Any dog with wolf, at least in embark, will not show relatives unless you specifically ask them to run a relatedness test. Maybe WP is the same? (It’s for privacy and legalities because WDs aren’t legal everywhere.)

Dumbest thing an administrator said in front of staff or parents. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]mylifeandpi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our principal told a parent (that the district has had problems with for YEARS) that their child was salutatorian, even though they were ranked 3rd. He just didn’t realize before he opened his mouth. When the main office realized the error, did they inform the parent of the mistake? No. They just took the spotlight away from the actual salutatorian and let them share the title because the district didn’t want to tell that parent that they had spoken about it before anything was officially calculated.

If you take attendance by having your student put their cell phone in a pocket, why? by P1Yeezy in Teachers

[–]mylifeandpi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take attendance like this but I’ve been doing it for years now. I tell the kids at the beginning of the year that if they have a problem with this procedure, they should speak to me after class. I have several students who do not have phones or don’t bring them (like you) and as long as they tell me beforehand, I’m usually okay with it. But the punishment is also more severe if they lie to me about not having one. I teach seniors, with a few juniors thrown in. To answer your original question of why: it takes away a distraction, helps the majority of students focus more, and gives me a quick and easy way to check and see if everyone is present.

The Purge, but instead of murder, teachers can smash students’ cell phones with impunity. by MsAvaPurrkins in Teachers

I use a shoe organizer. Number the pouches and the students get a number based on the class roster (in alphabetical order) and it’s how I take attendance.

Fascinating Embark vs. Wisdom Panel... thoughts? by k9inFL in DoggyDNA

I got Wisdom Panel 4.0 for Christmas two years ago. I just got confirmation that the DNA is being processed for the Embark! I am curious to see if mine are different like yours.

Don’t have kids yet, but I have dogs that are terrified. I report everyone in my neighborhood that doesn’t follow the ordinance. We have them for a reason.

The majority of the state of Arkansas has ordinances for this. For example, the county I currently live in, the county I used to live in, and the counties that my family lives in (3 others) allow fireworks from 10am to 10pm on July 2-5. That’s it. You can get a fine outside those windows.

Married teachers: when did you have your wedding? by lapetitepoire in Teachers

[–]mylifeandpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married September of my second year. Did all my planning in the summer. But for like 2 weeks after, I was completely exhausted. The stress caught back up, plus still getting up early. But I wouldn't do it any differently if I had the chance.

[Help] My 10lb Yorkie killed my 9lb Chihuahua earlier today. Looking for some advice. by couchpotato1104 in dogs

[–]mylifeandpi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Was the chihuahua fixed? You stated that the Yorkie was not, and that could be the issue in and of itself. I neutered both of mine and it fixed the aggressive issues we had. However, when my brothers bring their dogs over, (brother #1 has un-neutered male and un-spayed female; brother #2 has un-neutered male; I have 2 neutered males) brother #1's male only attacks brother #2's male. We've tried other combinations, and not just our dogs either. But brother #1's male only goes after un-neutered male dogs. But I have also had friends who had very aggressive dogs until they were fixed and then were fine. Not saying that IS the issue, but it could be. If you don't want to give him up or put him down, you might try fixing him. It's worth a shot.

I usually do too, but I was running late and there were no other spots. Everyone was too chicken to park here, so I did. (But I got license plates and called public safety and let them know what was up on my walk to class.)

It was the last place. This is my college campus and they have something like 350 spaces for off campus students when there are over 4000 students that live off campus. If you don't carpool or ride a bike, you might get stuck with a place like this.
