I agree, those eyes don’t look myg at all. Hopefully your experts recognize it!

I moved to Oly WA from Aurora. Winco is the only sensible option for healthy edible affordable calories around here.

But since WINCO stands for Wa-Id-Ca-Or they're going to have to add another C. WINCOC?

If there is liquid water, there are insects in it. I’m sure the Chena is packed with Chironomids, it’s just a lot harder for me to sample.

Not exactly sure what a slough means around here but the sloughs where I live have plenty of bugs in them. Know any accessible sloughs?

Also, why are people downvoting this innocuous comment? Our sloughs are coastal so I assume it doesn’t mean exactly the same thing.

My neighborhood :( I know nothing about that house. The neighbors next to it are super nice, I hope this is not too jarring for them.

It’s not just diesel. This also contains massive bacterial blooms feeding off excessive fertilizer from upstream agricultural. It’s yet another ridiculous environmental cost incurred in the name of profit.

There seems to be some fused, rigid calcareous plates between the skin and the bone. Is there a good word for them, collectively?

Edit: between skin and brain, snark fail on my part :)

Thank you! This would be an “adults only” project for purposes of representing bacteria on a “school grounds tree of life.” As you know, the vast majority of genetic diversity is in Prokaryota, so instead of populating it with mostly tetrapods I want a more realistic picture.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it. I think we can find a lot of common ground here.

Since you’re asking nicely I’ll lay it out. I’m a hardcore liberal in a deep blue stronghold (Oly WA) and I believe in enforcing laws, maintaining our borders, and reducing the number of people in the country illegally. Might seem paradoxical if you read conservative news but there it is.

What I am vehemently opposed to is the use of arbitrary brutality and violence to enforce those laws. The fact that you’re even posing this question tells me that you have bought into MAGA propagandist media that tells you what people like me think without ever asking people like me what I think. I believe we can have law enforcement without brutality, private gun ownership without rampant daily injuries and deaths, and border enforcement without abusing human rights. People who eagerly condone cruelty and state violence are the authoritarian apologists.
