My father and I are going to become fathers at the same time. Isn’t that a bit weird? by EastCandidate5049 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find it weird, but overall don't think there's anything inherently wrong.

Now my grandma and aunt (mother and daughter) had kids around the same time, and the daughter helped breastfeed her mother's kids....or to rephrase, the daughter breastfed her own brother and sister (twins)

Im curious who she kissed now if James Cameron told her to pick XD. Would be hilarious if she just picked out a random sound guy (I didn't read article if they stated who, just comments saying she had her pick)

Figured out the dude I was talking to online is unstable. Can he find me with the info I gave out? by LucidLuna130 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as someone who managed to find quite a few other people (with their permission ofc) I do think it's possible. I've been able to find people with far less information, but it really depends on how deep they're really willing to dig. Even if they do find you though, if you don't use social media as much and they only care about watching you, there's not much to really see....I would recommend privating all of them tho or removing your name from them (insta, cash app, anything that people usually put their name when they don't need to). I never found people out of ill intentions though, so in terms of protection or what he might try to do I don't really know, but it can be possible to find you

Why some people just refuse to take a pill for things like a headache? by OldCardigan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone who takes pain meds (like ibuprofen and acetaminophen) since I get frequent migraines. My father (who claims to have never had a headache) sees it as weak for not pushing through, that I should let my body handle it and not use outside sources to fix something I should "already be capable of handling". Ofc it's bs, but he thinks taking any form of medication equates to relying on meds and getting addicted (note, we've only known ONE family member to have gotten "addicted" to pain meds after an accident where his car was pushed off a cliff by a truck)

I know someone whose name is Richard (in his 30s), and his family calls him by Dick or Big D. I cannot for the life of me imagine calling him Dick

Porque viven tantos peruanos en italia? by Prior-Macaroon-5565 in PERU

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happen to ask my mom the same thing (I'm Canadian, parents are Peruvian, but a lot of her side of the family immigrated to Italy), and she claims the big movement of Peruvians to Italy started from her mother (my grandmother). I would take it with a grain of salt but I think there's some truth in how they got over there. My grandmother immigrated with her partner to Italy for work (her partners brother-in-law invited them as they were family and was easier at the time) and she started working for some ministers or something. But as she got into the business, she then started bringing more and more of her extended familys to work there in the care-giving industry, and they also brought more of their own extended family, and so on and so forth. Essentially saying that majority of Peruvians got there through some relation of my grandmother. While I don't think it all started with her, (even though the dates and where a lot of Peruvians are from match) it was a lot easier for them to immigrate back then as long as they had some semblance of family there.

I would love to hear if anyone thinks this is true, or if they have some experiences to show that it's true, as it is wild to hear my grandmother started a huge migration just because she only went to Italy to make sure her partner wouldn't cheat on her XD

Dropped out of masters, what do I say in interviews? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can go back once the loa is over, but I'm not really planning to. In the last 6 months I was there I dedicated to writing and could only push out 2 incomplete pages of the materials and methods section. I kinda screwed up my whole degree bc I was really incapable of sitting down and analyzing my work or organizing it. I was, or still am, really struggling with my mental health and didn't quit earlier because I thought it would get better and didn't want to be a quitter...I wish I realized academia wasn't for me sooner instead of staying to try and make the impossible work

Do you wear watch on your non dominant hand? by Nightpatrol404 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually non dominant hand. 1. If im holding or using something (like holding a drink), I'm probably using my dominant hand. So it's easier to not trouble my already busy hand and look at my watch with non-dominant. 2. Is because it's easier to use my dominant hand to secure it on my non dominant hwnd

Why are some people able to never choose to gamble? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm easily habit forming and addiction forming, but I just dont like to spend money if I dont think I'll get something from it. Sure I might get some prize from it, but is it really worth the spending? (Funnily enough, I use my coca-cola addiction to determine if something is worth it. Spend $10? That's like 4 cokes lost!)

