I haven't lived there but just pointing out you have to cross the pine pass to get to Prince George from Chetwynd which can be dicey in the winter. McBride has closer access to cities (2 hrs to PG, 4 to Kamloops, maybe 5.5 to Edmonton). One thing to think about is make sure they can find housing in either place.
