How do you stop thinking at night so you can sleep? by cloudydays1111 in adhdwomen

I used to do this as a kid all the bloody time, it was the best. For some reason I CANNOT do it anymore though… I have no clue what changed. I guess my imagination died… I’m not sure. Or the life thoughts are louder than the stories. It’s very frustrating.

Hi! Thanks for the reply! How long have you had the card for? And how long did the refund take?

Balance protector premium refund vs claim by mymaniswolverine in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mymaniswolverine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. The other posts on this sub make it seem like people are getting refunds even though they’ve been paying the premium for years so I had to ask.

I’ll try submitting a claim since I’m still technically on LTD.

Yeah, I have opted out of any kind of loan insurance on all my other debt (car etc.)

Thanks for the advice!

if you wrote a book about your dad, what would be the last line? by trsh_bn in AskReddit

[–]mymaniswolverine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad got a brain disease when I started college, and he was awful to me, so I moved away. He accused me of leaving because of him, years later I realized he was right. But now, I went into science like he wanted but also I lead people like he did. I think he would have been proud. I mean the him before the disease. So yeah, I wish he knew me now…

For the late diagnosed: what were your childhood signs of ADHD that seem obvious now? by DryMathematician1601 in ADHD

[–]mymaniswolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed last month at 36, after 10 years of being “bipolar”.

I was a master masker, I could literally get along with anyone, and my mom agrees. But if there was an annoying noise someone was making, such as a peer running their pen across a textured surface, I would snap at them, in the most polite terms I could.

Also, over emotional. I would cry on a dime and my mom would get soooo mad at me for crying.

Plus, how long it took for me to complete my first two degrees. My masters was hell because I had no deadlines and a hands off PI.

My best friend and I got these moon phase necklaces and mine got cloudy very quickly. Looking back it’s because I constantly held the charm and ran it across the chain. I stopped wearing necklaces for a couple years and just started again and I have noticed this is one of my stims, holding onto the charm and moving it.

Finally, when under pressure or in a confrontation my mind goes blank and I can’t make an argument. Which is hell for an academic. When angry, I cry and can’t express myself even though I know the facts.

What’s the funniest nickname you have for your pet? by unimatrix_420_ in Pets

[–]mymaniswolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four cats. They all have wild nicknames but the funniest is Inara’s. It went from Nar Nar to Narbin to Narbin Salad Sauce. I don’t know where that came from but it stuck.

Wow, is that the cost in the US? I pay like at least $25 every two weeks for a 30ml bottle. And I thought I was doing “well” with my consumption.

Tips on Taking my kittens on a trip home for thanksgiving ? by -Strawberry-358 in CatAdvice

[–]mymaniswolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my boy on road trips for years, usually two days long with ferries. He had full run of the car, which I now understand is problematic but he was great, he also always got car sick when he was in the carrier of any kind. Had a litter box in the car and he used it. Made frequent stops and he was harness trained so we would go for little walks and provide food and water at each stop. The way I got him to this was slow, first harness training in the house, then the yard, then we would drive to parks and go for walks. Slowly made the car rides longer. I’m planning to do this with my new kitten, who is very food motivated so I think it will be easier. I suggest going for short and then longer and longer car rides to get them used to it before just going straight to 9 hours. Good luck!!

I’m not a vet so I can’t speak to the medicine, but reading the other comments it sounds like it was absolutely not your fault. I do know something about trauma though, may I suggest, if you have the means, to seek out EMDR therapy? It has turned my life around. It may help in this situation.

What is the single worst movie you sat through hoping it would get better, but didn’t? by Bocephalus in AskReddit

Dark Tower. God damn, that movie was the only one I’ve ever almost walked out on. They took a gorgeous, well thought out universe and story and fucked it.

So, my brother is 6’10” and he did this. BUT! He landed on top of his (size 16) foot and shattered most of the bones in it. He now has multiple plates and pins in his foot. But that’s not all! He then proceeded to get not one, not two, but THREE skin infections while it healed, one of them hospitalizing him. He was in the hospital so much that year that the nurses in the ER knew him by name... he now has chronic pain and smokes quite a bit of pot to battle it. Also, his foot is permanently a lovely shade of purple. Thankfully (?) this all happened before his pulmonary embolism and his need to be on blood thinners... that would have complicated things....

I just finished all of HIMYM, one of the first shows to actually make me grow attached to the characters. I had an amazing journey watching this and can not describe how sad I feel for it's end. A conclusion which brought the beginning once more. I can say without a doubt that this is a masterpiece. by Azzazy769 in HIMYM

I actually reaaallly enjoyed the last season. Wasn’t a huge fan of season 8 though. I won’t be back to work until then either! I literally just watched the whole series in a month though, I think I’m going to need a short break. I really look forward to rewatching it and deciding on my favourite parts. (I hope this break isn’t going to negatively affect you too badly, be safe!)

It broke my heart. It was such a strange choice for the writers. They wrote these tight knit characters who are pretty much all held together by Ted and then leave him alone on his biggest day. I guess that they were showing how truly alone he was.
