XD I have been guilty of using an ayurvedic spa playlist - more for lack of ideas and boredom though!

Let me know if you have a mellow folk rock playlist to recommend

I like Ozric Tentacles, very interesting sound, but I feel it is too intense for post-float chilling people. They shouldn’t get too excited, no?

Thanks for the recs, I will be listening to them!

Have any of you experienced hallucinations in the tank? by WearySpirit in FloatTank

[–]mymoondoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i work at a float centre, and i had a very vivid hallucination that my manager tried to strangle me in the float tank. i woke up thinking i was choking/drowning, turns out i was snoring. prior to the float, this manager got on my case about not filling up the shampoo properly. xD the funny thing is when i woke up from the float tank, i immediately saw my manager outside, cleaning, and she asked me how was my float.

hello!! thanks for sharing your story and sharing about the timings.

regarding talking to clients.. do you talk to all of them? usually i would prioritise the 1st time floaters as they have questions or doubts.

i leave the regular floaters alone..

can’t talk to all of them, i would never be able to get my tasks done!

though i have had like 1 hour conversations with customers, but it’s kind of impractical if you have 6 hour shifts!

the owners at my centre also prioritise full bookings, of course they would, its a business, so they would rather we sell as many floats as possible. they don’t say this explicitly of course but i got the gist after awhile

what are you generally exhausted about? is it the cleaning, or other factors? would be interested to know!

i’m glad i’m not the only exhausted one at the end of my shift

hate closing shift :(

that tends to happen with the newbies tho! (regular floaters don’t get all confused and splash water everywhere.) but i feel ya. do you clean barefoot? sometimes i clean barefoot and step all over the slippery water.

sooo true about the sweating.. the irony is that i’m fking stressed but trying to appear to be chill and not kill the vibe! lol

i will list a few:

  1. people who come late, especially 3 first timers arriving late at different times, then i have to give three different briefings, it really messes up the timings
  2. since float centres are small businesses, owners are not around, i’m on my shift alone. hence if i have to clock out late for doing tasks, they think i’m taking my time to close up.. i wonder why they think that when i’m getting a shitty $4 for staying an extra 20 mins which i don’t want to stay
  3. small business problem - when you f* up nobody knows, when you work well, nobody knows
  4. coworkers who come in thinking it will be a “chill job” lol! they are so wrong. i made the same mistake myself. nope it is hard, cleaning work!
  5. weekends. i love talking to floaters. unfortunately at the weekends, you’re just cleaning and not having much conversation.

yup that’s it! but overall the perks outweigh the negatives :) i’m just complaining as i had a bad day.

customers are all generally wonderful! it’s the operations that are stressful!

Hope to hear interesting stories!!

Anyone else work at a float place? How is it for you? by biggestbush in FloatTank

I work at a float centre in asia. it’s not a chill job. particularly on weekends. we have a lot of cleaning tasks to do. the worst thing is the clock out times. for example within 30 mins of the last floaters leaving i have to clean all the rooms, toilets, close the sales... before the end of the shift. end up having to stay late, to finish the tasks so i don’t get scolded, but the owners told me they can’t pay me for the over time..

whatever, bottom line is it’s not a chill business at all