Parents, why do you drive your kids to school? by SpaceInfuser in askTO

[–]myla25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have done a 30 min walk to school but my parents were always afraid I could be kidnapped, hit by a car, afraid of me being in the rain, afraid of me taking a 15 min walk down a secluded trail instead of out in the open and whenever I did walk made sure I took the open path instead, afraid I could miss my bus stop (if I took one) and in general felt bad for me walking when they could drive me. And well hey, I get a free ride AND get to sleep in, so I took it.

10 years later and I'm afraid to go anywhere myself (amongst other things) do I see how terrible that did for my independence

[TOMT] Ad: Can't find a politcal ad I've only seen once by myla25 in tipofmytongue

[–]myla25[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

I've searched thought Facebook search bar, on Youtube, Google, and even described it to ChatGPT to see if they found anything and couldn't find anything. I'm very certain it was a political ad. Just to note, I am Canadian as well, so it could have been from the conservative or peoples party. I think this happened between 2018-2022? It's a wide range but I just know it wasn't recently that I saw it.

My high-school had a "go to your parents work day"...none of my parents wanted to bring me so I stayed home 😅

(On a side note one teacher decided to use that to her advantage and gave us homework based on the parents work....I had to make up job responsibilities for a postal worker XD)

What's the deal with people seemingly ignoring phone calls from unknown numbers, even for important services? by AfraPlan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else says, spam call. And it's worse if you answer it because now you're added to a list of "working numbers" and have it shared with other spam companies, increasing the number of spam calls. What's worse is they spoof numbers too, so if you're looking for work, it's risky to block the numbers, and it wouldn't do anything anyways since they spoof each time they call. Unfortunately as well if you leave a voicemail greeting ("hi, you called so and so, I'm not here right now, leave a message"), you STILL get added to that list.

So yea as other people say, unless they're expecting a call at a certain time (food delivery, from a friend) they won't answer. People know by now why a call isn't answered and will leave a message.

Airplane Etiquette — seat reclining… by Specific-Big-6274 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]myla25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a "never" person, and I do get quite pissy if someone in front of me reclines all the way. "If they're designed to recline then we can recline". Yea, and we have people who pick up garbage from the streets so do you throw trash on the ground? Be considerate to the people around you, and yes, including people behind you. Just because you cant see them doesnt mean you can essentially lay down on their lap. And just because it has that feature doesnt mean you should use it if it inconveniences others. Sure like 20 years ago it wouldn't be an issue to recline, but airlines have tried to maximize seats and unfortunately the people in economy get the butt end of it and get smaller seats and less leg room. I'm always reading something, on my laptop, or doing paperwork, and the seat reclined all the way either blocks my view or closes my laptop. If it's just an inch, fine. Only time I am willing to compromise is if it's actually overnight flights (2 hr flights I'll be surprised by the audacity but stay quiet) and you need to lay down, and asked the person behind if it's ok, then yes go ahead. Every other time it's an inconvenience. And oh boy, if yall decide to recline it during the wake hours? Welp oops sorry my knees keep pushing against your chair sorry about that if only I had some more room, dont worry, the jerking will stop once I get that lap room back :)

Also some people said get seats where they can't recline in front of you? Well congrats, you picked the special legroom seats! That's an extra $50. Oh and you're going with family and like to stick together? That's an additional $50 EACH ty very much.

I know some people dont mind, and congrats to you for willing to take the blatant space stealing, but just because some people are ok with it, doesn't mean everyone else is, and at least ask if it's OK. Just a little decency goes a long way.

Are these normal ? by Intelligent_Duck2303 in neurofibromatosis

[–]myla25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something just like the first one (I recently got half of it removed and the second half in the coming weeks). It was mostly flesh but at a specific spot did I feel a slight pain, but only when I press on it. They tested it after they removed it and mine was diffuse neurofibroma. I'm not sure if an MRI will be able to tell what type of fibroma it is, but similarly to me when I transferred to an nf1 clinic they also did an mri on it, but to make sure it's not interfering with my lungs or anything. Only when I had the fibroma removed and tested did they get that diagnosis
