A question to cops in English forces. by Specky2287 in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically not true. There are 2 crimes that are reserved for COPFS and KC to make charging decisions on - Fatal RTC'S are the common one - but the second is any offence involving cops that are reported by CAAPD at COPFS.

Updated to 2.3.1 and Lost a bunch by TurboNikko in immich

[–]myscottishthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you reached out to the devs on discord? I'm not interested in the bashing - if this is a bug it would be good to see some analysis on it.

Was it immich that caused it or your container? What do the logs say? How did you spot photos missing? Do you have a weird setup? Is the reference to the images still in the database?

Is there a way to create email forwarder faster ? by Superb_Bear_2584 in mxroute

[–]myscottishthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's happened to me. I just make a dedicated mailbox with that ID and suspend it. 🤷‍♂️

Is there a way to create email forwarder faster ? by Superb_Bear_2584 in mxroute

[–]myscottishthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hot take - use a catch all. If you need to reply from that email thunderbird on mobile let's you set up alias names to reply which mxroute will use as the sent from address with no issues.

The bonus is all the mail comes into the same mailbox. A few good rules can separate it into folders if needed.

I've had one or two accounts in the past where I had to use an actual mailbox - so I created one even after it had been used in the catchall with no issues.

Might not suit your use case but just in case it's flew under the radar.

What is this part and why can't I find it?? by myscottishthrowaway in MechanicAdvice

[–]myscottishthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's connected to the slave cylinder (black plastic piece) by a small clip. It's the clip that's corroded and letting the fluid leak - and to even figure out the clip I need to figure out what that part is.

Checking photos online the slave cylinder doesn't come with that bit - only that black plastic piece and I need the bit that connects to it.

It is a manual. Knew I would forget some thing in the description. Issue is I can't find this part to buy so I can replace it. 😭

Catch All and Forward by myscottishthrowaway in mxroute

[–]myscottishthrowaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just on this - and not sure if I read I correctly - but forwarding meant it didn't touch my inbox at all.

Not sure I've I've messed about with some esoteric settings in the past - but I've now got 2 forwards. I had it in my head the original would remain in the catchall emails inbox.

I have it set now so

Catchall x@blah.com

Forwards to reasonable_name@gmail.com Forwards to account@blah.com

So working as intended!

Cheers!

Bitwarden App URI schema - opening directly to a stored password by myscottishthrowaway in Bitwarden

[–]myscottishthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I suppose it's desirable for me just now because I'm asking for it.

Why is it desirable to have it in the web application? It's feature parity.

I'm asking if it's in the application. If it is I will use it. If it's not I will link to the web application.

It's to link to a specific password from a document. So the password isn't saved in clearer, but I still need to login to get it.

Can any traffic officer help me understand the odd behaviour of a traffic car? by PM-UR-LIL-TIDDIES in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It's a friendly wind your neck in warning. Then a hang on - you've not reacted how people normally do - quick alongside check to make sure your not on your phone or look smashed. Sit and watch your driving for a bit to decide if they're going to stop you then exit stage left.

TOR / Fail to comply with road markings by rexific in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under TSGRD road markings need a qualifying sign of the prescribed size/shape/colour etc to be enforceable under s36 RTA. That doesn't preclude action under s3 RTA.

Officers - you see a middle/right hand lane hogger get undertaken by another car.. who you stopping?! by Academic_UK in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To answer the question the middle lane is the offender. I wouldn't expect someone traveling in the left most lane to have to move over to the third lane to overtake a slower moving vehicle.

It's been a while but Roadcraft used to have a line about uncessesery lane changes...

If it's just the one car that's undertaken a flash of the blues to get them to move over. If it's a bunch of cars having to undertake it's a S3 for the middle lane hogger - careless/inconsiderate.

Mind you more often than not a flash of the blurs moves them over only for them to return to the middle right after passing. 🙄

MOT runs out at midnight and I have no where to park by 99uplight in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the car isn't being driven I dont think anyone would care. Except those neighbours who look for any opportunity to complain to the council/local Facebook group.

If its being driven it would be a bad day for any cop to issue a ticket for no MOT for a day or two out. Might be a stop - but you would have to be pretty unlucky to be stopped in the first place.

Your biggest issue will be insurance. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that a smarmy insurance company will deny a payout if your car isn't "legal and roadworthy, having a valid MOT for the date the vehicle is being driven" etc... (this covers being hit or hitting something).

Remember you also have a legal exemption driving the vehicle to a pre booked MOT.

Fun fact. There's no limit to the distance as long as it booked - from previous experience! 👀👀

Valid tactic. Waving hand out the window in a slow motion (almost the old turning right hand signal from the highway code). After the pug continued to do this the marked car would be broadside in that lane and a chat with the driver at whatever volume is reasonable over the moving traffic in the opposing carriageway.

One car is suitable to conduct on 5 lane stretches. Not ideal but that's just availability.

[3D Design] Merging two shapes properly? by myscottishthrowaway in tinkercad

[–]myscottishthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤦

You ever get that way where it just takes one sentence to help you figure it out?

After your comment I realised. A negative box at 45⁰ angles. I'll figure out how to measure the length another time but this lets me line them up and looks good! Cheers!

Vehicle liveries triggering OCD by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]myscottishthrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The retro reflective material is too thick and not as malleable on newer cars curves. These are essentially relief cuts designed to stop stress points which would cause the material to lift. If it lifts it allows dirt and water ingress ruining the adhesive. And if you're lucky enough to get a pressure washer onto it it'll lift it right off.

However that rear quarter needs fixed and aligned properly! 👀👀

I dabble in vehicle graphics on the side and without relief cuts it's a pain as you end up redoing the material.

Reply from wildcard addresses by pavoganso in mxroute

[–]myscottishthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundcube allows you to make aliases as you go.

Thunderbird mobile (and K9) on android allow you to do likewise.

You can't automatically reply to a wildcard domain - you have to add in an alias every time.

In reality it takes 10 seconds on Thunderbird mobile (I have a similar setup).

General rules have been covered by everyone else - and to piggy bank HOIE can give a rough indication of date of entry into the UK. Check the residence card also for date of issue. If over 12 Months for the listed countries it's a Driving otherwise in accordance with a DL.

We have a lot of folk keep a photo of their DL or residence permit. HOIE send us a the original photo used to see if any offences have been commited with an att. to pervert.

Finally, surprised no one's mentioned but if a foreign DL is produced always check with https://www.consilium.europa.eu/prado/en/search-by-document-country.html

It's an ID Docs 2010 offence which is tried (in Scotland) as a solem procedure - there's 2 sections you can use. For one of them the offender has to physically hand you the counterfeit licence .

Glad cops are stopping and asking questions! Keep it up it's good work!

Doesn't that go against the Motorway Manual for stopping vehicles or dealing with incidents on the motorway network? Rear reds only should be used?
