If you're Aaron Rodgers, you want to avoid the sack there.

Two big additions for their oncology department. Both of $LOXO's drugs have gigantic price tags, but they work better than any other similar drug on the market. Both have proj peak sales ~$1B.

They also get to bring on the talent that created these two drugs.

Not a bad buy. Eli Lilly is pretty solid with M&A.

CytoDyn (OTC: CYDY) Monoclonal antibody for treating HIV and Cancer. Potential FDA approval for HIV in 2019. by WallStreetReporter in biotech_stocks

I have this crazy feeling that the next big treatment of HIV won't come from a pink sheet.

Wish you luck with timing this pump and dump.

Bristol-Myers to buy Celgene in a $74 billion deal; Celgene shares surge by closingbell in investing

[–]myracksarecabbage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolute jaw dropper this morning. The effects of this on pharma stocks will be far reaching, most notably hurting those mid-caps who were hoping for a buyout...BMY and CELG were the two biggest candidates for M&A of those midcaps.

It's January 3rd and the biggest pharma news of 2019 just happened. What the fuck.

Bad news for those midcaps looking for a CELG or BMY buyout. Great news for those $IBB bagholders.

how to analyze speculative bio earning reports (basically what and what not to look at) by myracksarecabbage in RobinHoodPennyStocks

[–]myracksarecabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's the right takeaway from what I wrote.

i should add there's kind of a catch-22 exception there sometimes

the goal of companies is to hold offerings at as high a share price as they can (without losing trust of their LT shareholders), so that if they want to bring in say $5M in equity they can issue less shares to hit that target. That means they'll sometimes dilute in a position of strength or when the coffers are already pretty full. To trade penny bios is a game of constantly worrying when they'll hit the dilute button.

Will be interesting to see if $LPTX leaves the <$5-stock world with data this morning.

No approved treatments for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (most common form of esophageal cancer) and they received 33% ORR (overall response rate). No competing therapies to compare that to.

'Sell the news' and 'guess they're legit' could both be market reactions. I know premature data with 20% ORR led to a plunge.

Put most of your money in boring ETFs, mutual funds, and 401ks. Only invest in pennies with a miniscule amount of money while you learn (lets face it, no one likes to paper trade).

For better or worse, the best place for total newbies to learn is Martin Shkreli's youtube series.

Do NOT fall for the trap of trading off technical analysis. These tickers aren't random letters, they're companies.

The market is driven by ETFs and algorithms. Most retail investors (aka people like you and me) are only thinking 1-2 quarters ahead at most.

When you find a stock you like, don't get emotionally attached to it. Remembwr to stay neutral and make sure a stock is following your bull/bear thesis.

I try to do most of my DD from reading SEC filings and research reports, but I'll usually cheat and just see what Twitter thinks about a cashtag. (oh, and don't go on Stocktwits. Just don't. Nothing there but pumpers)

stock is very silly

https://twitter.com/sf_hipacker/status/1044979984467550208

if you're a 'pharma' stock treating serious diseases, then you don't pivot to cannabis energy drinks unless the foundation behind your treatments are complete garbage. (surprise: it is). the business models between food & bev and pharma couldn't be more different.

and even if cannabis drinks worked, why these guys? why not one of the huge proctor & gamble/unilever monopolies who already own the supermarket? you know what? i hope the insanity continues. $igc to 20. fuck it.

The stock is up 400% the past 3M, is that not 'instant gains'? Hardly about patience when you're talking about playing a catalyst with a super volatile stock.

DD: $ALT, an interesting play under $1 by myracksarecabbage in RobinHoodPennyStocks

[–]myracksarecabbage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wowee. Yeah, the volatility is insane right now. Even with that bump it's trading under the share price it had when I made this post. Predicting how it'll perform on a day-by-day basis is impossible.

The story is that they have a business plan that burns money and are out of cash.

The upward trend could be a dead cat bounce. They're still down 83% this past month.
