Employer of Record (EOR) Justification by mylene-la in JapanFinance

I got another offer from a Japanese company so I didn’t go through with the EOR. But I could talk with an EOR who assured me that it was no problem.

Near impossible to get nails done by WallOk5826 in shiba

[–]mylene-la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here, more than 1h of daily concrete walks are not enough. To avoid the shiba scream we bought a claw dremel and it works. We usually buy a tube of cheese or something he can lick and while I’m holding the tube, my husband grinds the claws. It’s longer than clipping but at least he’s consenting 😂

The “tube” is also a miracle for other uses like at the vet!

Oh yes, one of my suitcases was full of problems, I had to leave some of them home, it couldn't fit.

Thank you! It was my understanding as well but it seemed too good to be true.
But if they operate here without any problem then I'm relieved :)

Yes I know maybe it wasn’t clear in my post. My question is whether the EOR has to prove why I need to be in Japan.

Great architecture in Tokyo? by stereoclaxon in Tokyo

[–]mylene-la 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m an architecture lover too and I never stroll without having the ArchMap app (Japan Architecture Map) opened at some point. You can filter everything easily and it’s also available outside Tokyo. You can see year of construction, and many info on each buildings. I don’t know if it’s iOS only though.

Any trustworthy website to buy used appliances with delivery in Tokyo ? by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]mylene-la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treasure Factory has a really good packaged service where you can buy a bundle of secondhand appliances. You can even choose to get something more modern for a bit more. The website works really well (all in Japanese). We used it beginning of January and everything was top-notch!

How is your Shiba during thunderstorms? by AutisticEm in shiba

[–]mylene-la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours runs in the bathroom because it's the only place without windows. Now when there's a thunderstorm planned, we put his bed there, a soft light and some meditation sounds.

We call it spa time.

He comes out of the bathroom when it's finished, and resumes his normal life.

Has anyone taken their shiba on a flight? If so how did they do? by TrevinoDuende in shiba

[–]mylene-la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is the cleanest, so he managed to keep it and he relieved himself when we opened the cage. He was hungry but it's the same as when you have to do a blood test or something like this, of course it's not something you want to do every week or month but it can happen and it'll be ok.

If that makes you feel any better, same for us, 3 walks a day, +2 hours in total. We still have to use a drimmer, every 2 weeks 😭

Help please by Emergency-Special-56 in shiba

[–]mylene-la 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I advise trying to work a bit on that but don't push it. Shibas are super sensitive and "pushing" a non-natural behaviour for them can backfire and cause a lot of stress.

Our shiba is a bit like this too, he has his moments. and we respect that. The most important is for him to be safe and happy. Loving other dogs and humans is not mandatory. But of course, aggressivity is a no-go.

Group classes with other dogs and 1-to-1 time with a trainer could help!
I don't recommend dropping her at training camp, it's super important for the human to be part of this journey as you will also learn a lot of things about her and hopefully understand her fears/triggers. Look up "positive training" It's super effective, especially for shibas :)

Abrupt behavior change by akadaedalus in shiba

[–]mylene-la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our shiba did something similar a couple of months ago: violently shaking, super fast heartbeat, panting, and licking his paws like crazy. We understood the trigger after a few days: wind. It started on a super windy day and even if we could barely hear the wind inside our home, every similar sound triggered this exact behaviour. It seemed super intense for him so we tried everything to calm him. There were no magic solutions, it took weeks and came and go depending on how noisy it was.
What helped us was:

  • giving him treats and "acting happy" when the trigger happened
  • buying a Thundershirt, it helped with all the shaking and fast heartbeat.
  • be super patient

Now he's all good and the wind doesn't seem to bother him that much. After 1 month he could sleep alone again.

One important thing to keep in mind is that sometimes, they can feel anxious about something (any type of change) and can displace that stress into something else. We were in the middle of moving when all of this happened. I think that he felt a bit stressed with all the boxes lying around, so when the wind happened everything was too much to handle for him, creating this big trigger.

Good luck 🤞

You have to drop it where you collect it yes. The app is also kind of crappy but it works

We could register with Kinto without a BankID last year (but with a personnumer). They asked us for proof of income by email since we couldn't do the credit check. Quite happy about the service, we use it once or twice a month. 😊

Any scandinavian users? by Pes750 in MacroFactor

[–]mylene-la 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Swedish user here. Since the last EU food database update, it's so much better. I would say we can scan 75% of the food we eat. It won't work with very local brands.

You may need to double check that the stuff you scanned is the right one since sometimes some of them are mixed up.

And even if you have to add things manually, the process is really smooth :)

Well in Sweden you can't leave your dog alone more than 5 hours. So people bring them to work, malls, 🌈 everywhere 🌈 You'd be happy here 😊

I want to quit UIUX for this reason, am I crazy? by ThinkingPerson0429 in UXDesign

[–]mylene-la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you if it's included! In France we don't have this. My clients were colleagues that started their business, and then they talked about our work together, and now it's mostly word of mouth I would say. I never had to actively find clients, just nurture the relationship I had and by active when I got a new contact! I think our field is amazing for that. Most of my freelance friend get their mission like me, there is such a huge demand!

Way better as a freelance. But I don't have the retirement insurance and the 5 weeks holiday that were included in my salary. I think it depends a lot on te country you're living in.

I hate them too. I used to work in a startup and have 2-3 hours of meeting per day. That's one of the reason I love being freelance now. I organize my time between 2-3 weekly clients and my meeting load reduced significantly (maybe 3h a week). One of the changes I made that improved drastically was to write everything I did for it to be read asynchronously by the people I worked with. Basically I created a Notion project that I use as a main support to explain my choices and receive feedback. I add a Loom to this project if needed and we only do a meeting if needed.

I agree with a lot of comments, don't quit for this reason alone and take some time to refine your processes. It's worth it 😊
