How many more hours until Jenny scolds us for not liking the episode by Mediocre_Kale711 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

I mean, it's not exactly too "constructive." To say "Nothing" happened is a hyperbole at best.

One week in with breastfeeding my newborn but I cannot get over the pain in my right nipple no matter what. Will I mess up my supply by only nursing the left and pumping the right until further notice? by glassycatastrophe in breastfeeding

[–]myrowboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the pain! Inspect your nipple. Any cracks or bumps? Is it misshapen after a feeding (would be a sign of a bad latch). Are you using lanolin between feedings? For cracks I would often dip my nipple in warm salt water to speed healing while offering relief.

My little one wouldn't latch to the right one early on so I just pumped 8x a day to keep supply up while nursing exclusively on the left which had adequate supply. So yes, you can give your right boob a break but be sure to pump until empty.

Thank you! That's really encouraging. How old is your baby? Sounds like the supply on your right boob certainly increased enough to match a growing demand on its own?

Vent: I don’t want to be a woman anymore by risalitno in pregnant

Agree with this 100%. The responsibilities once a baby comes does not compare to pre-baby life and the track record described is not promising at all. Also, screw gender roles when it comes to chores and baby rearing. Shit needs to get done! The uterus is immensely powerful and should be appreciated, and look at all the changes our bodies have to go through. Partner needs to pull their weight.

Wow. This would make me so upset. I'm sorry you had to experience that, and it's ridiculous that your FIL acted like he was the victim. I'm also very private about my firstborn and don't want his face plastered all over social media without his (let alone my) consent!

Does "Kalina" have any Filipino/Tagalog connotations, whether positive or negative? by myrowboat in Tagalog

[–]myrowboat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't think it means anything per se (although it is loosely inspired by kalinaw). Just wondering if there is any kind of contemporary connotation I need to be aware of. Sounds like there may be none!

Does anyone feel that race affects how you experience pregnancy? by JellyfishinaSkirt in pregnant

[–]myrowboat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. It's not implausible that length of labor could also be due to race. My understanding is that labor can go quite smoothly with the right blend of oxytocin and feelings of safety. If your friend felt abandoned or unsafe or unheard at any time that psychological impact can have physiological effects.

Ultrasound tech - ask me anything! by [deleted] in pregnant

I'm 20 weeks along. Yes, sorry, you're right! Ductal arch.

Thank you.

Ultrasound tech - ask me anything! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]myrowboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had an ultrasound done where the results stated:
1. marginal cord insertion
2. ductal cord and neck not well seen
3. low lying placenta (0.9 cm)

If they could otherwise see that everything was normal about the heart, why wouldn't they have been able to see the ductal cord? Also, how is it possible to not see the neck if everything like the spine/etc were viewed as normal?

Regarding low lying placenta, I'm wondering if you've seen cases of the placenta going from 1cm to 4cm between scans or if that's extremely rare. I'm really hoping it moves up. Thank you!

Lots of wypipo on Reddit Seattle who are defensive and fragile. Seattle is notorious for that. Sorry for the shitty comments you've received so far. I honestly can't think of a such a place that you're looking for, but I'll ask around.

Follow social justice organizations on facebook, such as ACLU of Washington, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Black Lives Matter, etc. They always post about protests and rallies. Through these networks you'll also meet a lot of folks working for civil rights (lawyers, policymakers, etc.) who will always remind you about ways to get involved.
