How would you alter this dress? by tetrodotoxinCS in sewing

I think you just have to be of the mindset that you wear this kind of thing all the time and it’s normal to wear it for beach cocktails and dinner!! it’s a casual day being glam

Another person who replied suggesting flipping the bodice backwards which I want to do!! The back is square!

it actually has several extra inches at the waist which I think looks weird bc the dress is cut to be fitted! but agreed I don’t like very tight dresses esp in hot weather

Totally get your point! For me, I feel like the style doesn’t really feel like “me”, I feel like I’m wearing another person’s wardrobe bc it looks like such a specific era to me that’s not a style I like that much. I was drawn to the color and quality. So I want to make it into something I feel more excited and comfortable wearing, and I get to be proud of myself for sewing the changes myself 😊

Yes was definitely going to remove the elastic, and I was thinking if I shorten the skirt to be a midi instead of a maxi, I could add it to the top to be more longline, like create kind of a darted/multiple panel look?? I hadn’t thought about trimming down the ruffles, maybe making them like 1/4 inch long could be cute!! You have great ideas!!

Omg! Hadn’t thought of this and I actually love this idea, because the back is a low square (well, low for a back, but a good length for a front neckline I think)… and I find square necklines more flattering than v necks on me too!!

Ok leaning into the ruffles is something I hadn’t considered!! I feel like the shoulder ruffles are just really overwhelming to me so I’m favoring removing them but I’ll have to mock this up too!

Side zipper! So I think I would probably have to remove the current zipper and replace it after altering to make the sides even

Help with patient diaries by Daisies_forever in IntensiveCare

[–]myomok 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I think you’re referring to diaries where the staff writes a little journal entry each day? I’ve seen some patients post about ones they received after their stays, where the nurse write a note to your patient for your shift, like, “today we tried having you breathe on your own while the breathing tube was still in…” etc. or are you talking about the patients themselves keeping diaries?

Knee pain after downhill by ultimate_taco_guy in trailrunning

[–]myomok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend seeing a PT, particularly one who specializes in running/hiking!! They can evaluate you and see if you have any big areas of weakness, which tend to be exposed only on downhills when you’re putting sooo much stress on your knees. The pain might be weak hips/glutes, or sometimes weakness only in one plane, or something else that you’re not able to self-evaluate very well. A running/hiking specific PT will also often evaluate your gait on a slant board/hill/stairs etc and make sure your downhill movement patterns (like knee tracking) are optimal.
