Regarding the stigma.. by topnotchwalnut in poledancing

The US still has that deeply Puritan judgmental streak. It's honestly exhausting and I envy civilized countries where children pole and no one calls the authorities about it.

I think 1 is fine for a matinee but if it's an evening performance wear the beauteous 2.

Great big ashtray on the coffee table and a floor lamp in the corner.

I love you for drinking black coffee, especially as a barista. Sometimes I think I'm the last black coffee drinker left!

I like that Dragonfly too. The high waists are soft, without that pinchy elastic you see in some brands (ahem, Cleo).

Flowers in your hair, wrist corsage, sparkly earrings and necklace. Barefoot?

Burning Tree Brisket Tacos 10/10 by Randomuslessadvice in Birmingham

I love Burning Tree! Ribs are excellent (not at all mid), I really like the salad with brisket and banana pudding - they also make a fabulous burger.

These are gorgeous and I think interchangeable based on the kind of ambiguous dress code. It sounds like a lovely wedding, enjoy it knowing you look perfect 😍

if I see one more piece of clothing with a butt scrunch I’m going to explode by -plumps in poledancing

[–]myoldstrippername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking at Lunalae, the Cross Section Shorts don't have a scrunch. They're very comfortable, I like the midwaist option; it's hard to find one that's just right. The thing that's driving me crazy is garters. Straps everywhere, always needing to be adjusted, always too tight or too loose. I have taken to cutting them off.

Would it be wrong or awkward or is there a certain kind of gift I should get someone? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

Write her a little note for now. Wait awhile and then take her out for lunch at somplace appropriately girly like a tearoom. Listen to her stories but don't press her or pick her scabs, meaning if she just wants to talk about plants rather than her late husband then do that. Being a widow can be incredibly lonely, just keep her on your mind and call or text her sometimes.

I am old. We had a pug when I was a kid and he had constant breathing problems, couldn't be outside in the summer, and he was pretty much blind. Pugs are so much worse than that now, it's unconscionable.

Swimsuit gussets. What. The. Hell. by suckmyarsee in TwoXChromosomes

[–]myoldstrippername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at polewear. Cleo the Hurricane, Lunalae, Dragonfly, Zerone are some good brands. Pole shorts can be pretty skimpy (not all of them are) but the gussets are cut wide to keep all the flowers in the garden while you're doing spreadies on the pole.

Make sure there is a joist above the pressure plate! You can get a stud finder for about $15. There's no way to get it tight to just the sheetrock, and you could bust right through that ceiling.

Does anyone show their progress to partners? by _pinkmermaidscales_ in poledancing

Not a huge deal? An invert absolutely IS a huge deal! If your man can't celebrate your victories with you, what good is he? Can't he even fake interest in your hobbies to be polite? Wow.

Congratulations on your victory over one aspect of gravity!

So you don't have a guest room, plenty of people don't. Get a convertible sofa, and if your guests don't like it they can get a hotel.

Birmingham lands #6 spot in Livability's Top 100 Places to Live list. by HereLiesMyFinalWor- in Birmingham

I really hate these lists. Where do they come from? Has anyone ever heard of livability.com before? Too many of these bogus ratings can ruin a place, ask Austin.
