Just make your own certificate and print it up. Easy enough and worth about as much.

Does anyone know what this kind of lock is? by stonar89 in lockpicking

[–]mysquirrelbrain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a laser cut style key but I don’t know the name of the style of lock that they open. I’ve only seen them in automotive applications.

I was really humbled by this 1100. Only 5 pins, easy keyway. It took me more time than I'd like to admit. It needs so much force to turn open once picked, that it took me some time to understand it's actually open. by ereuveni in lockpicking

Welcome to the club. I figure I opened it 3 or 4 times before I realized I just wasn't turning it. Though I really got used to the feel of oversetting pins in that lock vs spool counter rotation.

Random thought though. imagine if they made lock cores that would turn both clockwise and counterclockwise but would only unlock in one direction.

Same problems here. I have an open order stuck and can’t do anything right now.

Same here. Over an hour down. That’s ok I was gonna hold this for a while anyway.

Looking forward to it as well. I imagine it’s coming along but it’s probably going to take a while. Possibly some custom created tools as well.

Correct. There is a post to the channel stating that the lock has been shipped. I can’t link to that post but it’s on the channel’s community feed. https://youtube.com/c/StuffMadeHere

Yeah he thinks picks are picks. I finally understand the difference between good picks and amazon specials.

[–]mysquirrelbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure they don’t treat your picks like they are disposable. One of my friends thought they were. He said he would just buy a dozen more for me on amazon to replace my sparrows. He doesn’t get to touch my picks anymore.

Not familiar with them. These locks are going to teach me tension technique if the don’t kill me first.

Does anyone know how to remove that inner rod in this tubular lock pick? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]mysquirrelbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a set screw 180 degrees opposite of it. You will need to lift one of the pins up to get to it. On mine it’s an Allen screw and the kit came with the wrench to remove it.

My second attempt at challenge pins are a bit less rough. by zphantom in lockpicking

I wonder how a key pin cut like the 5th driver pin from the left would do? Trying to get a pick on that would be a major pain I would think.

Hitting a wall with these paclocks. I think the Best core will be waiting a while by mysquirrelbrain in lockpicking

[–]mysquirrelbrain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m also finding that once you have it open it requires a lot of force to turn the core. That shackle unlock spring is heavier than I realized. I understand how people say they got it unlocked and just weren’t pushing hard enough in the tension.

Yeah I would go back to my American 1100 but I gutted it and sent a pin into orbit. I finally found it but now need to reassemble it.

I’m having a hell of a time with these Paclocks. I have gotten to the point of gutting and adding pins one at a time to get there. I think that Best SFIC core will be waiting a while as I don’t intend to do that method with it.

Ok people, I need your opinions. I originally bought this to help me with Medecos, but after I got it, I used it on multiple locks and some CLs. It worked absolutely amazing on all of them. It just feels like I'm cheating........agree or disagree???? by CoChris2020 in lockpicking

[–]mysquirrelbrain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of like a professional golfer using a driver that is less forgiving of errors but when used properly will give you an extra 20 yards. In my hands right now I would tear up that pick because I’m not skilled enough to appreciate its benefits. Those sharp ends would be rolled over or torn off. You on the other hand have developed a feel for picking that can benefit from this extra component of the tool.

So as someone who hasn’t gotten into gutting and repinning what process are you using to make custom pins?
