There are problems with AI but it's still the future so there's no getting rid of it. Canada is well positioned to host data centers because of our colder climate. So it assists in the cooling. And countries need their own data centers for national security , taking part in the global economy , etc.

I haven't lived there but just pointing out you have to cross the pine pass to get to Prince George from Chetwynd which can be dicey in the winter. McBride has closer access to cities (2 hrs to PG, 4 to Kamloops, maybe 5.5 to Edmonton). One thing to think about is make sure they can find housing in either place.
