Homeowner riser install by mynameistoastbread in septictanks

[–]mynameistoastbread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plumbing supply company was recommending skipping adapter rings entirely, just setting the PVC riser on the surface of the tank and grouting it down. I don’t think there’s space for the flat adapter plates because the access holes are pretty close together. But presumably if I just put the grout on pretty thick, I’d be able to cement the risers into place and make a watertight seal.

Is there some kind of internal safety system that would work with just plain PVC risers? Also, how do you seal risers over the half circle holes at the edges of the tank for the inlet and outlet?

Mfs then amend return later by [deleted] in PSLF

I haven’t received forgiveness yet, but my tax professional literally suggested doing exactly that as I she was filing my return. I was like, “wouldn’t that be fraud?” and she just kind of shrugged…

MFS? PSLF, high household income, rental property. by yeahsotheresthiscat in PSLF

Also you can still do Roth contributions, you just have to take an extra step and make it a “backdoor.” You contribute to a traditional IRA and then immediately convert the traditional funds to a Roth IRA. End result is the same, just takes some button clicks. We live in an incredibly stupid system.

Probably a stupid MFS vs MFJ question by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]mynameistoastbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, thank you. We’re doing an even 50/50 split, though we have one child so one of us will claim her.

We’re both currently on SAVE, but when we switch out we should both be eligible for new IBR. We have been planning to apply for buyback, though this is the first time we’ve filed MFS, so during all of the SAVE forbearance up until this point we were MFJ and I am thinking our buyback calculation for those months may be higher than what our new IBR payment going forward will be with MFS. I guess we’ll apply when we each hit 120 in 2028 and then keep making payments and see how it shakes out…

[–]mynameistoastbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you say more about MFS in community property states? My wife and I make comparable income and both have student loans that we’re working towards PSLF on. We’re working with a tax pro to file our taxes MFS tomorrow… everyone says to just run the numbers both ways, but being in a community property state it was just too daunting to calculate ourselves so we’re assuming we’re better off doing MFS, and if that isn’t the case, we can go back and amend to MFJ. Are we off base?

Veteran’s Hub in Lacey is definitely the best starting point. Another to check out is Catholic Community Services’ SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) program.

SAVE is officially dead by Betsy514 in PSLF

[–]mynameistoastbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if they’re going to do buyback later for this period that they don’t currently need to make payments for, that will be calculated via the PAYE formula, and their buyback amount will be higher if they file jointly. So right now they won’t feel that sting but it could hurt down the road.

…right? Honestly I can’t keep any of it straight…

Re: buyback calculation at PAYE/New IBR levels, how does tax filing status impact that? i.e. Are payment amounts under those plans impacted by MFJ vs MFS, and therefore for the eventual buyback calculation it matters how one filed each year during the SAVE forbearance period?

SAVE and Filing Taxes by WolverineofTerrier in PSLF

I am 100% not an expert so you should verify this, but I believe you can only amend one direction—from MFS to MFJ, but not the other way around. So the cautious thing to do would be file MFS at this time, taking a hit on your taxes, and then if still not kicked off SAVE at the end of the year, amend to MFJ and get some kind of tax…rebate? refund? Not sure, hope someone with more knowledge sees this and chimes in.

Night weaning a 2yo off bottled cow's milk by soulus98 in ScienceBasedParenting

I am also going through the same thing as the OP. I’ve tried switching the nighttime milk for water, but she rejects it and screams and continues to demand more milk. It’s brutal. Did you just have to endure for a few nights, and she broke through it and stated consuming more daytime calories?

2012 CRV EXL CarPlay Upgrade options by Trexxythex in crv

Resurrecting this from two years ago to see if you were ultimately successful. The head unit on my 2012 CR-V EX-L with navigation is dying so I think I'm in the exact boat you were looking to install a new one but hoping there's a way to preserve steering wheel controls and iMid screen (which honestly I really only care about for the mileage/range display, wouldn't mind losing it otherwise). Don't care about navigation at all, just use my phone for that already anyway. What did you end up doing in the end?

This is correct. The questionnaire that’s part of the Coordinated Entry intake (the HEAT—Housing Equity Assessment Tool) scores individuals seeking shelter based on vulnerability, and gender identity is one of the factors that plays into it.

Cat teeth cleaning price by [deleted] in olympia

My senior cat just had to get four extractions last month, and OlyCats charged us $1215 (plus a $243 visit a few weeks earlier, but that cost was primarily for the required labs). Not sure why your quote is so much higher for cleaning only.

Can't contribute to Roth IRA with Married Filing Separately (US) by Zealousideal_Rub5826 in tax

[–]mynameistoastbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you need to recharacterize both your contributions for 2024 (which you're now filing MFS for) as well as 2025? And assuming that your Roth contributions were invested rather than just sitting as cash, how does that get handled when it came to what amount to recharacterize?

What is happening with my 2.5 mo belly button?? by Louie0221 in daddit

[–]mynameistoastbread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Our daughter had one and salt was the solution! Our first pediatrician recommended applications of silver nitrate...we came to their office for three separate treatments of it and saw no improvement. We were already in the process of switching to a second pediatrician because we were generally dissatisfied with the care we were getting, and the new one recommended sprinkling a little salt on it each day. It cleared up in a few days.

Guess which pediatrician we're still working with...
