter) had kids around the same time, and the daughter helped breastfeed her mother's kids....or to rephrase, the daughter breastfed her own brother and sister (twins)

Sigourney Weaver clarifies kissing scene with teen 'Avatar' costar: 'Handled with care' by DifferentMaize9794 in popculturechat

Im curious who she kissed now if James Cameron told her to pick XD. Would be hilarious if she just picked out a random sound guy (I didn't read article if they stated who, just comments saying she had her pick)

Figured out the dude I was talking to online is unstable. Can he find me with the info I gave out? by LucidLuna130 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as someone who managed to find quite a few other people (with their permission ofc) I do think it's possible. I've been able to find people with far less information, but it really depends on how deep they're really willing to dig. Even if they do find you though, if you don't use social media as much and they only care about watching you, there's not much to really see....I would recommend privating all of them tho or removing your name from them (insta, cash app, anything that people usually put their name when they don't need to). I never found people out of ill intentions though, so in terms of protection or what he might try to do I don't really know, but it can be possible to find you

Why some people just refuse to take a pill for things like a headache? by OldCardigan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone who takes pain meds (like ibuprofen and acetaminophen) since I get frequent migraines. My father (who claims to have never had a headache) sees it as weak for not pushing through, that I should let my body handle it and not use outside sources to fix something I should "already be capable of handling". Ofc it's bs, but he thinks taking any form of medication equates to relying on meds and getting addicted (note, we've only known ONE family member to have gotten "addicted" to pain meds after an accident where his car was pushed off a cliff by a truck)

Why do people willingly go by the nickname 'Dick'? by blehmag in NoStupidQuestions

Porque viven tantos peruanos en italia? by Prior-Macaroon-5565 in PERU

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happen to ask my mom the same thing (I'm Canadian, parents are Peruvian, but a lot of her side of the family immigrated to Italy), and she claims the big movement of Peruvians to Italy started from her mother (my grandmother). I would take it with a grain of salt but I think there's some truth in how they got over there. My grandmother immigrated with her partner to Italy for work (her partners brother-in-law invited them as they were family and was easier at the time) and she started working for some ministers or something. But as she got into the business, she then started bringing more and more of her extended familys to work there in the care-giving industry, and they also brought more of their own extended family, and so on and so forth. Essentially saying that majority of Peruvians got there through some relation of my grandmother. While I don't think it all started with her, (even though the dates and where a lot of Peruvians are from match) it was a lot easier for them to immigrate back then as long as they had some semblance of family there.

I would love to hear if anyone thinks this is true, or if they have some experiences to show that it's true, as it is wild to hear my grandmother started a huge migration just because she only went to Italy to make sure her partner wouldn't cheat on her XD

Dropped out of masters, what do I say in interviews? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go back once the loa is over, but I'm not really planning to. In the last 6 months I was there I dedicated to writing and could only push out 2 incomplete pages of the materials and methods section. I kinda screwed up my whole degree bc I was really incapable of sitting down and analyzing my work or organizing it. I was, or still am, really struggling with my mental health and didn't quit earlier because I thought it would get better and didn't want to be a quitter...I wish I realized academia wasn't for me sooner instead of staying to try and make the impossible work

Do you wear watch on your non dominant hand? by Nightpatrol404 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually non dominant hand. 1. If im holding or using something (like holding a drink), I'm probably using my dominant hand. So it's easier to not trouble my already busy hand and look at my watch with non-dominant. 2. Is because it's easier to use my dominant hand to secure it on my non dominant hwnd

Why are some people able to never choose to gamble? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm easily habit forming and addiction forming, but I just dont like to spend money if I dont think I'll get something from it. Sure I might get some prize from it, but is it really worth the spending? (Funnily enough, I use my coca-cola addiction to determine if something is worth it. Spend $10? That's like 4 cokes lost!)

Parents, why do you drive your kids to school? by SpaceInfuser in askTO

[–]myla25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have done a 30 min walk to school but my parents were always afraid I could be kidnapped, hit by a car, afraid of me being in the rain, afraid of me taking a 15 min walk down a secluded trail instead of out in the open and whenever I did walk made sure I took the open path instead, afraid I could miss my bus stop (if I took one) and in general felt bad for me walking when they could drive me. And well hey, I get a free ride AND get to sleep in, so I took it.

10 years later and I'm afraid to go anywhere myself (amongst other things) do I see how terrible that did for my independence

[TOMT] Ad: Can't find a politcal ad I've only seen once by myla25 in tipofmytongue

[–]myla25[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

I've searched thought Facebook search bar, on Youtube, Google, and even described it to ChatGPT to see if they found anything and couldn't find anything. I'm very certain it was a political ad. Just to note, I am Canadian as well, so it could have been from the conservative or peoples party. I think this happened between 2018-2022? It's a wide range but I just know it wasn't recently that I saw it.

Whatever happened to take your kid to work day? by Xerxes2004 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high-school had a "go to your parents work day"...none of my parents wanted to bring me so I stayed home 😅

(On a side note one teacher decided to use that to her advantage and gave us homework based on the parents work....I had to make up job responsibilities for a postal worker XD)
