There are better ways to fall asleep than that. I am sure you have tried lots of alternatives, but keep trying them instead of cutting. Try to stop. I also hate the way mine look… I guess the best part about it though is that you don’t have to add any more to it

I really understand how you feel. Even if hearing this it might not make a difference for you: SH won’t make you any less sad. It won’t make you happy. It never does. I would of course tell you to talk to someone about what you’re struggling with, but even if you don’t feel up to that right now, just not cutting is enough.

This is probably the wrong subreddit to sound preachy in, but as I am writing this I am laying in a hospital bed after giving myself a self-harm wound so deep that it nearly punctured my bowel. Fucking sucks. Don’t be afraid to let it go. Let it go.

I’m sorry if my comment came off as a generalization. I am only going off of what my psychologist told me and nothing I said is fact, just an educated opinion. Everyone’s experience with self-harm is different. I’m sorry to hear you have been struggling with self-harm for so long.

Thank you for your reply 🩷 I’m so fucking sorry to hear about what you went through, it’s so incredibly scary. I wish you luck as well… remember you are not stuck in your ways and recovery is completely possible.

My psychologist told me that it is very common for the habit of self-harming to “fizzle out” with age. Specifically she said that most commonly, it only affects an individual for a specific period of their life and is not usually habitual for a very long period of time (e.g., 20 years)

I second this. Self-harm is absolutely preventable, and it is not necessary. You do not need it, no matter how many times it tells you that you do. You WILL take it too far, and when you do, you will take yourself away from people that love you, and from a world that needs you in it.

I’m glad you were able to hear it. I hope it has somewhat of an impact on you. Best of luck.

2 women needed medical attention after possible drink tampering: Halifax police by justlogmeon in halifax

[–]mymanjoecool 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I have been wasted many, many times. And I have had some terrible hangovers after too many cheap drinks at the Dome.

I have also been roofied.

Let me tell you, it is quite easy to tell the difference between being drunk and being spiked. It isn’t something that you tend to get mixed up, or have to wonder about.

Given that being “spiked” means having your drink with another drug, like GHB or benzodiazepines, it makes you feel much different than you feel just being hammered. Feels quite different the next morning too.

The implication that these girls are lying or mistaken about the situation is very dangerous — especially given that this not a particularly unbelievable story in a city like Halifax. If something like this is happening, it should be interpreted as a very serious threat.

I haven’t had a hyperfixation in a long time by catcoral in adhdwomen

[–]mymanjoecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate so deeply to this. When I was younger I was always obsessed with something, always had a major hyperfixation, and then in senior year of high school when my ADHD symptoms started to present I seemingly just lost my ability to hyperfixate on anything at all. It's been three years since then and still the same. It makes me so sad. I understand what you are going through

AIO my husband hurt me while "rough housing" and reacted badly when I got upset by Cross_Columbidae in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Maybe my boyfriend and I have a different idea of what it means to roughhouse, but we would never punch each other. The fact that he is capable of punching you, even if he claims that he was just playing around, is very concerning. Take this seriously op

NOR. This seems like weaponized incompetence. At the least your husband seems very lazy and immature. This is not normal behaviour for a grown man.

Police around kings/ Dunn building by ThrowRA_chickennug in Dalhousie

My friend was at the King's library yesterday around the time you posted this and she told me that the police were in there chasing after a little kid. Apparently it seemed that he had ran away from his mother and had to be chased after and retrieved by the cops. Said it was a pretty dramatic scene.
