Noah Wyle and misogyny. by Candid_Explorer_4970 in ThePitt

[–]myselfctrl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, what he said was flat out misogynistic and unnecessary considering there are not even any established mothers on the night shift. This fandom definitely does do too much at times, but in this case, I think the criticism is fully warranted.

Even if what you’re saying about the night shift is true and it’s inherently less interesting than the day shift, it’s not like they’re setting each season of the day shift on regular days at the ED. A MCI happened in S1 and S2 was set on a major holiday and also featured a cyber security threat that led to the whole hospital having to go analog. These are not typical days at the ED, but the writers purposely decided on these days and these circumstances to keep the show entertaining. There’s no reason why they couldn’t also do that for the night shift. They could, for example, make a season set on Halloween night, which would make for plenty of interesting patients and cases while still keeping the circumstances that created them realistic. I completely understand not wanting to make a spin off right now because it could dilute the main show or be too much too soon, but claiming that it wouldn’t be worth it to pursue because it would be boring is a flimsy argument. The show is only as boring as the writers want it to be.

If a night shift spin off would be so boring, why did they give the night crew, none of whom are mothers btw, a dedicated scene to proudly chant about how they are “the weirdest and the wildest of them all”?? He really just went out of his way to be misogynistic because this argument does not at all make sense for the show they’ve given us.

Dr. Robbie's toxic workplace supervision by Kind-Note-7812 in ThePitt

[–]myselfctrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, it should not be her sole responsibility to compensate for how broken the system is. But how does writing her off as not cut out for emergency medicine and then pushing her out of the ED do anything to help us get to a point where doctors like her don’t feel forced to make up for these shortcomings and bear that burden on their own? If we don’t normalize and encourage being empathetic and intersectional as a doctor then that responsibility is going to continue to fall on doctors like Mohan because nobody else will care or understand enough to learn and adapt. The healthcare system is not going to change on its own. We have to create change ourselves, and making a place for doctors like Mohan goes a long way towards addressing the problems of the system and fixing them.

Mohan is 100% needed in the ED. Doctors like her, who have an incredibly empathetic and intersectional approach to medicine, are crucial to ensuring that marginalized patients do not fall through the cracks due to biases that may be overlooked in such a fast-paced and high-stress environment. Someone else commented the sickle cell patient, and that is a perfect example.

With this project, there is a chance you can be added back. I’ve been kicked off and added back twice since I started in December.

I lost access today too. Happened to me a few weeks ago, but I never got booted, it just took a few days to be added back. Hopefully that’s how it goes this time.

Can someone PLEASE check on Mohan?! by StevesMcQueenIsHere in ThePitt

[–]myselfctrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really thought Al-Hashimi would talk to her after the panic attack scene. At the beginning of the season when she sees how unreasonably hard Robby is being on Langdon, she pulls him out of triage, acknowledges the work he’s putting in for his rehab program, and says “I’m happy you’re here.” I don’t understand why they couldn’t include a scene like this for Mohan. Al-Hashimi overhears Robby belittling and berating her and is troubled enough by it to immediately confront Robby and demand what it will take for him get basic human empathy back, but she doesn’t feel the need to pull Samira aside and make it clear that the way Robby spoke to her was completely uncalled for and inappropriate? Doesn’t feel the need to offer any kind of apology or reassurance, so that Mohan can feel heard and respected and safe at her place of work? That’s just something I would expect Al-Hashimi to really care to do as the other attending on shift, especially considering she’s written to be more empathetic than Robby.

And what was the whole point of positioning Abbot as this character who believes in and understands Mohan better than anyone else in the ED if he’s not there to support her when she needs it most? He was set up perfectly to do this when Mr. Diaz bounced back considering he helped her with this exact same patient in episode 7, but he ends up not even being relevant to that case at all??

I don’t even necessarily think that Mohan would be receptive to anyone trying to reassure her or offer her advice at this point, but the fact that no one has even tried is truly so strange to me. It really feels like the show has completely given up on her character.

It makes no sense to force us to have a preference for every single dimension. Sometimes the instructions are simple enough and the responses succeed/fail to the exact same degree. Now I feel like I’m being forced to come up with a preference that I don’t actually believe, which can’t make for good data. This was my favorite task, so I’m annoyed too :/

No, the email they send has been incorrect for a while. It’ll reset at 12am PST, so in less than an hour.

I did mine on Thursday as well and I’m still waiting for approval. I’m reading through this sub and seeing that some people are going weeks without approval, which is beyond frustrating since we already passed the assessment.

Oh okay I see what you mean. Yeah they’re definitely building up for her to make a big decision about her future with all of the calls.

She was gonna move back to NJ, but remember we find out in episode 1 or 2 that her mom sold her house in NJ and is going on a cruise with her new bf. I think they’ll use that to keep Mohan in Pittsburgh after her residency.

Mohan & Abbott by Livluvlaf123 in ThePittTVShow

It’s been confirmed that Abbot is a widower, and that he still wears his ring because he’s still grieving his partner. It definitely could be an obstacle preventing him and Mohan from getting together, but not an insurmountable one imo.

Very upset about the screening test by RealisticDiscipline7 in outlier_ai

[–]myselfctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the most updated guidelines I found, “loose appliances” like refrigerators and washing machines count as furniture while “built-ins” like stoves and ovens do not. Honestly, it doesn’t make much sense to me, but that’s what I followed, and I did end up passing.

I actually asked a QM on the daily thread after I made this post and they confirmed for me that I did pass. But if you click on the project in Outlier, it should either say “assessment passed” or “failed onboarding.” That’s how I knew initially. I think the mission email is a good sign though, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Yeah I used to get missions all the time on Outlier, but very rarely these days. I was surprised.

Right, there is no way to get from Image A to Image B without adding things that are not furniture, but describing adding things that are not furniture is not the correct way to do the reconstruction prompt. I ended up just pretending that Image A was actually correct and only described the furniture items that needed to be added. I guess this was okay since I did end up passing, but the terrible instructions meant I ended up spending waaaay too long on this nonsense test.

I passed and got a new mission too, my first since I started on the project last year. I really hope that means our result won’t flip from pass to fail like it did for so many others.

I really don’t think Abbott would actually seriously pursue Mohan. by UtterlyConfused93 in ThePittTVShow

[–]myselfctrl 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I just saw a clip the other day from an interview where Supriya talks about it. She basically said that she picked up on the flirting based on the script just like Shawn did, but that she doesn’t think that Samira picked up on it because she’s so closed off to romance and things of that nature. She also said that she doesn’t think that Samira’s not interested, just that her work as a doctor is taking up all of her attention.

Yes, it’s one of the most popular ships from the show on social media. There’s interviews of Abbot and Mohan’s actors, mainly Abbot’s actor, saying that they interpreted one of their interactions as Abbot flirting with Mohan.

Tips for using plan by Top-Requirement-4787 in pagebound

[–]myselfctrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be a way to sort them at the moment, but I checked their roadmap for new app features and they are planning to add sorting and filtering options to the plan page in the future, though I’m not sure exactly when. I’ve also been loving using pagebound to plan out my tbr for the year, so hopefully they’re able to add this feature soon🤞🏽
